In my life, I have gone through several situations that were certainly inevitable. Considerably, I had to teach myself that things just happen for a reason, and realize that sometimes the reason is just unknown. On November 20th, 1997, I was born in the wrong body. The biological hormones I received at birth did not correspond with who I was meant to be physically. Unfortunately, this has caused numerous hardships for me throughout my life. At the age of four years old, my pediatric physician diagnosed me with Gender Identity Disorder. Fortunately, I was informed that there was a medical solution for me. I was a senior in high school when I started a medical therapy known as HRT; Hormone Replacement Therapy. Going through HRT my weekly injections of testosterone would replace the old hormones in my body with the now correct hormone. Testosterone has effected my mind and body in many ways. The changes range from physically, psychologically, and even my mentality. …show more content…
One of the most obvious physical changes is hair growth. I have had a significant increase in the amount of hair on my face, chest, abdomen, arms, and legs. The hair has darkened as well as gotten coarse. My skin also feels rougher, and I have experienced some acne as a outcome of that. Being that Testosterone has the ability to thicken your vocal chords, My Voice has Deepened tremendously. I have also noticed a difference in the way my body is shaped as well. Testosterone redistributes the fat in the body, and it has made me look more masculine. For example, my shoulders have broad out, and it makes me appear taller. Although these changes did not take place overnight, they certainly have made an incredible impact on the way I see
Robert Sapolsky’s collection of essays “The Trouble with Testosterone” is a thorough examination of the evolutionary roots of human behavior, by discussing the biology behind it. The book contains eighteen essays that explore this issue. The Stanford neuroscientist is a great writer: he concisely explains his views in each essay and makes it funny and easy for a layman to understand and absorb. He unpacks complex scientific ideas and explains them. The essay that I found most interesting was the titular essay, which was an examination of flawed logical reasoning that biologists make when they think there is a causal relationship between testosterone and aggression. Sapolsky, in that essay, explains why that is not true. These essays did not
Testosterone boosters may come with side effects. Men could find they suffer from acne on their back while taking one of these boosters, and others begin to suffer from the symptoms of anemia. Headaches have been reported, along with increased aggression. Some men find they struggle with mood swings, depression or anxiety. These aren't issues when a male chooses TestoFuel, however, as this product is all natural.
Imagine being born and being yourself for a good eleven years and on your twelfth birthday getting a card that dictates how you have to be for the rest of your life and changes everything you were before you received this card, whether you wanted to or not. This is what happened to me when the horrendous biological change of puberty occurred. I could no longer be me I had to be her and despite knowing what it meant to be a girl and why I was considered one I was never her. It took a whole lot more googling and frustrating questions to come to the conclusion that maybe my gender didn’t correspond with the one assigned at birth. The term transgender made my head spin.
The mental effects that steroids have for both males and females are as follows: paranoia, delusions, bad decision making, and irritability. The physical effects steroids can have in males are: shrinkage of testicles, decrease in sperm count, and development of breasts. For females, the effects of steroids are: voice deepening, clitoral enlargement, breast size shrinkage, hair growth where most men get hair, and menstrual irregularity.
There’s 800 pounds bending that bar. Count the plates. And Ronnie’s bangin’ it out for REPS!
Testosterone is a hormone in both men and women, but in greater extent in the men, testosterone is a chemical compound (C19H28O2) and is responsible for the characteristic of men such as, sexual characteristics/sexual organs, deepening of the voice, and facial and body hair. (Neil Schlager, Jayne Weisblatt, and David E. Newton 2006) Testosterone/Steroids has bodybuilding and masculinizing effect as well as treating a variety of medical conditions, like asthma, the steroid is used in a puffer, they can be used for anabolic or androgenic purposes and made for synthetic purposes making them illegal. (BROWER, K. J. 2001) Many athletes will use these to gain an advantage on competitors, with lean muscle and higher endurance, with many uses, there
It has been long debated who or what we should attribute our athleticism to. Is athleticism a product of hard work or a result of athletic parents who passed along athletic genes? Should we attribute athleticism to hard work or science? People generally fall into one of the two categories when explaining athleticism. Athletes are always looking for a competitive advantage in sports. Many athletes have turned to steroids and testosterone boosters to excel performance. Substance users have been labeled cheaters because they have an unfair advantage. Does having a naturally high testosterone level give an athlete a fair advantage? The article I chose, “Time to
Abbott is facing a multitude of lawsuits relating to these events. Very high levels of testosterone lead to risks of endless side effects such as liver failure, acne, and much more. In female cases, anabolic steroids can develop masculine characteristics such as balding, deepened voice, and facial hair. Many men have reported cases of breast enlargement. Awareness of these kinds of outbreaks started when communist athletes in the 1950s used so much of it that they developed enlarged prostates. They then later had to be catheterized to be able to urinate. Anabolic steroids can also cause very intense mood swings, known as “roid rage”. The most commonly found side effect in adolescence is stunted growth. The body senses
Hormone Replacement Therapy is a recent medical development for those trying to transition. Hormones are given to children
It turned out that I had a rare condition where my body could not make its own hormones. It also turned out that I am one of five known people to have this condition. In order to gain more insight about this condition, the doctors recommended exploratory surgery. They would use the results from this surgery to determine next steps for me and to gain insight about the condition as a whole.
As a young child, like many boys, I was obsessed with sports. My favorite sports have always been ones that are quite physical. Growing up I couldn’t get enough of hockey, football, and professional wrestling, also known as the WWE. And because it is all I could ever think about, naturally the people I aspired to be like were these monster sized men. However, what was never mentioned that made these grown men capable of acting the way they do was the main ingredient that is created in every male in the world, testosterone. Testosterone can cause males to grow facial hair, gain muscle mass or even deepen their voices. Despite all the great things testosterone can do for a man, there is one side affect of testosterone that does not get mentioned
The Darkling Thrush" is a poem occasioned by the beginning of a new year and a new century. It is formally precise, comprised of four octaves with each stanza containing two quatrains in hymn measure. The movement of the first two stanzas is from observation of a winter landscape as perceived by an individual speaker to a terrible vision of the death of an era that the landscape seems to disclose. The action is in how the apprehension of this particular moment of seeing changes as the emotional impact of the scene solidifies.
“Steroids are synthetic substances produced in a laboratory, whose chemical structure is similar to that of the male hormone testosterone” (DEA Diversion). Which means that steroids change the appearance of your body. Studies show when women inject a male hormone to their body, they will receive male tendencies; facial hair, deeper voices and bald patterns in their hair, aggressiveness, and unwanted acne.
People are a normally aggressive animal varieties. For whatever length of time that we have had games to contend in, competitors have attempted a wide range of things to be the best. Competitors have utilized different substances and mixtures to enhance athletic execution since the start of human advancement. The old Greeks ate sesame seeds, the Australian natives bit the pituri plant, Norse warriors ate stimulating mushrooms, and old societies around the globe had comparative customs.
