I do not think that holistic treatments should be used in vet clinics due to the fact that they have not undergone as vigorous testing and screening as the modern medicine treatments offered in clinics so they should not be offered at the same location. When a vet is deciding whether to offer holistic treatments they would have to consider the possible effectiveness of the treatment on the specific animal and the possible side effects that the animal may have because of the treatment. Another factor that might influence this decision is if the animal has ever had the same holistic treatment and how the animal reacted to the treatment, whether it was a good or bad reaction. If I were a vet I would offer holistic treatments but only in a clinic
On top of providing accessible means of health care to the South Asian and Middle Eastern community of Sacramento, Shifa Clinic provides a platform for fighting health care issues and an opportunity to engage with our community. As a Afghan-American, I truly understand the challenges my community faces when trying to find resources for health care, especially those who are new immigrants. Many families do not know how to apply for health care or are unable to afford insurance. I truly appreciate how Shifa provides immediate health care to this community but also advocates for health care rights by assisting patients when they want to apply for Medi-cal through the legal clinic.

One of the best-known uses of the sentencing circle is the Hollow Water First Nations Community Holistic Healing Circle. Community members used circles to deal with the high level of alcoholism in Hollow Water. In the safety of those circles, many began to disclose experiences with sexual abuse. This led to development of healing circles as a way of dealing with the harm created by the offender, of healing the victim and of restoring the

Currently, Community Holistic Circle Healing involves multiple different aspects in order for this program to function. Since it is such a high functioning system, the team involved is busy counseling victims, families of victims, victimizers and their families, running healing circles, investigating new disclosures, attending court and even working with individuals outside of the community (Bushie, 1999). The challenge is being able to keep up with every group of individuals needs because of the heavy workload. The members partake in assessment team meetings that are bi-weekly (Bushie, 1999). These weekly meeting involve various agencies including, but not limited to, child and family services, health and social services, and the medical clinic. These
Studies postulate that over 40% of American nationals from minority groups live in poor inner city suburbs. The aspect leads to a high dependency rate among elderly individuals from the minority groups. The case study reveals that the 86 year-old Native Asian is dependent on his daughter who is a single mother. The patient further postulates bruises and injuries that reveal a possible incidence of physical abuse. Evaluation of the patient’s medical history and lifestyle also shows a decline in weight and health due to poor nutrition. Based on the patient’s history, he lacks an adequate support system to help him to cope with the adverse effects of old age such as poor mobility (Gibbs & Chapman-Novakofski, 2012). A critical analysis of the phenomenon is essential towards enhancing individuals’ knowledge on how to cope with patients who are experiencing physical abuse.
“A healing hospital is a place characterized by thousands of small and wonderful things and a few big ones. At the center is love. More than anything else, supports a strong culture of caring. It expresses the deep passion of both patients and caregivers” (Chapman, 2003). Healing hospitals focus on patient-centered care.

The Healing Hospital Paradigm The inception of the “Healing Hospital” is not new. Healing hospitals in various forms have been around throughout history. As hospitals were slowly taken over by religious orders they became more holistic concentrating on all aspects of healing including physical, mental, and spiritual. Instead of focusing on the patient as a carrier of disease and death they began to look at them as a person that has certain fundamental needs for existence. One of these needs as fore mentioned is spirituality. Spirituality simply defined “is that which relates to or affects the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. Spirituality touches that part of you that is not dependent on material things or
I am a dog breeder and able to test essential oils then view the results. I have attended many classes, read numerous books, listened to countless podcasts on essential oils. I have had the pleasure to speak with a few holistic vets who use essential oils. I tried out suggested applications and discover first hand, if the remedies are good solutions.

Having a headache is one of the most common ways of affecting peoples lives. For years headaches have been putting people in bad moods, causing fights, and even causing serious health problems. Let me start by describing what is a headache and the types. A headache is a pain in the head caused by dilation of cerebral arteries or muscle contractions or a reaction to drugs (Diamond & Falk,1982). There are many types of headaches people get, here are some and what they are. A migraine is thought to be associated with an abnormal spasm of the blood vessels in the brain and is therefore referred to as a "vascular headache". A tension headache, which used to be referred to as a "muscle contraction headache", is associated with tension in
When someone chooses alternative care he must take into consideration its dangers. One could actually overdose on vitamins or misuse herbal therapies. "Instead of feeling better, I felt increasingly worse, like a spaced out zombie" complained Carol Copeland, a former holistic patient who almost lost her life to cancer because her homeopathic physicians were too proud to think they were wrong thus they neglected an ovarian cyst (Copeland 104 & Wekesser 95). Another problem with these unconventional health care alternatives is that they give false relief. What this means is that when someone uses a holistic remedy and then feels relief he tends to credit the remedy. This method does not hold water because most ailments resolve themselves (headache for example). Nevertheless, holistic medicine has strengths. One, it recognizes the psychological, environmental and social aspects of illness. Two, it involves the patient in his own treatment with activities etc... And three, it emphasizes preventive medicine as its base (holistic). Holistic medicine is a practice of health cares that that emphasizes treatment of the entire patient's body, mind and spirit. Homeopathic care, compared to allopathic is expensive. There are no doctor's visits or expensive antibiotic prescriptions necessary. This is not to say that doctors are not useful; obviously, if there were a serious injury one should not hesitate to go to a medical (allopathic) doctor (Smith
