Immigration has been a burning issue lately, particularly after Donald Trump’s immigration ban in the United States of America. It has been a topic that families discuss every morning with breakfast. Despite many concerns related to immigration, it has several positive benefits that mostly outweighs the negativity. People bizarrely argue when it comes to immigration, but these arguments are primarily based on facts and ideas that are outdated or inconsistent and blindfold the positive aspect related to immigration. Many immigrants in the United States are good workers who don't depend upon any public welfare and mostly help in the overall development of the economy. As a country made by immigrants, we must not forget the fact that immigrants have helped to build cities and create a path of development form Google to iPhones (Gray & Furman, 2012). These facts are secluded, and some related arguments with different content have been repeated for years and continue. Immigrants have a lot to give the United States rather than to take, especially when it comes to economic terms.

The issue of illegal immigration has daunted this nation for many years. Currently, there are 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. Immigration reform is necessary, but amnesty is not. Last year, the United States Senate passed the ‘Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act’ by a vote of 68-32. If this bill becomes law, America will still not have fixed it’s illegal immigration issue. There are many flaws to the current immigration bill in Congress, such as the fiscal costs to taxpayers, government spending, and “border triggers”. Today one of the biggest issues in America is illegal immigration; these people travel from all over the world, and illegally cross national borders onto U.S soil in desperation to find a better life. Immigrants come to America in hopes of fulfilling the American dream, being free and safe from their original home lands. Most immigrants are illegal and come by the millions each year, which lead to many controversial disputes. The overflow of immigrants caused many citizens to question if these illegal immigrants are damaging America in various way and also by bringing in crime, drugs, and terrorists. Others state that immigrants truly aids the economy “Indeed, some sectors of the economy might have a hard time functioning without illegal workers. (Katel 395) Many citizens believe illegal immigrants are taking jobs, and abusing government benefits, however many argue that these immigrants in fact contribute to a stronger economic stimulus, take unwanted jobs, and some even create jobs for Americans.

Being one of the 11.5 million illegal immigrants that reside in the United States has always made me stand out. I have had to overcome obstacles that not many other students have faced. From the fears of being expatriated to the feeling of opportunities being lost. Sharing my identity, I believe makes my application more personal.

The United States of America, a country created by immigrants, is currently facing what some consider to be an immigration crisis. As of 2012, there is over eleven million undocumented illegal aliens living inside the United States. Both the American public and the lawmakers elected to represent us are divided on the issue. Some people view the influx of immigrants crossing over the border from Mexico to America as a good thing while others view it as a disaster waiting to happen. Regardless of ones view on immigrants coming over, most people are in agreement with the idea that we must change the way we are currently dealing with illegal aliens.

Americans on a daily basis are bombarded with broadcasts from newspapers, television, and special interest groups on the economic burdens created by illegal immigrants. Reports and statistics of growing state and local deficits; is it fact or fiction? In reality, undocumented Mexicans are necessary to the health of our economy. They provide a workforce in agriculture they keep the costs down; they contribute millions in taxes annually they help to stabilize the economy. Leaving a entire family and friends is not an easy task, and crossing the border illegally in search of the american dream is even harder. The first thing a friend said was, that if I could buy him a hat, another friends asked for money to help him to buy a expensive phone and another friend said that since I live in U.S it means I am reach, it was not until I hear those words that I understood how wrong was the idea that people had about U.S. That the money grow on trees, or that people find it on the streets like if it was nothing. The reality was different, at the age of 15 I started helping my mom to clean houses and offices at 2 am, I remember how hard it was for my mother to keep two jobs so that she could provide us the things we needed.

Immigration has always and will always play an important role in America’s history, along with the United States having the most open immigration policy in the world to this date. American history began with flocks of immigrants competing for lands to start a life, bringing over their vast traditions and values. Some brought nothing but determination. It’s disgusting to see our congress and lawmakers make these higher-end laws to keep foreigners out, yet our country is built off immigrants. Since the 19th century, America has been the leading destination unlike no other for immigrants to reside. No other country has such a wide range of races and population like America. Although the issue of immigration policy has been at the center of political debates, largely discussed in the media and newspapers, no one has yet found a solution to this ill-defined problem, that would comply with the America’s core values. While I think the immigration policy does need a reform, the solution to this problem certainly is not a deportation of all undocumented residents.

The US federal government should allow amnesty for illegal immigrants in the country. The US federal government could provide a system for earning citizenship such as US military service. If illegal immigrants were given citizenship that would benefit the economy by raising wages, creating new jobs, and it would also generate more tax revenue.

The Unites States is founded on immigrants from every part of the world. According to the Migration Policy Institute, the United States attracts the largest number of immigrants in the world (MPI, Webpage). In 2013, the United States has approximately 41.3 million of immigrants, accounting for 13 percent of the overall population (Betalova, 2015). However, not all of the immigrants here in the United States does the right thing, a lot of them come to the country illegally and for a variety of reasons this is a bad thing. These immigrants have come into the country numerous ways and continue to cause controversy. People can all agree that immigration is an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed. However, before addressing this issue, people need to learn more about this situation.

Immigration is a controversial topic that has impacted our society for decades perplexed by policies media coverage, perceptions based on one’s own lack of knowledge, personal experiences and a host of other factors that influence how our society views immigrants and immigration policies. The United States is a diverse population of people and filled with experiences that come from various walks of life that contribute to enhancing our social culture, economic development, and cultural acceptance.

The racial and ethnic composition of the American people is in flux. New immigrants from all over the world have added a large measure of cultural and phenotypic diversity to the American population in recent decades. America is one of very few countries in the world where it is near impossible to define the nationality by one race, lineage or religion. It has become a melting pot of different cultures and religions and it is difficult to find anyone who does not come from immigrant ancestry. Defining ourselves as a nation built on immigration, we also view immigration as a threat, and still immigration has been a constant source of dynamism and strength to the economy. Our immigration system is inadequate and its out-of-date laws have resulted in a situation where many illegal immigrants live and work in the United States, modernizing our immigration system would ensure that the door to America remains as open to future generations as it was for our ancestors. Immigrants make enormous contributions to our economy, with a new comprehensive immigration policy in place that allows the millions of undocumented workers a chance to legally work; these immigrants could become productive contributors to the American economy.

Lastly, Illegal immigrants contributed to population growth in the U.S. The number of people who live illegally in the United States are counted to be over 11 million. In 2012, a report from Texas Health and Human Services Commission shows an estimated of 717 million healthcare expenditure for undocumented immigrants.(Sage) State and local government are struggling with the problem on whether or not to preclude illegal immigrants from qualifying for healthcare coverage and prescription drug. They reason that it is less costly in the long run to provide necessary care and Health services to illegal immigrants through the public clinics than treating them for serious ill in the hospital emergency room. According to the 2013 reports from Kaiser Health News, Medicaid spends about 2 billion a year on emergency room treatment on uninsured illegal immigrant. Even some studies shown that these costs has been pegged up to 4.3 billion annually.
