Exploratory Essay
A majority of individuals that inhabit this universe were not born with a talent. I, unfortunately was no exception. I grew up stumbling through different sports teams and art classes. From playing games of softball to attending pottery classes, nothing really stuck to me. I was beginning to doubt I would ever find anything I was truly passionate about until recently. I have realized that I am passionate about food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I was initially introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of becoming obese when visited a Nutritionist. I was very overwhelmed with my diet changes at first, but then became amazed at how much better I felt mentally and physically. I was so inspired by this that I decided that becoming a Nutritionist would be something that I want to do for a living. The quizzes from The College Foundation of North Carolina seemed to support my decisions as well, making me even more confident to pursue a career doing my passion.
Even though making a decision about what I want to do for the rest of my life is an enormous deal, I am confident that becoming a nutritionist is the goal in my educational plan. I am an extremely indecisive individual, but the passion I encompass for living a healthy lifestyle through food is enough to make me determined to pursue this career. As of right now I am pursuing an Associates in Arts at Rockingham Community
Throughout my life, I’ve wanted to be many things. An astronaut, a princess, a doctor, a lawyer, and at one point in my life the president. Now that I am older and much more mature. I still haven’t decided what I wanted to be. When I first started my high school career, I was terrified. I didn’t know what I wanted to be. So I decided to try new things. I’ve been with choir ever since I was in the sixth grade, so I thought I would give it shot, and try something new. I started to take drama and art. I soon found out, that I wasn’t great at either of those things. I had stage fright and I sucked at drawing. But, I didn’t give up. I stayed with choir, drama, art, and basketball. I am originally from west Seattle, but as of now living in Issaquah. I have decided to go back to school to get a degree hopefully in computer science. I am very interested to learn about nutrition and how food works within the human body. I have two children ages nine and eight. When I am not working or doing school work I use my free time to do fun activities with my children, husband and our dog Penny.
Hard work and empathy were instilled in me at a young age and ultimately have guided my life decisions. I always knew I wanted a career doing something that involved helping people and left me feeling that I made a difference in their lives. I finished my undergraduate degree in Nutrition, but in the end lacked passion for the profession. Following a personal experience with an Occupational Therapist, I was able to see the positive outcome she had on my grandfathers recovery which lead me to pursue my career in occupational therapy.
Montclair State University and I posses a common vision. I, like MSU believe in the power of thinking critically and acting ethically in every possible aspect of my life. I have chosen to study Nutrition at Montclair because I want to help people make educated lifestyle choices and develop healthy habits, which has always been a dream of mine. Because I intend to pursue a career in dietetics, I see Montclair State University as an ideal place for me. Offering impressive coursework and programs that will quench my thirst for knowledge, this university will prepare me for a dietetic internship and provide me the confidence of knowing that I would be getting an excellent education in nutrition at a top school with consistently high ratings.
I have always had a passion for education and being at Saint Vincent Academy, I have grown into a passionate young woman. Academically, I have been exposed to many different classes such as American History, Women's History, Modern History, a very graphic freshman year health class, and Human Anatomy and Physiology. Each class has helped me in forming my passion of helping people and the ability to empathize. Through my history classes, I have learned about the need to help others and through my science classes, I have come to the decision to become a nutritionist/ registered dietician. My goal as a nutritionist is to help people take better care of themselves and it will start by acknowledging them on what they put into their body's and the
I am currently on track to complete my degree in Nutritional Science. Once completed, I hope to settle in to an important role as a nutritionist. Exactly what environment I am hoping to work in, I am not yet certain. As a nutritionist, it would be my responsibility to plan and conduct nutritional programs that assist in promoting good health and control of diseases. Responsibilities may include supervising food service departments, counseling individuals, or conducting nutritional research.
Getting a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition is a valuable investment. There are different careers to choose from that include clinical, corporate, food service, government and military service. In nutrition, the more experienced the person is the better the opportunities. Therefore, as a nutrition undergraduate student, I plan to build my experience to be a competitive applicant for the careers I wish to work for, which are a nutrition lecturer, nutrition marketing business partner, or nutrition researcher.
Ever since kindergarten, one is asked, “what do you want to be when you grow up”? When younger, the answers vary from princess to astronaut, and it is more of an amusing thought than a serious question. On the other hand, as one ages, the question becomes tougher to answer and the answers more realistic. In addition, the question is no longer just “what do you want to be”, but “how do you plan to get there”? It took me awhile for me to truly know what my future aspiration would be, because in a world with so many possibilities it was difficult to determine the career I most desired. Ultimately after much thought, I have decided that my future aspiration is to become a registered dietician.
When I first began college I was unsure of what career path I wanted to pursue, but I knew whatever I chose would lead me to a challenging and rewarding career. My first semester I enrolled as a biology major because of my interest in science and desire to work within the health care field. This same semester I also happened to be taking a nutrition class as apart of my general education, and I was introduced to the science of nutrition. As the semester progressed my passion for nutrition grew, while the feelings of uncertainty I had about my future career path began to dissolve. I was drawn to nutrition once I began learning about the effect that food has on our health, and realized I could help people suffering from diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease, which are so prevalent today. I knew that choosing to major in dietetics was going to require an immense amount of hard work and dedication, but I decided to accept the challenge and pursue a career in dietetics.
Accomplishing a bachelor’s degree in nutrition science will put me on the path to become a dietitian. Dietitians have many responsibilities in teaching and helping others and companies with nutrition choices. I hope to help others with diseases control or improve their condition through diet. I realize Kaplan will not put my directly on my path to becoming a registered dietitian but my goal is to find a school with the correct credentials. It is helpful if a person has certain qualities that are useful when dealing with people very often.
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to do something special in life. I was born in a small village in Mexico where public health and education were very limited. In 1996, my family and I got the opportunity to move to the United States. This move brought me closer than I had ever thought possible to accomplishing my dream of becoming a registered dietitian and working in public health nutrition. I have always valued my education because where I am from it was really difficult to study beyond middle school. Here, in the United States, I have gotten the chance to further my education beyond high school.
After high school, I hope to study Food Sustainability or Global Health. Both majors will allow me to focus on understanding and helping to solve issues facing the global population. Food sustainability and global health go hand in hand. Both deal with availability, scarcity and social justice issues that face humanity. My career goal is to work in the field either promoting sustainable agricultural practices or improving healthcare for everyone.
From a young age, I have always wanted to know how and why the things around me work. Science was one of my more well-liked subjects throughout my schooling years. I am able to excel in these subjects because I have developed a strong interest in them and I enjoy the process of learning new things. I have always wanted to go to university to study a science-based subject. While browsing through the variety of courses available in your university, I came across "Food Science" and it caught my attention. That was when I knew it would be the right course for me.
Culinary art is a momentous part of my life.When I was around the age of nine I was living with both my mom and dad. I was always in the kitchen helping my mom cook dinner. I made baked ziti, empanadas, sweet potato pie, and other foods.When I was in high school, I lived with my father,and after my older siblings grew up it was just me and my little sister so I was responsible for cooking the meals. I was cooking for my family an average of seven days a week and I was never tired or bored, I enjoyed it. I developed a strong passion for culinary arts. I am passionate about it because it excites me, inspires me, and encourages me to open a restaurant.
I’ve always had a passion for cooking. When I was a little girl I loved to cook and enjoyed learning about all sort of cuisines. Today, I am still in the kitchen and every chance I get, I cook. Some days it isn’t even fancy or a hard recipe. Some days it’s a classic, but something that I’ve created. Cooking is my time to be me. It’s the “art form” I pride myself at being good at and I don’t have to try (unlike drawing…not so good at that!). Like a child getting a new toy, I get excited when I discover new foods and ingredients. My mind feels “at home” when it’s in the process of creating in the kitchen. It’s fun getting the ingredients, piling them all on the counter, then chopping, stirring, adding a pinch of this and a splash of that. Then I have to wait for everything to cook. Finally the reward of my creativity is taken out of the oven and placed on a plate. The creative work I’ve done is fully realized when I can share my work with others.
