How has the sports networks evolved over time? That’s a good question, have you ever thought about that? Like where it all started? Where it began? Who created networks for the world to see? I wonder that because without what they have done we couldn’t be where we are now with technology involving sports networks which would be behind. These people made sports better to watch, see, hear and listen to. Its makes people including me feel like i am at the game even though i may be at home just watching it on my table and or tv. They have taken sports to the next level. HOW? Sports networks have a lot of shows, episodes, broadcastings and broadcasters, but i only know a few. Like Sports Center , espn, espn2, even though there are 100s more …show more content…
Over time these networks has grown throughs certain processes and obstacles that most almost didn’t make it through. Knowing all of this information and learning it would really help with what i need to know to finish this paper.
What has got me to where i am now in certain steps. First in class we went over a isearch packet that told us about what and how we were going to finish this project. We had to write about the importance of the task and read articles of examples of this project. On the article we had to write what we liked and disliked about the example and turn it in. Next we had to find sources, we had to get on the computer or tablet to find websites and books about our main topic, (our driving question). We had to have 3 sources, a book, a website and a reference book like a dictionary or thesaurus. Also for the full project the teacher required 2 more sources which means 5 sources totally. I used 2 more websites for my project. I didn’t have good luck finding a book though, there wasn’t anything in the library. Then we had to do a outline, that where we answered main topic questions like, “what’s the hook?” or “what’s your driving question?”. After we did all of that we had to turn it in, which some i didn’t do on time i turn in a few of the checkpoints late. Now as of right now i’m in the library computer lab typing my project.
All 3 of my sources i had are websites because i
Another way to increase the amount of teams and leagues could be possible if the government took away any league to sell the broadcast rights to its games to several networks without fear. “The power to do this without fear of violating antitrust laws was part of the 1961 Sports Broadcast Act, the first law passed by Congress that protected the market position of sports leagues.Prior to the passage of the Sports Broadcast Act, leagues could not have their games telecast by more than one network” (Rosentaub 16). With television being an important part of teams bringing in revenue to their organizations it's quite simple why they sell to multiple tv networks. But if they were to only use one service provider then things wouldn't be the same.
Step 1: Construct a network diagram for the project. (NOTE: EF for activity H should be 19)

The way that America influenced Australian sport accelerated due to the new communications that became available such as pay TV and the internet. This enabled more widespread and frequent up to date broadcasts of American sport in Australian homes. There are many scholars that say in secondary sources that because new communications enabled more widespread broadcasting and the amount of money that went into the broadcasting different sports in Australian culture, it was the television stations that began to dictate the time of day that games were played. For example, football matches were traditionally played on Saturday afternoons. In the 1990s, however, rugby league and AFL matches were scheduled on Friday nights, Saturday and Sunday afternoons and sometimes even on Monday nights. This is what maximised the potential television audience and allowed more games to be broadcast. The media coverage in these influencing countries also led to increased rates of interest in the sports that were shown, such as basketball which had then led to it becoming the fastest growing sport in Australia. Broadcasting on television soon became a major source of income for most sports played here in Australia as television stations had paid large amounts of money to get the rights to broadcast a particular sport on their station. This also led to overseas merchandising and advertising, which meant that companies from around the world could pay to have their products displayed as advertising during a sporting match. Surveys that were conducted later into the decade showed that teen boys recognised famous sports person Michael Jordan over any other sports person. Along with this, when America had started to add cheerleaders, mascots, other ‘Americanised’ glitz and glamour and merchandise to their sporting
To begin, the 1920’s is considered the Golden Age for the growth and development of sports because the need for escapism was introduced during this time period. After a long and hard war, most Americans were eager to forget the war and to move on to something of more worth. “For Americans in general, participating in and watching sports events became
Flashback to before September 9th, 1979, all televised sporting events were on ABC, NBC, or CBS, and fans had to wait for the 5 o'clock or 10 o'clock or the next morning's paper to see other teams' highlights and scores of. That was the pre-ESPN era. Now, sports fans have unlimited access about sports anytime they want 24/7 in today's sports world dominated by ESPN. William Rasmussen was the mastermind behind the fresh edgy network that's broadcast to over half the countries in the world. Blossoming into a mini-media conglomeration in its own, ESPN has conquered of the so-called "Sports Nation" does not show any signs of slowing down anytime take over. In addition of being a subsidiary of Walt Disney Company, ESPN's
Sports occasions began to be telecast live on it and everybody could see the occasion as it happened, when it happened and how it happened. Today, albeit electronic instruments and satellite-based web administrations are accessible, nothing has yet possessed the capacity to overwhelm TV. Sports stars, associations, and governments have earned are as yet winning a huge number of dollars of income as an aftereffect of commercials, sponsorships, and shows made on TV.
There are five drivers in the sports world that are keys to understanding which way sports are moving. The first driver talks about how there’s a blurry line between work and leisure in sports (Gunston, 2004). There is a blurry line because some sports to some people could be leisurely to them while others it may seem too much like a job, this is changing the sports we play and the types of people that play each sport. The second driver explains how consumers want instant entertainment when they are watching sports, which will put tons of pressure on people with sports related jobs and even the sports industry as a whole. Majority of people that watch sports want what they are watching to be as interesting as it can be, I’d personally agree because I’d say everyone likes seeing an entertaining and electrifying game rather than something boring that’s going to lose your interest. The third driver speaks about how the media and
One the richest histories in the world is the history of sports. Sports are filled with many different legends in multiple eras, multiple sports, and multiple mentalities. Over the years sports have evolved to a worldwide phenomenon, going from soccer to cricket. Different countries have different sports filled with different role models and leaders. While football is a worldwide game other sports are unknown or unfamiliar to people that are not from that certain country (Boyle, Raymond, and Haynes, Richard).
One of the biggest obstacles that I will most likely run into is that I must work within the due dates. For each objective of each criterion, there are specific due dates, and it is very important that I meet these due dates and turn my work in on time in order to receive the highest grade possible. Even if all of the work isn’t being turned in, it is still very important to stay on top of your work. If I don’t turn my work in on time, points will be taken off, resulting in a lower grade. There are many things that I do in my everyday life, so I must be able to balance both my project and the rest of my life. Another obstacle that I foresee working within is the wireless internet and my phone at my house. I have wifi at my house, but sometimes, it cuts off and doesn’t work for a short amount of time, and this could be a big problem if I am trying to complete my work for this project. In order to make sure that I don’t run into this issue, I should try to get as much done in class as possible. My phone is another limitation that I must try to avoid in this project because it easily distracts me.
In 1994. the World Cup was hosted by the United States, and it was a huge success. The 1990’s has been fun for a lot of people. The 1990’s were filled with happy, but also very tragic events. Sports have been a really fun pastime for people in the U.S.A. The 1990’s Interesting events, popular sports, and the changing of sports over time made the 90’s a memorable decade.
Throughout the many vast fields of sports sociology, there is always something that can be brought upon by changing the norms of the old and creating new ones or discarding them. It seems that a lot of the topics discussed in class could ideas on where to begin changing certain aspects of sports. One idea that has been sparked goes hand in hand with one of the concepts discussed in class, sports and politics. But how do sports and politics interact, one way is the political feeling of a certain nation affects every aspect of the country.
Sports of old were merely competitive activities rooted in heroism and romanticism. Sports activities today, however, have no such innocence or simplicity. Currently in America, the activities that make up our sports culture is not only the competitive events themselves but the processes and issues that underlie and surround them. Entwined in our sports culture is the giant business of mass broadcasting. Indeed, sports and the media go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly, like Mickey and Minnie, Darth Vader and Luke. They are intertwined and depend on each other to continue to grow. Sports media includes television, radio, magazines, newspapers, books, films, and, now, most importantly, social media devices provided by the
Following the instruction, I had earlier estimated that to complete the ITP-2i it would talk about a couple of hours to sit and focus on during the work. I was actually in a rush because my real goal, I previously planned on going out of town for a couple of days, to the beach. However, I did not want to worry about doing homework while enjoying a small vacation. Friday night after everyone went to bed this left me time to look over my work and to answer the question which through me for a loop. I realized the project must be incomplete because I could not answer all the questions.
Can you imagine a world in which the only way you could view a sporting event was if you actually attended the game in person? Well, that’s how the world used to be at the turn of the 20th century. The development of the Sports Broadcasting industry and more importantly the rights and regulations associated with the industry set the pace to allow the world of sports media to advance to the point it is at today. The main steps that were taken in this advancement include the development of technology, the development of the Sports Broadcasting Act, and most importantly the progression of case law involving sports broadcasting rights through the reviewing of many cases.
