The Holy Roman Empire
The Holy Roman Empire was a large political unit loosely modelled on the roman empire. The first emperor was Charlemagne, and the last was Francis II. the Empire was created in 800CE, when pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne in Rome, and was dissolved when Francis II abdicated, following his defeat at the hands of Napoleon. It included all or parts of modern day Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland, and was affiliated with multiple other countries as well .
The Empire lacked cohesion, as it was unable to develop a regional identity, due to its lack of a clear capital . The Holy Roman Empire had lost much of its authority

These theses, also known as the “Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences,” were a direct attack against the selling of indulgences – a practice that absolved sins in their entirety or in part, shortening a stay in purgatory. Luther thought this an abuse of church power, and doctrinally unsound. In his theses, he argued that the pope did not have the power to remove guilt, and that the selling of indulgences endangered the souls of Christians, providing them with a false belief that they had been forgiven for their sins. He taught that the Bible was the highest authority, and that justification was through faith alone . The papacy did not take kindly to these attacks on their authority, excommunicating Luther in 1521. The theses have a great impact on the early modern period, not because they were an attack on the catholic church’s authority in all matters of faith, but because they were written in the same period as the printing press, which allowed them to be distributed quickly through Europe – leading to widespread discontent with the
The Empire started to decline when it started being attacked by external enemies. In document 6 you can see by the map and title that many individual attacks were taking place across the Western Roman Empire. In document 5 it states, “...(Consequently) foreigners poured into this… void (lack of soldiers).” To breakdown, the text states that the Western Roman Empire had a lack of soldiers
2: The first “Holy Roman Emperor” was Charlemagne and he received this title by the Pope Leo the third because he was able to unify most of western Europe and he gave the Pope his protection after the Roman Empire fell.
Luther strongly disagreed with the selling of indulgences. He challenges the Church with a debate using a document he calls the “95 theses”. The 95 theses was a result of two points: the Bible is the central religious authority and
The Catholic church were giving people false impressions that if you paid a certain amount of money, you would be forgiven and receive salvation. Luther’s “95 Theses” wanted the people to realize their salvation and remorse solely relied on their faith, not false indulgences. Luther then elaborates on why the Pope is using false indulgences to pay for the construction of St. Peter’s bascilica and not using his own money. Luther continues to make valuable points stating the church’s governance should be based only on the word of God and each individual should read and interpret the Bible for himself. To spread the word, Martin Luther posted his theses in the Wittenburg church. However, it was not until the printing press that word truly got out as far as Europe and throughout the Holy Roman
Rome was considered one of the greatest empires in history, but eventually the empire meets its end. Although there were many factors contributing to its downfall, there were four major reasons for the fall of the western roman empire. They were political issues, economic problems, dangerous diseases and attacks from foreign invaders.
The Roman Empire was one of the largest and most influential empires in all of history. By 476 AD, it had completely fallen apart, why? The Roman Empire began in 27 BC with the first emperor, Augustus, overseeing it. At the empires greatest extent, it held control of nearly all Europe including areas such as modern day France, Britain, Mesopotamia and North Africa. Its existence inspired a future of empires that would aspire to be just like the Roman Empire. The empire was the economic and religious center of Europe and helped the religion of Christianity grow massively. However, by the year 476 AD, Germanic tribes now controlled Rome. The once dominant empire had been losing its authority due to a number of internal and external pressures.
Although political instability and various social crises contributed to the eventual fall of the Western Roman Empire, economic misfortune was the primary cause of the collapse, as a decrease in trade and agricultural production resulted in specific social and political problems that made the Empire vulnerable to invading barbarian tribes. Poor harvests, inflation, and a pressing tax burden severely damaged the economy of the Western Roman Empire. Farm production declined during the late Third Century as small farmers could not compete against the barbarians and Roman commanders who ravaged their fields and stole their livestock. The monetary system was also troubled by debased coinage and most significantly, inflation. The denarius, the
Three of the many major causes of the fall of the Western Roman Empire was the decline in the loyalty of the army during the second century, the invasion of the Huns, and the moving of the capital from Rome to Constantinople by Constantine. These causes drained power from the Roman government adding to its instability and inability to deal with the problems it was facing in the fourth and fifth centuries. These resulted in the collapse of Roman power, the conquering of Rome and the end of the Western Roman Empire in 476 A.D. The loyalty of the army played a major part of the Roman collapse.
Martin Luther wrote the Power and efficacy of indulgences .Know as the 95 theses. Martin Luther came up with the 95 theses in Germany in Wittenberg. These 95 theses show what the church was doing wrong in his time this change the course of the catholic church. See the church would take and fool the good christian people by take and stealing their money. Like if the person was having a bad day they would come to the church and the pope are monks would tell them they could feel mary, or anybody from the bible bones are some fake holy relic or they told them they could drop money in a pot and when it hit the bottom there person they to wanted to go to heaven went .

Most children grow up having dreams and wanting to succeed. So, what if someone told these children that they could not succeed, just because their parents’ income is low and where they live is not great? Unfortunately, this is not just a made up scenario. When pressed to meet national standards of success, some school systems fail; unfortunately not only do they fail themselves, but they fail the students’ ability to succeed. For years the problems that lead to a failing education system have been examined. Specifically, in the movie Waiting for Superman, the audience is presented with specific failing systems or “dropout factories” and how they affect the education of the students. The overall goal of Waiting for Superman is to raise awareness for the failing public school system in hopes that someone makes a difference. The movie analyzes and presents the problems behind the failing system by utilizing real families, factual evidence, and using the design elements of music and pacing.
