Humans present in both Old Man’s War and Ender’s Games have changed due to the technophilic world they are accustomed to by heavily relying on technology. Changes provided by the authors in the novels are the value of human and other species life, violence as an immediate response to possible danger, and character behavior development. In both novels, humanity is able to achieve a great “accomplishment” although these accomplishments seem to lure humanity into the wrong direction leading to the road of destruction due to the cause of their own technological violent and brutal uses.
The first way in which change is perceived is through the value of life in all species. This is present in both novels through the various aspects of war. Some

The protagonist in the novel of Ender’s Game changes through the course of the novel in various ways. An example of this would be when Ender takes the decision to join the military school in order to help protect humanity from invaders and fulfill his “purpose” for which he was born for, his goal is to quickly learn how to progress inside the school, while also maintaining himself far away from his brother’s aggressive personality, and his last change is his strength in the kindness and innocence that he offers others. Ender changes his fighting motives by the end of the book in the way that he no longer thinks he is protecting humanity from the Bugger’s but instead is improving himself in order to beat the system and the technology around him with newly learned techniques. Ender’s goals change from defending humanity to actually trying to find a new planet in which a new Bugger civilization can begin from the beginning. He decides to take a ship and travel along with his sister through space to find this new planet that might give the Bugger race hope of surviving. In Old Man’s War John Perry changes his motives of fighting in the CDF due to the fact that the technology that he is now offered he is given a completely new functioning body that offers him the opportunity to fight and live longer. John Perry’s perspective about fighting changes from fighting for himself to fighting for his close friends “the old farts” and the woman inside his wife’s body. Along with the help of technology, he is able to save his loved one Jane Sagan for a better hope for the future. Perry’s goals change from the beginning of the book to end in the way that he no longer is just trying to survive and explore the universe but to survive for Jane Sagan for whom he wants to establish a life within a farm
In the story Ender’s Game there is a boy named Ender Wiggin, he is a very smart child who is accepted into battle school. Where Ender is from they are not allowed to have more than two kids. Ender’s parents signed a contract saying they can have a third child, so Ender basically belongs to the government. Then Ender has to go to battle to fight the buggers. Once he defeated all the buggers he was know as a hero. In the book, Ender’s Game, there are many similarities and differences.
When given a dynamic setting and plot, change is inevitable. In the novel, Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card, the author tells the story of a dystopian society which focuses on the task of defending itself from extraterrestrial creatures. Through the course of the book, the protagonist, Ender Wiggin, faces challenges that influence his actions and attitude. Although there are many characters who undergo change in the novel, Ender’s dynamic personality traits are more evident, being that he has a larger impact on readers. Due to being manipulated, Ender Wiggin changes from an ambitious young boy, to a subdued and wary character.
In the beginning of the book Ender gets his monitor removed and gets into a fight. The way he handled the fight is what caused colonel Graff to offer Ender to join battle school. In the start of battle school, Ender got picked on a lot, until he killed Bonzo, he was promoted to commander, commanding his own army, he defeated a lot of other armies in the school. In the commanding part of the book, he was getting stressed and losing sleep, he went back to Earth because he didn’t want to be in battle school anymore, then his sister convinced him to go to Eros to train for the bugger war, when he was playing simulations of a bugger invasion, he finally defeated the buggers and Graff told him that the games were actually real, not simulators. After he beat the buggers, another war started on Earth, his sister met with him where he was and told him that he should be governor at another planet and went around to find a new planet for a new era for the buggers.

In the book Ender's Game, the main character Ender, develops many characteristics, also known as character development. These characteristics are revealed by events in the story, or actions. The main events that are listed are to prove when Ender develops a new characteristic. Ender gets a monitor taken out, decides to go to Battle school, kills 2 students, becomes an army leader, and communicates with the queen bugger.
Ender's journey from humble beginnings to becoming a renowned military leader mirrors the stages of the hero's journey, such as the call to adventure, the mentor figure, and the final battle. Ender's growth and transformation as a character are evident as he faces various challenges and learns important lessons about power, responsibility, and sacrifice. Throughout the book, Ender grapples with conflicting emotions and moral dilemmas as he navigates the harsh realities of war and leadership. Like many heroes in the hero's journey archetype, Ender must confront his inner demons and make difficult decisions in order to fulfill his destiny. His journey is marked by moments of triumph, tragedy, and self-discovery, ultimately culminating in a dramatic climax that tests his resolve and character.
I know you can't believe that these young boys are out of school to be in a battle? Be careful who you mess with because they can attack you right back the theme of Ender's Game is internal struggles are not always apparent therefore it's important not to judge one another because it can be hurtful, one may Outcast others and one may be proven wrong. Throughout Ender's Game, Ender is getting judged and it can be very hurtful and hard for him for example as can be found in the text it says that quote quote well no one wants a third anymore you can expect them to be glad. (card 22). This shows and draws attention to children because families are judged based on how many kids they have and how they act anybody can judge you or your child.
Hardrod Kushner, a popular author and American rabbi, once said, “ I think of life as a good book the further you get into it the more it begins to make sense.” Over the course of a book, through character development and finding the author’s message, the reader begins to understand the values that are present in the book. Different books, such as To Kill a Mockingbird, Romeo and Juliet, and Fahrenheit 451, all have values that can be found in other books, like Ender’s Game. An examination of Ender’s Game, in comparison to other young adult novels, shows the values of courage, empathy, forgiveness, and community through the character development and the messages the authors want to convey to their readers.
The settings, conflicts, and characters of the respective texts share many similarities and differences. To start, both texts are supposed to take place in a faraway dystopian future. Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron" takes place in the year 2081, and though there's no clear time period in which Orson Scot Card’s book Ender's Game takes place, it is strongly implied that it takes place in a dystopian future, as Ender is recruited by the international military to prevent a planet-wide invasion by extraterrestrials, and was previously obligated prior to being recruited to wear an implant which allows the officials to see and hear every minutia of his life (a procedure which is clearly highly invasive into Ender and his family's privacy, yet
It may have appeared that Ender had changed on his outward appearance, but he always had his compassion and soul intact. He did not change despite the fact that he was in an environment where everything was being done to change him in order to result in the best possible commander. Even after he had defeated the buggers his compassion remained as he is dedicated to finding a new planet for their race to flourish. Throughout this novel I think that Orson Scott Card did a phenomenal job of conveying this as one of his inspiring messages: stand by what you think is right, stay strong and don’t let anything or anyone change you. Ender proved that to us, as the world tried to manipulate him, he remained true to
THEME: The line between good and evil is sometimes unclear, and as a result, people often think that they are doing the right thing when it is actually the wrong action, and vice versa.
The story of Ender’s Game acts as a foundational element in describing how empathy can lead to a true and more real understanding of alterity.
In both books, war is used as propaganda to control society, and it is also an idea that is to be supported no matter what.
“You won’t fail, Ender. Not this early in the course. You’ve had some tight ones, but you’ve always won. You don’t know what your limits are yet, but if you’ve reached them already you’re a good deal feebler than I thought.” (Card 286). Ender’s Game is a dystopian novel by Orson Scott Card that follows the training and thoughts of the protagonist, Ender, ultimately ending with the destruction of an alien race, the buggers. Ender’s militaristic and desperate society forces him to unwillingly commit genocide to an extent where Ender’s withering and empathetic mind begins to question the consequences of his actions.
The novel Ender’s Game is written by Orson Schott Card. It is about a young boy who is sent to battle school. He meets friends and makes adversaries. In battle school, out in space, Ender, the young boy is a genius and is taught many tactics to destroy their prime enemy the buggers. He excels in school and battles his way into command school before the required age. There he is told he is battling buggers in simulations or is he? Throughout the novel, Ender is manipulated, bullied, and isolated, which creates many themes and messages. In this novel Ender’s Game the main theme is life is a game. Three characters that best prove this are Ender, Peter, and Bonzo.
