I’ve always worked towards finding ways to enrich my education from the time I was in grade school and the Honors Contract Program is the perfect place to continue this behavior. I believe I can leverage my driven personality and strong sense of curiosity to be of most value to the Honors Contract Program. My drive can be found in the pride I take in my work. I am very results oriented and strive for excellence to ensure everything I am a part of is my absolute best. I’ve illustrated this during my time with Adept Marketing, where I put in many late nights researching articles on search engine optimization so I could apply my knowledge to my projects the following day. Secondly, I feel I can use my curiosity to develop a collaborative climate
I define myself as a curious researcher and reflective practitioner who perceives legal education as a combination of passion and practicality. Whereas my idealistic side wants to thoroughly understand the development of global legal ethics, my pragmatic side asks what actions should be taken by lawyers to solve international legal problems. Hence, Penn Law’s core strengths in providing a remarkably interdisciplinary learning experience and the program of Legal Practice Skills will be the bridge to my academic and professional aspirations.
As a member of four national honor societies, I believe my presence in those organizations has made me a good candidate for the College Scholars program. I was invited to the National English Honor Society, Rho Kappa (Social Studies National Honor Society), National French Honor Society, and National Honor Society. All four have enhanced my academics, social skills, and intuition. In the National English Honor society, we are challenged to utilize our writing skills for the betterment of our community. Our main project this year was creating little messages that promoted suicide prevention. We would then attach the message to a knitted heart and hang them all around our school. Rho Kappa has gifted me with an appreciation for the United States
I plan to contribute and positively impact the experiences of the students, the staff, and the program as a whole by applying myself in a variety of roles to exemplify a model student throughout my participation in the Honors Program.
It is an honor to be chosen as a candidate for membership in the National Honor Society. Academics, leadership skills, service abilities, and character are four principal parts of a superior student. I believe that I am inclusive of all these aspects needed to become a part of this prestigious group. Becoming a member of this organization is important to me, because it will help me get into an excellent college and push me to work harder in school.
As a freshman at the University of Maryland, I am pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber Security. I formerly attended the Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College, a dual enrollment program in which I graduated with my High school diploma and an Associates of Arts degree in General Studies. Having a unique experience by attending these different school has allowed me to become familiar with technical communication in a multitude of ways, whether it is in the work place or school related. Being vice president of the national honor society, being a barista at Peet’s coffee shop, and with being fluent in multiple languages I have used technical communication to encourage people to “take action” in a multitude of ways. Whether it was influencing people to join the national honors society or trying to get customers to buy a new coffee drink, I have consistently been able to encourage others to “take action” with whatever it may be. Over time I have learned the do’s and don’ts of being a technical communicator, and I now understand what must be done to accomplish a task through technical communication.
I will engage in research, acquire hands-on experience, and apply what I learned in class in real life scenarios to make an impact on people’s lives. I will partake in service opportunities like my current roles in NHS and FNHS. My personality will benefit those around me. Honors College will place me in courses with exceptional students who are dedicated and focused. They will push my performance as a student. Even now, classmates gauge their performance with mine and vice versa. As a result, they motivate me to catch up or stay ahead of the competition. Competition is the catalyst for improvement. Likewise, I always encourage my peers to do their best, for I want to see individuals succeed. Moreover, there is no point enrolling in classes that won’t challenge me; where I am perched at the top. There is no intellectual growth there. Whereas, challenging courses and talented students help establish high goals for me. This symbiotic relationship between my peers and I will springboard us to greater
I, Deborah Destahun, believe I would be a good fit in National Honor Society because I already uphold to NHS standards; I am: a leader, a volunteer and a dedicated person. I am committed and will show up on time in an orderly manner.
I am genuinely honored to be one of the few students considered for acceptance to the State College Area High School chapter of the National Honor Society. I feel that my hard work and dedication in academics is beginning to show through. Throughout my life, I have shown drive and devotion for everything in which I have been involved, ranging from athletics to academics. My mentality has always been focused on helping others. For this reason, I aspire to become an orthopedic surgeon so that my career will evolve around helping others to get the most out of their lives. My summer will be spent volunteering at Phoenix Rehab for fourteen hours each week as it will allow me to begin providing care to the community. Currently holding an unweighted
Before my undergraduate freshman year, I have been searching for a field that I would be passionate about. In the summer, I would participate in an event that can enhance my skills. Notably, the program called Joaquin-Bustoz Math-Science Honors Program (JBMSHP) increased my love for math and science. The students spend eight hours per day learning a math course. Using the mathematical contents, my teammate and I built up a research topic to work for the eight week of the program. Every day, many students stayed up until 2PM to complete over 75 math problems. If the homework was lower than an 80%, we would go to a night tutoring. The program was intense and nerve-wrecking. In the beginning, I was doubting myself if I could ever continue it until
For the past three years I have been convinced that although I was in classes with the smart kids, I was not one of them, but maybe, I am different after all. I was raised with the expectation to have a perfect GPA and to grow up and do something amazing to make a lot of money. Because I did not have a 4.0 GPA from the start, I was under the assumption that I was not smart or good enough and therefore would never qualify for anything, especially not for the National Honor Society. But I worked hard, I pushed myself as far as I could, and never gave up, even through tough times. I made sure that I put forth my best effort and finally, my Senior year, I believe that I meet the standards for which the NHS is looking for; scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
As a STEM student in the Biomedical pathway I am constantly introduced to new forms of science every single day, which is certainly a privilege because as a STEM student I am exposed to new ways of learning which aren’t covered in a typical classroom setting. In fact, Science is my favorite subject because it’s a constantly evolving subject that is responsible for the fluidity of earths processes. Moreover, my interest to increase my knowledge base leads to my interest in the Science aspect of the Governor’s Honor Program.
As I pursue my second bachelor’s degree in mathematics, I remind myself that a well-rounded education is made by coupling different subjects like science and mathematics with the arts and humanities. Having a good grasp on different academics is a good balancing tool to create a whole bodied education as well as good preparation for higher learning and career progression. I find that a great way to maintain a high standard of education is to partake in an honors program because it demands much more than its regular counterparts which in turn offers a greater reward of understanding. I want to use IUE Honors Program to help me develop better critical thinking skills necessary for making important decisions when the time arises. Rather it be the additional course load or supplemental instructions offered by honors courses, I plan to use this program to help me map out different insights into problem solving.
I am a member of the Honors College and need to complete an Honors Contract for the Fall 2017 semester. I was wondering if you would be willing to allow me to complete an additional component for the F402 course in order for it to count as honors credit.
Somewhere over the rainbow, I wish to find what most expect...gold! However gold to me is a happy life, family, and wealth, which is not measured as currency, but measured as a life rich in experience. Each of these “pieces of gold” are extremely important to me. Each can be acquired through knowledge, passion, and a driven nature. I believe that I possess each of these attributes and wish to exploit these characteristics with the help of the University of Nebraska Omaha’s Honors Program. I feel that the UNO Honors Program will push me to reach my goals and challenge me intellectually. Knowledge is one of the most important tools human beings have harnessed over the span of our existence. It is what keeps us moving forward and making advancements.
The Statement of Purpose is the part of the application which likely plays a huge part in any success. Take your time crafting the best Personal Statement you can. Your SoP should elaborate on the strengths you 've brought up in your application, and should refer to the traits JET is looking for. Provide brief anecdotes about experiences you 've listed in the application. Show some personality, give the interviewers a reason to remember you. Also, have other people look over your SoP. This is a professional-calibre essay, not something for an intro English class.
