There are many different ways that people can be intelligent. Over the past few weeks I have been reading fiction and non-fictions on how people can have different types of intelligence. In fact here are the seven different ways people can be intelligent; musical, existential, bodily-kinesthetic, intrapersonal, naturalist, and/or spatial. Intelligence isn’t defined by a single ability, but it’s about the many types of related abilities. People can have more than one type of intelligence, but some are stronger than others. People can be intelligent by having logical-mathematical, interpersonal, and linguistic skills.

Workplace motivation can be influenced by individual differences. Using Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Test my personal intelligence is classed as Interpersonal. People with Interpersonal characteristics have the ability to relate to others, they understand the relationship between people and their situation and have excellent communication skills. The preferred learning style is human contact, communications, cooperation and team work. Gardener identified six other types of intelligence:

“Human intelligence is the intellectual prowess of humans, which is marked by complex cognitive feats and high levels of motivation and self-awareness.” “Human intelligence is a marvelous subtle, and poorly understood phenomenon. There are no danger of duplicating it anytime soon.” The 3 types of intelligences I’m using is Logical-Mathematical Intelligence, Intrapersonal Intelligence and Interpersonal Intelligence. There are different ways people can be intelligent. That’s why it will be cool to have one of those intelligences.

Intelligence by definition is “the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills” (Oxford Dictionary, 2014). However, many psychologists argue that there is no standard definition of ‘intelligence’, and there have been many different theories over time as psychologists try to find better ways to define this concept (Boundless 2013). While some believe in a single, general intelligence, others believe that intelligence involves multiple abilities and skills. Another largely debated concept is whether intelligence is genetically determined and fixed, or whether is it open to change, through learning and environmental influence. This is commonly known as the nature vs. nurture debate.

Some think its only academic smarts others think there are different types of intelligences. Some examples of the multiple intelligences, like artistic, emotional, and logical mathematical. Artistic intelligence is being able to paint, and make sculptures with ease. Emotional intelligence includes interpersonal which refers to knowing others feeling, and intrapersonal which regers with knowing your own feelings. Also logical mathematical deals with being good with math, but also being connected to it somehow.

Intelligence as defined by the Cambridge dictionary is the ability to learn, understand, and make judgments or have opinions that are based on reason.1 There is much debate and controversy on this subject and psychologists do not all agree upon a standard definition. Yet, one of the very first definitions of intelligence was developed by the psychologists responsible for the development of the first intelligence test, Binet and Simon (1905) who argued that the essence of intelligence is: ‘to judge well, to comprehend well, to reason well’.2 Another sample definition was provided later by Heim, in 1970, who argued that ‘intelligent activity consists in grasping the essentials in a situation and responding appropriately to them’.3 There are also arguments surrounding how many different types of intelligence there are, as well as the intelligence theories of psychology. However elusive, we can ascertain that all psychologists have universally agreed upon general intelligence (g), an expression devised by the English psychologist Charles Spearman and defined as ‘a mental attribute called on for virtually any task’.4 This essay will inform the reader of the different methods proposed and used by psychologists to assess ability and discuss their evaluations.

First, I believe the existence of a difference between knowledge and intelligence should be acknowledged. I could insert a definition of both terms from Merriam- Webster’s Dictionary here, that would be exercising my knowledge, simply repeating facts I have gathered. However, I will go more in depth, by proving relationships between different facets of education exist in order to apply what I’ve learned, what I know, and demonstrate my intelligence. As

People can be very intelligent in different ways. You can be intelligent but having bodily kinsthetic. You can also be intelligent by having a musical talent. You can also be intelligent by your intellectual abilities. Now we know multiple ways you could be

IQ tests are not the only way to measure intelligence. In fact, we make informal decisions about others’ intelligence all the time, even after short interactions. The ability to express and control our emotions is essential, but so is our ability to understand, interpret, and respond to the emotions of others. Psychologists refer to this ability as emotional intelligence, and some experts even suggest that it can be more important than IQ. Multiple intelligences represents different intellectual abilities (Edutopia, 2003).

Chapter 4, reading 14, titled Just How Are You Intelligent?, focused on the researchers theory of multiple intelligences (MI Theory). The researcher believed that parts of the brain specialized in different functions and that different parts have different intelligences. In order to help prove this theory, the researcher came up with eight indicators that helped him see if an intelligence was actually real. The researcher proposed seven different intelligences that passed most or all of the eight criteria. These included linguistic (words), musical (sounds), logical-mathematical (example: numbers), spatial (visualization, transformation, rotation), bodily kinesthetic (physical control), intrapersonal (understanding yourself), and interpersonal

There are many different ways that the interpersonal intelligence can be strengthened. Some are to try to meet one new person a day, start conversations with random people in public places, begin pen-pal relationships with people from other countries, and spend time each day watching and observing people and their reactions to the things around them. Other ways are joining a volunteer group, taking a leadership role, and attending seminars that are focused on the improvement of the interpersonal intelligence. These things are just the beginning of the many ways in which the interpersonal intelligence can be improved, but there are also many ways in which people can learn to increase their intrapersonal intelligence, such as meditating. They can also record and analyze their dreams, read self-help books, make personal development plans, or their own autobiographies.

We have to practice many things such as brain testing games, brain storming can be great, different puzzles to solve, and handling different problems that we have to solve throughout our life. There are many theories to explain intelligence. Charles Spearmen is known for the general intelligence. Howard Gardner has the theory of multiple intelligences. Robert Sternberg proposed the triarchic theory of intelligence.

One of the ways people can be intelligent is by being interpersonal intelligent. This means that you are able to identify people's feelings, body language, and facial expressions. People like therapists or body language experts excel in identifying how people feel. For example, on page 413 it says, "Sensing people's feelings and motives: interpersonal." Sometimes,

Children, for instance, all have different areas in which they excel. A child who excels in school and is listed on the honor roll each term would obviously be considered intelligent. However, a child who is very talented in music but obtains bad marks in school might not be deemed a smart child by the average person; nevertheless, this child would also be considered intelligent.
