The music and dialogue will also be discussed.
Directions: Choose an element from the list and create a superhero profile. On the next page, you will design a superhero and create a tagline that embodies the characteristics of your element, including the atomic number, symbol, and name. On the page following that, you will tell the origin story of your element. Be creative when telling your element’s story, which may be told in any format you wish, such as a myth or cartoon. A superhero sidekick or nemesis may also be included but you must choose an element that either combines well or has a violent reaction with your chosen element. A rubric for this activity is included at the end of this worksheet.
I love comics, especially superhero comics. I have been in love with them since I was seven, when my uncle introduced me to Superman and Batman. I was just so mesmerized by the plot, even if it was repetitive, I was so intrigued that I couldn’t stop. You know the plot, the one where a victim or victims are distressed and the hero swoops in at the right time to save them from any danger. Growing up though, as life got more complicated, so did comics. It wasn’t the same old plot anymore. More casualties occurred in the stories, heroes developed more weaknesses. It was as if the comic book creators were trying to make the readers realize that superheroes and an regular person are not so far apart. I will never be able to see it that way though. Why you ask? It’s because unlike a regular person, superheroes will never be a reality. No one will swoop in to save you in your time of need. The only person that can protect you, is yourself. If you are able to do that, maybe the next step is to protect people that can’t protect themselves.
Where to begin? From start to finish this summer has been like no other. The 2D girls hit it off from the first week of camp with awesome sports and trips. Our very first trip was to gymnastics where our girls showed us their cool flips and tricks! Beach, Liberty science center, bowling, pump it up, and keansburg are just a few more of the fun trips we went on. Ever seen a prodigy? You must have if you know Sherman Alexie, or Superman. Both are a type of hero. Sherman Alexie wrote “Superman and Me”. Though he was an Indian boy who in many ways acted like Superman on an Indian reservation camp. Many Native American children would often call him an oddity. For his”super powers”.
“The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me” is a short story in which Sherman Alexie, the author, writes about the expectations of Indian children and how he defeated them. Alexie’s thesis is about how reading was his key to overcoming the expectation of failure and that helping influence young Indians to read and write can save them from their prescribed fate as well. Primarily expressive writing is used to convey this message but literary writing is also used as a secondary purpose. Narration and description are the patterns utilized in Alexie’s writing as well.
Today, I had the opportunity to talk with Matt, and there is a lot of things I didn't know about him. If Matt was a superhero apparently he would like to be Superman because according to Matt Superman is a beast since he is bulletproof, has lasers coming out of his eyes, and has extra vision. Matt said that the best Christmas present he has ever gotten was last years which was a good amount of money and food gift cards, he says he loves his gift cards because he can go into the store and pay for the food without using his own money. Matt favorite memory with his one of his grandparents was when he was young his grandpa took him out in tractor to feed cattles, which he describes as being fun. The greatest gift Matt has ever given was a martini
Powers: Cadmus gave her a new arm, which can lift at max, two thousand pounds. It joins her body at her collarbone, meaning that they removed her shoulder joint and replaced it with a bionic one. To equalize her strength and weight on her right side, she was made a metahuman. Her entire body has enhanced strength and durability her right arm can lift about four hundred pounds and she can kick with up to eight hundred pounds of force. She's weighed down on her right side, so it looks like she's limping, or walking with a swagger, but she doesn't mean to, she's just heavier on the one side.
D. Incredible Progress Proper representation took quite some time to make its way to the forefront of the comic book industry. It wasn’t always right (like in the mid eighties case of Cisco Ramon as The Vibe,) but sometimes they got it right. One of the first notable Hispanic heroes was unveiled when Marvel introduced White Tiger to the universe in the early 1970s. He was a Puerto Rican man named Hector Ayala, and he was the first Latino superhero to be featured in the Marvel Universe and he was penned by Puerto Rican artist George Perez. He was one of many Latinos involved in creating some incredible content for comics, such as Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso and Joe Quesada.
In the essay “The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me” Sherman Alexie writes about himself as a young boy trying to be more than just an “Indian boy who lives on a reservation,” or an “oddity.” His implied thesis reveals that he used reading to try and save his life and wants to help others to do the same. Alexie presents this thesis through an expressive and literary purpose, and continues to employ patterns of description and classification.
There are so many different characteristics that make each individual awesome. The way they help protect the environment. Their killer confident. The way they care for and about other people. The honesty that they display. The courage they have. The way no matter what is going on with them, they help to make your life better. No matter what it is, everyone is awesome, but I think I am pretty awesome too.
The movies “Waiting for Superman” investigated the ways in which the American Public Education system is failing our nation’s children. It highlighted the roles that Charter Schools and education reformers could play in an effort to offer hope for the future. The movie moreover, depicted the dropout rate of high school students and schools closing due to lack of funding.
Dear future self, I learned in the superhero unit i learned that I can do anything if I have a fixed mindset. Also I learned to not have a wish but you can make it your goal in life and that anything is possible. One of the things I want to do is to become better at pitching in baseball. Also I want to be a good player wherever the coaches want me to play and have my name recognized by people. Something that is on my mind is to try to get on honor roll. Also I want to get my grades up in certain classes so I can get on honor roll. I would like to be in the mlb or something like that. If i’m not in the mlb I hope I will have a good paying job and it is a job I will enjoy doing or something i'm good at doing not something I don't like doing.
When people hear the word "superhero", they think of the fictional characters from comic books. For example, a Marvel fan might think of Captain American, or a DC fan might think of Superman. But, sometimes, there may be that one person who does not pay attention to fictional superheroes, but the real life heroes of everyday life. For example, a military personnel, in active service or retired, is a real life superhero. Some may not come from noble or rich families, but a person like that does not need material things to make themselves happy when there is a whole world that could make them happy just by an act of courage, no matter how big or small. These men and women go through tough training, physically and mentally, to be able to go out and fight for their country. Although they may not be battling monsters, they ask for God's help in strength and hope for their safety and their friend's safety on the battle field.
When you think of a superhero one normally thinks of Spiderman, Batman, or Superman, but there were superheroes long before these characters were created. First one must understand that the basis of this name is hero. What is a hero? A hero is a person who does something special or out of the ordinary in order to help others. It could also be someone who is admired for a characteristic about them, be it physical or mental. They are individuals that normal everyday people can look up to. This being the case, a superhero is nothing more then someone who is a hero, but not just that once and for that one person, but someone who helps many people, or leads them. As time went by the number of people who were true heroes diminished and just
