Rome’s religion was one of its largest cultural advancements. The upcoming of the Catholic church was because of Rome. (4) The emperor Constantine, was greatly responsible for this because before he was emperor, practicing the Catholic faith was illegal. Then when Constantine came into power he made it legal (14), he also was responsible for the creation of the Vatican, the most prominent Catholic capitol (15). This affects people and society greatly, because Rome without Rome’s allowance and promotion of Christianity, it would not be as big as it is today. Another huge cultural innovation the Romans created was language. They didn’t actually create language, but what they did is create Latin. Latin is one of the most important ancient languages because a lot of major languages are based off it. For example, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Romanian all come from the Latin language (6). Also, it’s estimated that 80 percent of English words are derived from Latin in some way, also the Latin characters and character sounds are similar to the English ones. Essentially we wouldn’t have the English language without Latin or the Romans. In addition to language and religion the Romans are also responsible for making the first newspaper (7). Their newspapers weren’t the same as today's, though. The Roman form of newspaper was a stone or metal slab inscribed with news or important events.
Rome used to believe in Roman mythology with many different gods. Some of the Gods were Jupiter, Juno, Minerva, Mercury, Ceres, Apollo, Vesta, Neptune, Diana, Mars, and Pluto. People used to believe that these gods ruled everyone and everything. In Ancient Rome, people worshipped the Gods their Emperor believed in. Now people believe in the Roman Catholic Church and worship one god.
The Roman Empire was, overall, an immensely successful and innovative empire; this success derived from the implementation of the Christianity religion, spreading of Romanization so that Roman subjects were united and had Roman rights, and the economical and technological advancements that flourished under the period of Pax Romana. While these benefited the Roman Empire greatly and made Rome a prosperous civilization, Rome gradually weakened and, conclusively, fell. The eventual and definite decline of Rome was caused by excessive territorial expansion, economic issues, and foreign invasions.
To start off, one invention from ancient Rome that still has an effect on the modern world is our Transportation system. Transportation is used a lot it is still used to today for importing and exporting. (doc. 3) Some of us would not even be able to get to school without transportation like roads or subways. I am going to New York. I cannot go if I don’t have transportation like a plane or car. If you did not have transportation you would have to work at home and life would not work properly. As you can see, the transportation system from ancient Rome is still needed in our world today.

Many aspects of the United States of America can be traced back to roman history. One of these aspects is the main city. Rome was the main city of the Roman Empire and the population back then was once 1.2 million and growing. Just like in the United States there is N.Y. where it is very populated. It also shares the aspect of crime because in both cities it is dangerous to walk around in the streets because of the muggings and robberies that took place all over the cities.

Not only did Rome innovate the aqueduct, but also the use of concrete! Rome’s special use of concrete enabled them to build structures that still stand today. Roman concrete was mixed to withstand chemical erosion, allowing it to withstand the water used for those pansy fountains and baths. Of course the concrete was also used for large fancy buildings such as the pantheon and coliseums etcetera, etcetera. Roman architecture is another innovation that unfortunately fell into the pit of shamelessly copied/influenced modern architecture. With all the news of architecture and the inevitable amounts of war and corruption among society, it’s only natural that Rome innovates the newspaper. The newspaper became an integral part of Roman society, because they had a lot going on, apparently. They mostly just used the papers to report on invasions and politicians for the public to be reminded how boring their pathetic Roman lives are.

Legend has it that Romulus and Remus found Rome, the twin sons of mars (Ancient Rome. (n.d.).
