How the Constitution Guarded Against Tyranny
Have you ever wonder the process that the Founding Fathers of America had to go through to create our system of government? One of the vital pieces to establishing this government was the famous document known as the Constitution. The Constitution was a highly argued document, because many people were concerned about if it would protect the newly-separated country of america from the tyranny that they had faced with their previous king. The Constitution ended up being the people's’ savior after the delegates signed it in September 1787, and protected them from tyranny in their country even better than before. All and all, the Constitution guarded the United States against tyranny creating a system

This protects from tyranny because it prevents big states from having too much power and being able to influence the government more. This also ensures to the small states, like Rhode Island and Delaware, that they have a valid say in what happens in their country and have equal representation as the bigger states, like Virginia ( Document D). The system works like this: the House of Representatives give one representative for each 30,000 people in a state, so bigger states get more and the Senate is composed of two senators for each state and each one gets one vote, so smaller states have equal representation as bigger states. This prevents tyranny because it creates a fair system where all the states are generally happy, and so no states try to get more power than they deserve. The stops the government from being control by a singular state. The Constitution protects from tyranny in this case by having a constitution strong enough to hold the states without letting one person in charge ( Background Essay). All and all, the Constitution uses this method to protect from tyranny by keeping all the states in equal
“How Does the Constitution Guard Against Tyranny?” In the year 1787 delegates met in Philadelphia to write the Constitution. Tyranny, a type of government with an absolute ruler, was a fear(background essay). To keep the country from tyranny, the delegates decided to divide the power amongst the people, the states and the government. The delegates wanted to have three branches of government; Legislative, Judicial and Executive (document B).
The constitution is a plan of government that lasted for over 200 years, it was a strong foundation that had room for flexibility. It was written in May of 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to replace the Articles of Confederation, the former plan of U.S government. Tyranny is the control of all power by one person or group. The colonists believed that King hb
The Constitution guarded against tyranny through federalism. Federalism is a system of government in which the states and the federal government share power. Document A is an excerpt from Federalist Paper #57 written by James Madison in 1778. The Federalist Papers are a series of essays created by Alexander Hamilton, James
How Did the Constitution Guard Against Tyranny? In colonial times the Kings of England treated the colonists harshly. They were forced to house soldiers, forbidden to trade with other countries, and mercenaries were sent by the king to control them. The writers of the Constitution in 1787 called these acts tyranny.
Federalism creates a layered system of the states and national government. They had the powers that were shared. They had taxes. They needed to make laws so that the people can follow the rules. They had to enforce laws. Powers were also given to the central government. They conducted to the foreign relation. They provided an army and also provided a navy. The central government made the immigration laws. The argument endorcing federalism. The benefits from having the two-tiered system of governed tyranny. The states served as checks and balances of the powers. Powers are reserved to federal and the state government incommon.
The Constitution was made to avoid tyranny. They wanted to create a government that avoids having too much power to a person or a group. They also wanted to create a government that wasn’t to weak to support the nation. The Constitution guards against tyranny by creating checks over the branches, giving power to the central government and the states, and creating the three branches separate and distinct.
The first way in which the constitution guarded against tyranny is federalism. Federalism is a system of government in which the power is divided between the federal government and state governments, which you learned in document A. Federalism helps make sure that the federal government doesn’t get too much power. If the federal government were to get too much power they could have too much control over what happens to the country which could
Almost 230 years ago in Philadelphia, 55 representatives from 12 out of the 13 colonies met up to revise the Articles of Confederation. They felt the Articles were too weak and went into this meeting with the intention of only changing a couple of things on the regarding America’s protection against a dictatorship. Instead, they ended up creating a completely new system; the Constitution. The Constitution protects Americans from tyranny through federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances, and protection of small states.
After escaping a tyrannical government, 13 colonies wish to guard against tyranny. In the year 1787, 55 delegates from twelve of the thirteen colonies met in Philadelphia to write and amend a document called the Constitution. Now the question is How did the Constitution guard against abuse of power. In this essay I will state 4 possible reasons the Constitution guarded against tyranny; Federalism, Small states vs. Big states, Checks and Balances, and Framers.
The constitution first started to provide protection over tyranny in the summer of 1787 where fifty-five delegates met in Philadelphia to help readjust the national government for the better. The task of each representative was to come together to create ideas without letting one person or any one group be in hold of too much power in order for the central government to grow stronger. The constitution had help led by the Articles of Confederation with their influence on not having a court system to make the state force a pay on taxes. The main challenge was to generate a Constitution that would be strong enough to retain possession of power for each state to a minimum so not a single person was the only one to have power or control. The guard on tyranny was supported in 4 ways federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances and small/large state compromises.
Over two hundred years have passed since the founding fathers of the United States of America, had created the constitution, the very document that is viewed, by many, as the milestone for what has later become the most powerful country in the world, as well as, the beacon for democracy. Having derived its values from the simple, yet intrinsic principles of liberty, the constitution has played the role of a safeguard to always ensure the freedoms of the people of America will remain intact.
The United States' Constitution is one the most heralded documents in our nation's history. It is also the most copied Constitution in the world. Many nations have taken the ideals and values from our Constitution and instilled them in their own. It is amazing to think that after 200 years, it still holds relevance to our nation's politics and procedures. However, regardless of how important this document is to our government, the operation remains time consuming and ineffective. The U.S. Constitution established an inefficient system that encourages careful deliberation between government factions representing different and sometimes competing interests.
The constitution prevents tyranny by providing a system of checks and balances in our government. In document C it states “ (The three branches) should not be so far separated as to have no constitutional control over each other.”(James madison, Federalist paper #51). Checks and balances are a way of preventing tyranny because it is a system that ensures that an individual or group of people does not have supreme power. This is important because if one branch of government had supreme power over both of the other branches of government then unjust
A third way that the framers used the Constitution protects against tyranny was checks and balances. “...The constant aim is to divide and arrange the several offices in such a manner as that they check on the other...” The main goal is to make sure that each of the three branches have control over each other but still separated. This protects against tyranny because each branch has powers the control one another. In document C it states how each level of government limits and balances each other out to keep the powers even, and how
The strength of our nation is only as strong as the foundation upon which it rests. Bringing together a group of individuals – delegates we would later refer to as our Founding Fathers – from the states which they represented, for the purpose of constructing and building a document of such strength and power, was the beginning of the framework of what would become known as our nation’s Constitution. This single document possesses the power to protect and preserve freedom of the people in the nation, by giving a guideline by which all laws and liberties are forever to be protected. This written document was designed by the assembly of men to provide effectual authority. The foundation which began to be laid in 1787, and went into effect in 1789, was to establish the grounds upon which all government would rest, and upon
