At last week’s match against the New Orleans Pelicans, where the Houston Rockets won 100:95, two Houston Community College students were shadowing Rockets employees on a game day at the Toyota Center.
The Houston Community College is an educational partner of the Houston Rockets.
Although not everyone is needed on the court, there are many more things to do on a game day from security, concessions, cameramen and journalists, dancers and performers and among many others, promoters.
The HCC students trailed in the footsteps of the promoters.
Even though the game started at 7pm, the workday for the promoters started at 2pm. By that time the stadium was already bustling hours before opened it to the audience.
After meeting the game day

IVAN MEDINA:
I have been to plenty of sporting matches but I have never really payed attention to anything on the jumbotron besides the game info and any replays. Well after my experience shadowing the Game Operations team for the Houston Rockets last week I have a whole new respect for the unseen, and unnoticed individuals responsible for your in-game entertainment. Although the game starts at 7, the real work begins hours before; promos must be created and scheduled, equipment and props must be gathered and staged, and dozens of t-shirts must be rolled tight before showtime.
The production meeting takes place fifteen minutes before doors open where everyone goes over their assigned schedules. In the world of sports nothing is predictable, there are no scheduled commercial breaks besides halftime, so everything is scheduled around time outs. Anything and everything could go wrong so backups must be in place in case a planned segment does not work or possibly a timeout does not occur in a

My first assignment was to run up to section 430 and find two fans dressed in Rockets swag to receive a free seat upgrade and tickets to a future game. Once they were picked out a message had to be sent upstairs so the cameramen know where to shoot during the second time out in the first quarter. Our whole night was like this, we had to gather and make sure the people for these scheduled promos were in their seats the entire time until the segment was completed. It wasn't all work though, we got to spend a considerable amount of time on the court before, during, and after the
It’s too bad I had a real job to do covering sporting events most of those nights.
Competition is a unique situation in life to analyze. If you can focus on the small details outside of the game, there’s a possibility that you can understand the way an athlete is performing and why a coach is behaving a certain way. In the heat of the moment, if not properly trained, one can not perform to their potential due to the pressure that the moment of competition can place on an individual. This can be just as much for coaches and how they react and act as much as it goes for player. Effective coaches know how to use the situation to their advantage and know what to do or how to react at the appropriate time. In this paper, I’ll examine the competition of the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh Titans and the St. Thomas Tommies in a NCAA Division 3 playoff game. I’m watching this game from the UW-Oshkosh side, so I will be observing the UW-Oshkosh football team for the most part. With this competition between UW-Oshkosh and St. Thomas, I’ll break down this paper into four talking points and the effects of said points. These four points are pre-competition routine, feedback and reinforcement by coach, game flow and interruptions and then other thoughts and factors that I noticed during the game.
The concept of bullying in the school system has been linked to many homicides and
Pennhurst was the heart of the “Human Rights Movement” that revolutionized America’s approach to health care for mentally and physically handicapped. Like many similar facilities of that era, Pennhurst functioned almost completely independently from the rest of society. Pennhurst produced its own food, operated its own power plant, and policed its own grounds. Pennhurst housed 2,791 people most of them children.Only 200 of the residence were in any type of arts, education, or recreation programs that would help them mingle in society. If there was a bully that needed taken care of then, the doctors would give him a drug that would make him the most uncomfortable but wouldn’t cause any permanent injury. There were a lot of bullies at Pennhurst that the staff knew about and didn’t do anything to stop them from bullying other patients. Such patients needed to be restrained for their own
This source gives a brief description of the final scene with the character; Gabriel talking to Saint Peter and telling him to open the gates for his brother Troy. It also gives a brief description of the significance of this scene and the characters in a Christian view. It also tells about how blues music influenced August’s work and how he portrayed the African American people during this time.

The coding of the questionnaire replicates whether the statements were descriptive of the members
The mens’ soccer game vs. South Alamacen was the athletic event which I attended. The game was at home at the soccer field and it started at 6:00 PM, August 23. The game was comprised of two 45-minute halves with no overtime, so it was possible for the game to end in a tie. Early in the first half of the game, South Alamacen scored two goals, making the score 2-0 with South Alamacen in the lead. With 26 minutes remaining in the first half, NCSSM scored which made the score 2-1. Three minutes later, South Alamacen scored which made the score 3-1, but two minutes after that Joe Benson scored for NCSSM making the game 3-2 with 20 minutes left in the first half. Many students were in attendance, with more students showing up as halftime drew to a close. By halftime, there was a student section full of kids while parents filled up the other two bleachers.
One of the top sporting events in the world is considered to be the NCAA March Madness tournament. This tournament is ranked third just behind the super bowl and FIFA World Cup. It’s unbelievable to think that one of the top sporting events in the world is in college athletics. You have other professional sports like basketball, baseball, hockey and NASCAR, but there championships still don’t compare to the NCAA championship. March madness is so popular that global firms Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc believe that companies are expected to lose about $1.2 billion because of every hour of work that employees are watching games instead of working (Koba, 2014). These employees will spend on average 90 minutes a day at work watching
“I’m starting to think I don’t feel anything anymore” quote by Alex Libby (Hirsch). There are
Before the gold rush, Buck, a St. Bernard used to live in a plush, big house, going swimming, and going hunting with the Judge’s sons, but when he was stolen from his “family” and from his happiness he must adapt fast to the harsh environment. In this story, Buck changes from a domesticated animal into a fierce, primitive wolf, killing with no thought or regret but for blood. In the book The Call Of The Wild by Jack London, the theme is decivilization, three examples which proves this is, Buck stealing food from other dogs, Buck finding out that John Thornton is dead, and Buck killing the Yeehats.
According to the National Association of State Boards of Education, 2009, The Kentucky bullying law is as follows:
“It’s the sport of Kings, better than diamond rings…..football…..football.” (LL Cool J, 1986). All across the country, football, both college and professional, has its own cult-like following. Fans of both leagues eagerly anticipate kick-off whether it is on Saturday, for college football fans, or Sunday, for professional football fans. An additional fix is available for college football fans on Thursday. Professional fans get their extra dose on Monday nights. Admittedly, there are many similarities among the National Collegiate Football Association (NCAA) and the National Football League (NFL). Both have extremely loyal, boisterous, and diehard fans. Both play four quarters and the players try their best to get the ball across the goal line. Although there are more similarities in how the game is played, it is the differences that will have respective fans insisting one is better than the other. Differences, such as the two-minute warning, the knee-down rule, and over time, distinguish the professional from the collegiate player (See Table 1).
The TV industry has changed a great deal. The sport programming and the overall coverage of games has truly set a new standard for everyone who plays and loves sports. The cameras now are showing HD images even. The direction of professional sports has been dramatically effected by broadcast media. Howeve, their interpretations, creation of drama and their ability to establish certain ideas for other people about what happens in sports can not be denied. (Brown, S.P) Such was the case for Donovan McNabb and Redskins coach Mike Shanahan after Shanahan pulled McNabb off the field and replaced him with a white Quarterback in the final two minutes of a game against the Detroit Lions.
At games there has to be a medical professional that is licensed on the side lines
Although football games and soccer matches take sixty and ninety minutes respectively, competitive soccer requires much less time than football. Soccer lasts longer when just observing the clock, but due to the constant stopping that takes place in a football game, soccer matches conclude faster. In addition, the amount of commercials broadcasted during a football game remarkably increases due to breaks in the action. With football’s timeouts, injuries, change in possession, and the four quarters, watching a game at home could mean hundreds of commercials. On the contrary, while watching soccer, one only endures commercials at halftime and, very rarely, during an injury in which a player becomes seriously hurt. Soccer games run more fluidly
