“A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. Regardless of personal political views, that is an honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact.”
Data indicates that it takes years for the trauma associated with military combat to appear, hence the name post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). After the Vietnam War it took nine to twelve years before veterans began showing up at homeless shelters in large numbers. It’s unfortunate that ANY veteran who we reposed special trust and confidence in would someday find themselves living on the street at ANY point in their life.

Tackling a project of this magnitude will require several phases of execution. The phases are as follows: Non-for-profit (NFP) entity start-up, Financing, Acquisition, Renovation, and Management.
PHASE ONE: NFP START-UP
The first step we need to take is to establish a NFP entity with the primary mission of providing stable housing for up to 24 months to military veterans. The ability to provide this type of housing for veterans via a NFP entity will enable the organization to be eligible for a number of government funded grants such as the Veteran Administration’s Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program and the Illinois Energy Grant. The estimated cost to establish a NFP is $3,300. This price includes but is not limited to assistance with the development of mission statement, narrative of core programs and services, a three year operational budget with financials, formation of NFP bylaws, articles of incorporation filing, the preparation and submission of the 501(c) 3 application and various identification codes. PHASE TWO: FINANCING This project will require a large amount of money for both capital and operations. From a capital standpoint our end state is to build a facility that provides: 1) supportive housing for up to 10 homeless Veterans in need of immediate and intensive services; and 2) affordable housing for up
