This is true even after marriage for many young people just due to the lack of housing in the country. Even though it is not practiced as widely as it was in the past, the oldest male of the household will still stay with his parents in order to provide care for them as elders. In addition, it is typical that the upper classes would be buried with as much of their personal property as possible, the remainder of the items would be bequeathed to the oldest son. However, since 1949, it has become acceptable that these items could be left to daughters as well. Prior to 1949, this was not an option. The Chinese will also do almost anything in order to carry on their name. If the oldest son of the family has no son, it is custom for him to adopt his brothers son. If no son is born in the family, the daughter’s son will be adopted just in order to carry on the family name. ("Countries and Their …show more content…
This covers their countries language, customs, relations, dress, education, activities, technology, and information. For this paper we will focus on education and their technology. China’s education system is the largest in the world. It is mandatory for all children in China to take nine years of education, prior to going on to a higher education. Like many Asian countries, China students also go to school year round and do not have summer off like in America. They typically will only have one month off throughout the entire year and go to school five to six days a week from around 0700 to 1600. (“Overview of Education”) Many schools also require their students to come into school on Saturday as well, and in some areas students may go to school all seven days out of the week. An astonishing fact is that 99.7 percent of the Chinese population has a minimum of a nine-year education, making it the highest percentage in the world of educated people. (“China
China has changed in certain ways and remained the same in others from the early Golden Ages to the late 1900s. China has experienced a series of cultural and political transformations, shaping the lives of many Chinese citizens. Culturally, the country’s art and literature hardly changed for almost eight hundred years. Along with their culture, China remained politically the same from the beginning of the Golden Ages all the way until the 1800s. On the other hand, China’s government and society were restructured after new leaders took over. From a monarch to total communism, China’s society had a multitude of new ideas and policies they had to adapt to.
Over a period of year’s education has grown to be very important to many cultures all over the world. At one time in many cultures children were only taught what was necessary to get along and sometimes only children of the wealthy would be taught. China’s government
The Chinese education system is the largest in the world and always wants the best higher education for the academically gifted. It takes twelve years to complete primary and secondary school. In 1986, an education law was passed stated that 9 years of education was mandatory for Chinese children (“China Education Center”). Only the brightest students are allowed to continue their education at a higher level. Because all Chinese students want the best education, it is difficult to get into high schools.
It was very interesting compared to some of the other productions I’ve seen. Understanding that it wasn’t a full-length play, but it was still done very well. I especially enjoyed “Narrators Gone Bad.” I felt it was very insightful. A lot of people don’t realize or understand the detail and time and effort that goes into storytelling. I enjoyed it. They did an excellent job and I really enjoyed it. I didn’t realize there were so many different ways to tell a story, but it makes sense. If you don’t tell a story with enthusiasm or in a tone that pertains to the story, it won’t be as enjoyable or exciting. Stories can be told in many different places, in school, in your home, they can be told anywhere in the world, and it’s

The people in China are rich in culture just like other Asian countries. Therefore, to be involve with Chinese people in China for business, undertsanding their values and culture are very important. The first important thing to understand about Chinese is their devotion to collectivism. Chinese is trained from very early to consider himself as a dependent segment of a group, which is also called totalitarianism. It is helpful to think of the notion of family in China as a template applied to many networks of relationships that hold the society together. In the Chinese business context, the notion of family is about more than the emotional support and ties of a nuclear family. Family members, for
I went into the High Heel Drag Race having no idea what to expect. Although I was somewhat familiar with drag, I’d never been to a show before, and what I saw was an incredibly lively and enthusiastic celebration of sexuality and sensuality. I felt like I was part of something unique and closed-off, that and that anything was allowed in spirit of the performance. My observations that evening have led me to view the whole experience through the lens of Victor Turner’s anthropological perspective on ritual and drama. His perspective is revealing in the discussion of this particular event because it displays how symbols and rituals are intertwined and how these events even come into
The differences that exist between the Chinese and American education systems are great and obvious. However, some of these differences don’t play to the strengths of the representative country. American schools allow for greater freedom of movement and choice, while Chinese schools decide the “what”, “where”, and “how” of educational circumstance for the students (Bush, tony, and Qiang Haiyan). These differences in structure should lead to a greater educational standard being held by China, but that isn’t always the case. This paper will examine the differences in education system in the two countries and show that the Chinese system, while
