Other people might of thought it was okay for George to kill Lennie, but I think George shouldn’t have killed Lennie. I only say George shouldn’t have killed Lennie because Lennie was mentally unstable. He didn’t know anything. George tried to take away Lennie’s dead mouse saying “Come on give it here.” Lennie said “It’s on’y a mouse, George.” It kinda states Lennie doesn’t understand that he is holding a dead mouse. Which is gross and not normal, but Lennie didn’t know better. So, then George and Lennie did keep walking to get to their job. Before they get there George has Lennie repeat what he is going to say so then Lennie says “I… ain’t gonna say nothin.” Lennie and George’s lives used to be easier when they lived with their aunt Clara.
Was George justified with killing lennie? In my opinion it was right and i will tell you why. The reasons is the events leading up to lennie’s death, was it justified, was it an example of euthanasia?
George killed Lennie because Slim was looking for him to shoot him the the gut so he could watch him suffer so George shot him the head so he didn’t have to suffer. George should not have killed Lennie because Lennie is disabled, they could have ran and hid somewhere, they may come after George now that he has killed Lennie
Seeing how close they were and everything they've been through, it's easy to see why someone would argue that George wasn't justified. Although Lennie needed to be shot because of him making things harder for George and him hurting others, he was going to die either way. He mad all the people around him mad after what he had done to Curley’s Wife, people were out to get him. George just did it the nice way instead of Lennie having to go through probably much worse than just being
Yes, George made the right choice. Regardless of whether George chose to shoot his friend or not, Lennie will be killed. Although Lennie stole Carlson’s gun, Curley was equipped with his own, and was still capable of shooting George’s friend. Earlier in the book, George heard Carlson say, “The way I’d shoot him, he wouldn’t feel nothing. I’d put the gun right there…Right back of the head. He wouldn’t even quiver” (Steinbeck 45). Overhearing this might have influenced George’s shooting style, as Lennie was described as to die without a quiver, similar to how the dog died. This meant that when George shot Lennie, Lennie had felt no pain.
George killed Lennie in order to protect him from the others of the group. After Curley’s wife is murdered and Lennie goes to hide in the brush, George talks with Candy and realizes what he has to do after Candy hears his plan of letting Lennie get locked up. Candy says, ““We oughtta let ‘im get away. You don’t know that Curley. Curley gon’ta wanta get ‘im lynched.
In the novel, George has determined that it was time for Lennie to die and this was a just and good choose. George knew he was the one to kill Lennie because he learned from his past actions. Another reason was he knew that if he killed Lennie he would not suffer. Also, Lennie had no capability to sense reasoning like a normal individual and so he did not comprehend what he had done to Curley's wife.
“I want you to stay with me, lennie. Jesus christ somebody’d shoot you for a coyote if you was by yourself. No, you stay with me. Your aunt clara wouldn’t like you running off by yourself even if she is dead” - (Steinbeck 13). This quote shows George looking out for Lennie.
The main thing that stood out to me was how smart George was when he decided to take Lennie in. First off, Lennie needed the help, Lennie wouldn’t have been able to handle life in general without that adult or big brother figure which George took the role of. George took care of Lennie and in turn, even without specifically trying to, Lennie helped George stay on track to reach their goal where most men during that time would have fallen to alcohol and other time wasting, money sucking, life ruining expenses. This topic also goes with my quote that goes, “An’ I got you. We got each other, that’s what, that gives a hoot in hell about us.” It shows how working together allowed them a better opportunity. It shows how they were happier and
Lennie ran off, and George had to make a tough decision, should he kill Lennie to save him from Curley or should he let Curley and Carlson get to Lennie. In the end, George makes the ultimate decision, to euthanize, or to mercifully kill Lennie to save him from Curley’s wrath. In my opinion what, George did was wrong. Everybody has a life, and everybody deserves to live theirs out.
I think george though he was doing the right thing but he wasn’t because lennie was his best friend at some point and for him just to go kill lennie it wasn't right. Because lennie didn’t do anything to him. But there were some guys from lynch mob that wanted to kill lennie because they thought that lennie had rapped a girl but it wasn’t true.
Did George do the right thing by killing Lennie? In the book Of Mice and Men John Steinbeck, is a good novel. In the book, the main characters, George and Lennie are migrant workers moving and working from ranch to ranch looking for money. On the way they run into troubles, that they have to overcome. George and Lennie are total opposites, but are always together. George did the right thing because the had to help Lennie after the incident, Lennie made many mistakes at the ranches, and Lennie couldn’t survive on his own.
In a gut-wrenching, heart-throbbing, emotional ending to John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, a man, George Milton, is forced to shoot his best friend, Lennie Small, because of the crime he has committed. The question is, was it the right thing to do? Did George have to shoot Lennie? Was there another way out? Of course George had to shoot Lennie. The reasons are that Lennie was hurting himself and others, George had to end this cycle of madness, and he didn’t want Lennie to suffer.
Comparing and contrasting George’s decision to kill Lennie. In the novel “Of Mice and Men” the main character George makes a difficult decision to kill his only friend and companion, Lennie. This choice has both pros and cons but George, in the end, I believe, made the correct choice. I will outline the reasons that I believe that he made the Lennie was a mentally slow man who was unaware of his own strength.
Chuck Palahnick once said, “If death meant just leaving the stage long enough to change costume and come back as a new character... Would you slow down? Or speed up?” What happens in the realistic fiction book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is similar to what was said. George makes a decision to speed up Lennie’s death or let it be slow and brutal.
George made a good decision when he killed Lennie because he can have a better life, and also stay with the other guys and be safe. When George was forced to kill Lennie, sure it was a bad thing, but it also was a good thing for many different
