Time never seemed to stop her and her music is known all around the world. With over three-hundred million records sold, she is seen as the queen of pop. She continues to inspire millions through her music, yet she doesn't stop there. Her heart continues to help others through non-profit organizations. Madonna is seen as a true testimony to American culture. Her popularity has impacted the culture, music, and the people of the world. Born on August 16, 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, her parents Silvio “Tony” Ciccone and Madonna Fortin were both studious workers, a defense engineer and an x-ray technician. Madonna’s spiraling life began to show. Her most controversial video Like A Prayer, which caught the attention of Pope John Paul II for its religious outrage. She pushed the social boundaries with her Sex coffee-table book and doing more exposing scenes in movies and in April of 1992 her fame gave her the opportunity to create her own record label named Maverick Label under Warner Music Group. In 1996, Madonna faced one the most difficult obstacles in her life. She gave birth to Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon and in 2008 she had another child named Rocco John Ritchie before splitting with her new husband Guy Ritchie in 2008. While supporting others that help the world she also co founded a charity non-profit organization with Michael Burg in 2006 named Raising Malawi which is dedicated to helping extreme hardship and poverty endured by Malawi’s one million orphans. The organization’s focus is primarily on education and health services. Her successful charity is now funding a hospital in which she says "This new facility is the first pediatric surgery and intensive care unit in any Malawi hospital. It will have an enormous impact on saving the lives of children," (Madonna, 2017). She has forever reshaped the culture, music and the people of the world. Her never ending kindness helps underprivileged people get the resources they deserve. Her ability to challenge the principles of American culture inspires us all to become our true selves. The events leading to and during her career inspire her everyday to test the boundaries between good, bad, and everything in between.
