How To Be An American

What means to be an American? About everywhere in the societies and the people in it have diverse opinions to be an American especially when they are from different country. Being an American means to have a willing to accept others from different culture, freedom to do anything, and to have opportunities in terms of relaxed atmosphere.

What does it mean to be an American? In my eyes to be an American means to have privileges, rights, and freedom. America isn't perfect, but it is one of the only countries that have rights given to people of different diversities and gender. America does not have tremendous poverty. Instead we have choices given to us by the people who fought and died for the American people. Without George Washington and the other patriots who planted the first seed in the ground and help plant the American nation we live in now who knows what America would be like now.

An American is someone who doesn't rely on others for their individual happiness. Someone with the freedom to independently make decisions towards becoming a better person without conforming to society's standards/sentiments. Americans have equal rights no matter where they come from. “Of every hue and caste I am, of every rank and religion... I resist anything better than my own diversity,” (Whitman) Walt Whitman is saying that no matter the color of your skin, your rank/wealth in society, or your religion, you are just as equal as everybody else. Conversely, many believe that being an American comes only from an emotional standpoint and that no other classification is needed. What it means to be American? Everybody you ask this question to will have a completely different response. Some responses might have similarities but none will be exactly the same. In the beginning of the year my response was “To be an American means having a rich history, having opportunities to better ourselves, and having freedoms.” Unfortunately not everyone has had the same opportunities or freedoms. Being an American it means to respect the freedoms as an American whether you agree or disagree with the choices our country makes. Not everybody agrees with the way our country is run but it's still up to all the American people to respect the law and our freedoms. Who are americans what do they stand for? To me an American is being a citizen of the united states and involving yourself in the effort to keep America thriving.I believe that to be considered to be an American you do not need to be born in America, i believe that to be a true American you stand up for what you believe in. for example, Trevor Keever a young man that was fired from his job for wearing a pin that said “under god” on it stood up for what he believed in and he's a perfect example of a true american. To be an american is being proud that you can practice your own religion. Being an american is having freedom of speech no matter your gender or your race. For example many college students are using their freedom of speech by using their words to protest against the violence in the charlottesville violence. Being an american is to help your community and being supportive of others rights.

An American is a man, a woman, a child who came to the U.S. and started to grow and flourish to become the men and women that feel pride for their country and the freedoms they have through salutes to the country and leaving behind their past heritage to become a citizen of the U.S. We as Americans have very well tried to become who we are today by not being prejudice and not being without freedoms. We strive to be the best we can by saying our pledge of allegiances and our doing as much as we can for our country. Just as my grandfather does every morning by saluting of the flag always hanging in his yard up high.

To many people being an American means different things. To some it means being able to watch football on Sundays and eat hamburgers. To others it means having the choice of what to wear or how to act, but for me being an American means so much more. In my opinion being American is about having freedom and the opportunity to be yourself. Americans are a diverse community of people who are part of the democracy created by our founding fathers.

Being an American means to have opportunities that are available to us that others don’t get in other parts of the world. The United States of America is a country that is based on being a free country for citizens to have more freedom than anywhere else. It is one of the only countries that give rights to people of different diversities and genders. To be an American means to have opportunities, rights, and freedom.

What does it mean to be an American, well a lot of things can mean that you are American. Most people reading this essay have celebrated Memorial Day and even the 4th of July. Those are some of the most patriotic events that go on in the US. Everyone in the US wants to live here for some reason or another. Nomade who you are and where your from you can live the American dream.

I believe an American can be anyone. I don’t believe you have to be born in America to be one, I believe that if you have the right mindset you can be anything you want to. You can come from any background, and I think you are welcomed. If you want a better life for yourself, your family, your loved ones, even a stranger, you are an American. If you are trying to do good things, for anyone and everyone, you are a true American.

I feel really lucky to live in America because we are really free and we really don't have to worry about Tarists attacks. We get good education and then you get some countries that don't have education. To live in America you have to think of the people protecting use across the seas and on the mainland of the US. I've had relatives be in the Marines and I know how it feels when you lose a relative that is on duty. When I was younger I always wanted to go to the US War Dogs Association. I still want to because I could work with dogs and I get to go on missions. When I go to the US War Dogs Association I am willing to go into battle and hope we would win the war because I live in this Country. I love to live in America because I know I am
