The Treaty of Versailles impacted Germany very negatively because of reparations and loss of territory. The Treaty of Versailles was a peace agreement signed by Germany and the Allied Powers that officially ended World War I. However, if it wasn’t for this horrid, unfair treaty, World War II most likely never would have happened. The Treaty’s terms were harsh, to say the least. The sixty-three billion dollars due to the reparations sent Germany into a miserable time of inflation. With inflation, starvation and crime lurked everywhere in the shadows around the country. The Treaty of Versailles created something that our world hadn’t seen in years, peace. With Germany close to defenseless due to a crippling economy from reparations and loss of territory and armed forces, there wasn’t a chance of them starting a new worldwide conflict. With a shockwave of peace came a whirlwind of energy for the countries that were damaged during the war. People took this time of tranquility to rebuild buildings destroyed and communities obliterated. The treaty was never a permanent solution and the composure between the forces of the world lasted twenty-two years before complications started to arise from the darkness once again. The treaty humiliated Germany and punitively made them not able to start another war, but the anger that comes from humiliation flooded through the country and started an uprising. Other than peace and that positive impact on Germany as a solo country, there was another positive effect from the treaty that involved other countries. The demilitarisation of Germany gave nearby countries a sense of safety and security knowing that Germany couldn’t invade any other country even if they had the desire to. Overall, there weren’t many positive effects that came out of the Treaty of Versailles which just shows that it truly was a mistake and a horrible solution to a terrible
