A. Introduction
Censorship is a program that has limitations on quite a number of things online. There has always been a sense of divergence with internet users on whether or not censorship is necessary or actually needed. Everyone has their own beliefs. A number of people believe that some things must be censored, while others thinks that everyone must have the freedom to watch anything they wants or search any of the information they want.
B. i) Internet growth and evaluation
When you come to think of it…the internet is only one that has an ample amount of information. Exploring the internet for specific information can take up much of one’s time as what the internet holds, is not structured and neither organized. Adding on, heaps of information can be gathered by the internet, but you might even come across errors, misconstructions and information that isn’t necessarily accurate a 100 percent of the time.
Although the Internet is demarcated as a global causation of separate networks by the academic world, confidential parties, industry and even the government. In the beginning, the internet was provided to help interconnect workrooms (labs) that took part in government research and so ever since the year 1994 it has grew to serve millions of people in each and every part of the world.
Changes are being made to the internet all the time. The social web and mobile technology are two things that have made clear of its recent evolution. These two modernized things have made
Censorship is the assassination of ideas. It causes people to be ignorant which makes them not pay any attention to the world around them. Many people see what is happening right in front of them but choose to not direct their attention, not knowing if something terrible is going on. Censorship conceals all the things that would make people have their own voice. It prevents all of the ideas that are made from people to be heard.
What is Censorship? Censorship is the examination, supervision, and/or control of information and ideas within access of the general
Censorship is a great idea, but a horrible way to effect entertainment. In my own mind censorship is rarely good idea, because it can be overused and not give an accurate picture of an event or show, but if not used enough, too many are exposed to violence, profanity and sexual content before they should. Television and radio are the most censored forms of entertainment available with the internet and video games following respectively. But, sometimes censorship is better than the alternative: like in movies that could be seen by large amounts of children, and sometimes in the news. Censorship should only be used to tone events, phrases and ideas down in the media not to remove those ideas from the media.
To understand censorship, you have to start at the beginning. Censorship, no matter the definition, is when people who have power, wish to limit the knowledge of what we are receiving, or what we are expressing. We have not always had the rights we have now. Benjamin Franklins brother and employer, was actually arrested and lost his printing license for expressing criticism in his newspaper about politics. Censorship was going
From books to the internet, it is very easy to get any information quickly. Although this may be true you can’t find everything you may be looking for, there are things out there that are censored. Censorship is the restriction of certain information to one or a group of people, from others who think it’s dangerous. Censorship can be used in beneficial ways to protect people, but it is often misused to harm people long-term. Here is some information about some negative impacts of censorship. Why is censorship bad if used for a prolonged period of time?
“When you have strict censorship of the internet, young students cannot receive a full education. Their view of the world is imbalanced. There can be no true discussion of the issues”(Ai Weiwei). Simply being said, censorship of any sort is in my opinion the door to an uneducated, and ignorant society. To look at something that is overflowing with symbolism and good virtues to learn at adolescence, and then say that it is dangerous and not worth considering just because it doesn’t coincide with the ideology you align with, is absolutely a threat to our society, and civilization as a whole. It is because we have differing views that any human progress has ever occurred. To simply say that we are a nation of people and not a nation of ideas is
Censorship is a controversial topic argued about on an everyday basis. Censorship is all about perspective, one side argues that some materials should be censored while the other side argues it should not be censored. Censorship has subtypes of itself meaning it is separated into categories. The three categories are Moral Censorship, Political Censorship, and Book Censorship. Moral Censorship is the removal of materials that are thought to be obscene, to better the public view. Political Censorship is when the government partakes in blocking information from their citizens. Lastly, Book Censorship is banning novels by the nation or state, in some cases a school, if a community finds it to be inappropriate for the public to see. All 3 of these categories affect a country or nation and their citizens. Censorship can affect the internet, music, and films as well (The Spectator 1).
Students and adults should be censored to keep America great. It plays a very big role in our society. It keeps the dark corners of the internet safe for children and even some adults. Without censorship the world would fall apart. Cyberbullying can be prevented and so can regular bullying. Censorship is the act of changing a message, including the change of deletion, between the sender and the receiver. Censorship is a tool that can be used to accomplish good or evil. Censorship is used to monitor lyrics in music, books that go against reader’s belief, television content that is explicit and obscene, and internet and magazines that prohibit pornographic content.
Thereexists a contrasting point of view. Some people argue, that censorship is necessary, because nobody needs to know the negative things that happen in the world or in the country. This is an erroneous view, as every popular newspaper appreciates its reputation and therefore, even in the absence of censorship, it will check the information reliability. These magazines will not use abnormal vocabulary or advertise something negative, drugs or weapons, for example. That is why censorship is not needed even in the aspect, how magazine provides information.
Today’s society is masked by censorship. This questions people to say, is censorship harmful or helpful? Censorship isn't harmful, for it is helpful in keeping military and terroristic secrets, keeps cyberspace safe, and protects children from graphic content, which is seen in sources A, E, and H.
Imagine a society without censorship, where everyone knows each other’s secrets, it would be lethal for society. What would happen if people knew one’s weaknesses?. There is evil that needs to be censored. Censorship is necessary in our society for many different reasons. It protects nations, prevents conflict in society, it protects the morals/privacy of people, and it is also helpful for children.
The concept of whether censorship is more harmful or helpful has been argued over for years. What exactly is censorship? Censorship is defined as the act or practice of removing things that are offensive, immoral, harmful to society, etc. Although many believe censorship is oppressive, censorship is generally more helpful, as its goal is only to remove what is harmful, and here is why. Censorship is necessary to human’s society because it restrains vulgarity, protects the minds of children, and protects society.
Censorship...is it good? No one will know until they try. 75% of parents in the United States think video games, music, books, movies, and TV shows, should be censored because it’s causing violence.
For many, the beginning of censorship is what helped shape the mind of difference. The world has changed since the early years of conservative vision (Schirtzinger, pg 4). “Originally, for one to censor it meant to assess, to value, it is a form of a much touted but rarely practiced “critical thinking” which was then called “judgement”. Later, to censor began to be associated with a purely negative connotation (Mattix, pg. 2)”. In other words censorship is the suppression of words, images or ideas that are “offensive” ( Schirtzinger, pg. 5). Censorship usually happens whenever someone succeeds in imposing their political or moral values on others. So, the question is “who gets to decide what’s offensive? (Schirtzinger, pg. 3)”
.In our current world, it is extremely easy to have acess to porn. Typing the word “sex” on Google can get you millions of matches.
