History of the Holocaust

Summary: This article was an introduction to the Holocaust. The German Nazi’s thought that the Jews were a community. Not only the Jews were targeted, anyone with a racial inferiority was targeted. For example, although the Jews were the main threat the gypsies, Jehovah’s witnesses, and homosexuals and the disabled were also targeted. The Holocaust was a way to decrease the Jewish population; the final solution was to murder the Jews of Europe or anyone that was a threat to their German culture. Many died of incarceration and maltreatment. During the war they created ghettos, forced-labor camps between 1941 and 1944 the Nazi German Authorities would deport the Jews to extermination camps where they were murdered in gassing facilities. May 7, 1945 the German armed forces surrendered to the allies.

The human tragedy of the Holocaust was the systematic annihilation of millions of Jews by the Nazi regime during World War II. The adversity of this persecution influenced not only the European arena, but also peoples from all over the globe and their ideas.

It is the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation. The duration of the holocaust was from January 30th, 1933 to May 8th, 1945. The Holocaust was a dark period of time, occurring in the 20th century. It had began in the early 1930’s, and grew to become increasingly gruesome up until the mid-fourtees. The Holocaust was a mass murder of Jewish people, Romas, homosexuals, mentally and physically disabled, Jehovah’s witnesses, trade unionists and many other classes of people. Though the Holocaust was a very important part of history, there were many things distracting the German population, along with the rest of the world, leaving the Holocaust in the dark and left unknown.

The Holocaust of 1933-1945, was the systematic killing of millions of European Jews by the National Socialist German Worker’s Party (Nazis) (Webster, 430). This project showed the treacherous treatment towards all Jews of that era. Though many fought against this horrific genocide, the officials had already determined in their minds to exterminate the Jews. Thus, the Holocaust was a malicious movement that broke up many homes, brought immense despair, and congregated great discrimination. The Holocaust was an act of Hell on earth.

There are several events in human history that left a mark but the Holocaust is one of the significant major events that captured people’s attention due to its enormous and horrifying amount of deaths. The Holocaust occurred from January 30 1933 to May 8 1945. People refer Holocaust to a genocide, though it was also an intentional and planned extermination of the Jews. During this period, the Jews faced a huge amount of difficulties and such experience does not appeal to anyone. The Holocaust was divided into three phases, Phase 1, which happened from 1933 to 1939, Phase 2, which occurred from 1939 to 1941 and Phase 3, which took place from 1941 to 1945.

The Holocaust was the murder and persecution of approximately 6 million Jews and many others by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. The Nazis came to power in Germany in January of 1933. The Nazis thought that the “inferior” Jews were a threat to the “racially superior” German racial community. The death camps were operated from 1941 to 1945, and many people lost their lives or were forced to work in concentration camps during these years. The Holocaust was one of the most shocking events in history that had in impact on everyone. It was not only the extermination of Jews, but also everyone who was not considered perfect. It was a terrible time to live in Germany, especially being a Jew. Since the Holocaust occurred somewhat recently, in history’s perspective, there are many primary sources and documents that explain and identify the situation of Germany in the 1900’s. Hitler is primarily responsible for the atrocities that occurred in Germany as well as key factors such as his rise to power, heavy propaganda, and the hatred towards Jews.

Lastly, another fascinating thing about the Holocaust is whether or not people have moved on from the Holocaust and considered it ‘old news’ in today’s world. Many people believe that in today’s world, we have moved on from the holocaust and considered it ‘old news’. In my opinion we have definitely not moved on or forgotten the Holocaust, how could we? The Holocaust was such a catastrophic event that changed the world forever. It will never be forgotten. In many ways the Holocaust is so disturbing but I’m glad to know about it. Hitler was wrong for killing the Jews because all people should be treated the same. It’s horrible how no one back then knew anything. And even though some did have their suspicions, they never did anything...the whole thing is sick, horrible, and terribly sad.
