You're in an uncomfortaldy dead silent classroom, and all of a sudden your stomach decides to sing the song of the whale. It's happened to us all, and how embarassing it is. Why cant we munch away freely on the desired snacks of our choice? Will gummi bears or poptarts be the destroyer of classrooms? I think not. But no, unfortunately food, glorious food, is banned from our foodless classrooms. We all have different appetites, can all focus with full stomach, and mess wouldn't be an issue. Is it really necessary to take away what keeps us going everyday?
I attend school five days out of the week and expect delicious food to be served for breakfast and lunch. Instead, I am given food that does not make my stomach happy, but leaves it
Now, for the final, and more of a less known issue is how our schools have the order of lunch every week. For most people, it gets boring and repetitive when we have to eat the same food over and over again. The only thing they change is the fruits and maybe the chips, but that is it! Chicken sandwich, steak nuggets, tacos, nachos, pizza, repeat. It is not even the good kind of pizza or nachos, it is just some weird, fake, manufactured food. Since we eat the same food every week, it the same uncooked, cold chunks in the food that we bite into all of the time. The worst part is that sometimes on mondays, they give us leftovers, and look brand new! That is how you know they are
Babe Ruth has been absolutely outstanding so far in his young career. He has broken multiple records and has won multiple championships and he isn’t looking to stop now. He loves the game of baseball. He has said, “The only real game, I think, in the world is baseball.” This shows how much passion he plays with when doing the thing he loves.
As a result of the bad food, students do not eat in the cafeteria. They walk out of the cafeteria without eating. They can’t focus on their work because they are hungry. Students survive on snacks and junk food, which is also unhealthy.
GUM CHEWING IS AGAINST THE RULES AT GREENBRIER MIDDLE SCHOOL. The reason I am copying this paragraph is because I was chewing gum in class. Gum chewing is not allowed in school for the following reasons:
On behalf of the students of Clackamas High School we would like to discuss the problem of feeding in our cafeteria. We noticed that lots of high schoolers consume unhealthy lunches everyday only because they don’t have a different option. That leads to weight issues and skin problems. Lots of students just don’t realize how many junk food they are eating during those four years of studying here. I believe that everyone is able to make their own choice but when you are hungry, you don’t really care about what to eat.
The lunch bell sounds and students run to get an nutritious meal but, it's really not nutritious.
This results in tiredness and crabbiness. Healthy and tasty food selections should be given during lunch time and are given. Most schools sell food that are popular and interest the students to eat (@Aschenbrenner). Even doctors have agreed that junk foods affect the body in negative ways. So why take the risk and sell them to students? Because the kids want to eat stuff like that. Also, schools’ have budgets. These budgets are to help the whole school get what they need. They have enough money to buy certain amounts of food. The other money goes to the school faculty, maintenance, and campus structure. The school does not have money to serve the entire world or anything. Parents at home do all they can to serve the most nutritious and healthiest food to their kids. The school’s job isn’t to feed the kids but to teach them math, science, ELA, history, etc. All in all, schools and school boards are trying really hard to give students the
Lunch at school may be the only meal each day for some students. Therefore, school lunches need to provide a good portion of a child’s daily calories. Being hungry during the day causes students to lose concentration on education. School lunches should be a big enough proportion
Research shows that school lunches are highly concentrated in salt, sugar and unsaturated fat. Elementary, middle and high schools are over populated with vending machines, school stores and snack bars. It is not uncommon for a student to grab more than 2 or 3 snacks at once from the lunch line without
The food schools ban children from eating in the United States ,are actually staples in many others countries diets and those countries have lower obesity rates. This is worthy of attention because, if we are so worried about our students becoming obese then we should not ban these important staples that cause less obesity in other countries. When they can help us create a healthy eating habit for these minors why should we ban these healthy meals? This quote from Gale opposing viewpoints says to think about it this way: ¨Consider that in France, where the childhood obesity rate is the lowest in the Western world, a typical four-course school lunch (cucumber salad with vinaigrette, salmon lasagna with spinach, fondue with baguette for dipping and fruit compote for dessert) would probably not pass muster under the Healthy,
"Tick tock, tick tock. It is 20 minutes until lunch but I am starving!" Some days in high school I would have lunch at 11:00 a.m., or the next day it would be 1:20 p.m.. I would be starving. When I should have been paying attention to class I was not because I was more focused on how hungry I was and how long it was until it was time to eat. Yet, when getting to lunch, the meals seems to not have enough to fill my stomach up or it was so gross I did not even dare to take a second bite. People are misinformed on school lunches due to the fact they do not know what is being served or why exactly what is being served is being served. Not eating and eating too much of the wrong stuff are all problems of childhood hunger. Recently when students go to lunch their meals are being based off of Children Nutrition Programs or a different type of health related program.
Students should be allowed to eat snacks during the class period. This will give them brain food , it would be healthier, and students wouldn’t have hunger during class. I think that if they were allowed they would be happier.
Teachers also might say, well this is very unhealthy for you. Sure, it's not very healthy, but that's why we should also have a salad bar. My school has a salad bar anyways, so we could just keep that, and that would be our healthy food for the day. When I go to lunch at school, I always get croutons, because that is the only thing that I will eat. It's not good for my health, but it’s much better than eating food that is going to make me sick. Eating school lunch is kind of like getting food poisoning. Nasty, and makes you throw up.
“Some schools are thinking of banning snacks from lunch” I hope that my school doesn't ban snacks for these reasons. Some reasons are that kids don't want to have a boring lunch and also its the kids choice to pick the healthier choice. One reason someone might disagree with me would be depending on what their main meal it they may not balance out with what they are eating.
Junk food, junk food, junk food is around all corners of schools. Chocolate, cookies, soda, potato chips, and Sour Strings may sound delectable to some people, but are they nutritious? Some people wonder if there should be a change. Encouraging exceptional nutrition in schools is essential by reasons of students will consume foods that are better for them, schools will pay less for meals, and fewer students would go hungry.
