YHWH is especially jealous of His deity in the hearts of his own people. By virtue of His uniqueness adn sovereignty, all His creatures owe to Him alone their worship, exaltations, and worship, praise and honor. His people should didicate their lives to show the world that YHWH is the one true and living God. As the supremely preeminent adn sovereign El Qanna, He deserves and desires our love, energies, and time. He cannot bear for us to be with another. Whoring after foreign gods and idols and motifs of spiritual infidelity, all that difile a sacred marital covenant relationship, have marred the history of Israel's relationship with
The relationship between the State of Israel and the United States of America has blossomed into a significant bilateral alliance. The ‘special relationship’ between the two countries has been the driving force behind much of the progress of the United States’ push into middle east democracy, and has helped place Israel in the company of countries who will stand by her in times of trouble. As of late, there have been increasing pushes by the Untied States for Israel to once again enter into peace talks with the Palestinians, a topic which seems to be the source of constant international commentary. These developments have brought to the forefront a rather interesting facet of the Israeli/American relationship, one which this author
Since the UN partition of Israel and Palestine in 1947, Israel has been placed in many instances of conflict between the Jewish migrants to the region and the Palestinian natives. Several conflicts resulted in open, declared war, such as the First Arab-Israeli War of 1948-1949, and the Yom Kippur War of 1973. In addition, Israel has been involved in the occupation of the West Bank and the blockade of the Gaza Strip. After the last open war, Israel’s occupation of the West Bank has been marked by the military governorate, taking political and institutional control of the region that is ethnically and religiously different than the population that resides in the Jewish state of Israel.
In Germany in 1939, the German Nazis took down almost all of Europe, and on their way, 64.5 million people, including six million Jewish people. This war could have extinguished the Jewish culture. According to Holocaust Encyclopedia, this is some of the aftermath of the Holocaust (2).
The Jewish religion makes Israel’s culture in 722 B.C. - 540 B.C. distinctive. Israel’s religion is important in the fact that it started the Catholic culture. Though most Christians do not do the same things the Jews did back then, the bases for their beliefs and ideas came from the Jews. The Israelites’ way of life was influenced by their religion. They maintained their faith even when they were being exiled. Their work, customs, laws, and other things were all influenced by their Jewish religion. The geography of Southern Israel was also important in the way that the location affected their way of life and work. These folkways and work are important since their religion influenced them. Religion was their structure of life.
1.What had happened earlier in Israel’s history at this place? How might that explain why Elijah went there? Why do you think it took forty days and nights for Elijah to reach Horeb?
The Yom Kippur War happened in October 1973, which involved the Arabs and the Israelis, as well as two superpowers, the USA and the USSR. At the end of the war, the Israelis had won. However, the Israeli government and people were shocked by how the Arabs did. The Yom Kippur War has led to a number of effects on the Arab-Israeli relations, which can be classified as two aspects, short term and long term.
The key episodes that established leadership among Israel are the accounts of their tribulations while in the wilderness and God’s responses. Starting in Number Chapter 11 the Israelites are beginning to complain about their misfortunes. It was not clear to scholars whether the Israelites were complaining to Moses or to God. Either way God herd their complaints and took it as if they were toward him. In return to their complaints God “burned against them”. “Then the fire of the Lord burned against them. And consumed some outlying parts of the camp”. Mosses then asked God to cease the fire in prayer and God did. “But the people cried out to Moses; and Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire abated”.
Josephus was a first century author who recorded Jewish-Roman history. He was born Jewish, and even fought against the Romans in the first Jewish-Roman war. But after being captured and later freed by the Roman emperor, Joseph was given Roman citizenship. Josephus’ seven-book collection of The Jewish War was written around 75AD. The Jewish War covers Jewish history from the time Jerusalem was captured, to the first war between Jewish and Roman people; the same war he fought in as a Roman citizen against his previous people, the Jews.
World War II left Europe in ruins and devastated those who lived there, but nobody was more affected than the Jews. When the war ended, the U.S. and other countries revealed to the world the amount of torture and mistreatment the Jews suffered under Nazi control. Many wanted to help these suffering outcasts, so Jewish Zionists suggested the Jews be relocated to Palestine, where they could live in peace away from others(Devine, 1). Britain and President Truman felt sympathetic for the Jews, and decided to help them establish a new Jewish homeland in the Middle East. During the formation of Israel, the U.S. played a big role by establishing a committee, supporting U.N. and Jewish intentions, and recognizing Israel as a
During their 4000-year history, the Hebrew people have experienced the likes of slavery, conquest, occupation, and exile; they have been in contact with, and influenced by ancient cultures like the Egyptians, Babylonians, and Persians. One of the main ideas that set Hebrews apart at the time was Monotheism. “Their early contribution to humankind was not wealthy empires or groundbreaking technology. Rather, it was the revolutionary idea that there was only one god. This one Hebrew god was called Yahweh. “
Beginning as early as 1500 BCE with the Olmecs, cacao spread throughout the world, becoming a luxury enjoyed by everyone from Mayan Aja, to Aztec Tlahtohqueh, from Spanish friars to French courtiers and English noblemen, to the chocolate loving throngs in the supermarkets of the world today. While chocolate was brought to the old world primarily by exploring Catholic Spaniards, many cultures and religions played vital roles in the development of the “food of the gods”. In this post, I will concentrate on the historical involvement of the Jewish people in the cacao trade throughout the centuries, and examine how, as a result of Jewish contributions that continue to this day, the holy land came to flow not only with milk and honey, but

After graduating high school, I decided to goto Israel on a one year program. I told all of my friends and family I was going to Israel for a spiritual awakening, but that was a complete lie. I went to Israel because I wanted to spend a lot of time going out in Tel Aviv and enjoying life. I was scared of going into the real world. I was scared of going to NYU and falling into a lifetime of debt. More importantly, I wanted to find myself. I wanted to figure out what I wanted with my life. High school was over. Being on the basketball team and being popular weren't gonna get me anywhere. I needed to find out what type of person I was and what I wanted my future to look like. I thought if I separated myself from my real life I would be able to find answers to these questions on my own. So I went and had the time of my life. For the first few months, my friends and I, as well as every other Jewish American in Israel on a one year program, went out a ton. The nightlife in Tel Aviv was fantastic and we were having a great time. The legal drinking age is 18 there so we were able to go out without any worries.
Reading the media headlines today and spotting names of countries such as Israel and Iran one would expect the article to be on their disputes or their ongoing nuclear power conflict. Due to the many differences that countries have cultural, religious, political and economic have influenced their relationship in so many ways throughout the history. Going back to the initial establishment of a Jewish country in the Middle East in 1917 when the Balfour Declaration was introduced with the purpose of doing that in Palestinian land the hostile relationships among Jewish and the Muslim world began. As Palestinian people never accepted for Israeli to take parts of their territory, since 1947 until today Israeli is on conflict terms with most Muslim countries.
For ages the Jewish population did not have a place to call home. They had been wandering around deserts, were once slaves in Egypt, but didn’t have any land to their name. Following the Holocaust, after many Jews had been persecuted by Hitler and the Nazis, a good portion of the overall amount of Jews in the world let alone Europe had been exterminated. As a result, Harry Truman and the UN suggested Israel, a homeland for the Jews. Tensions had been growing throughout the beginning of the 20th Century regarding the Palestinian area in the Middle East. This area was off to the side of Asia, near Africa. When the Jews and Arabs were offered part of this land, war broke out and still continues today. Even though a war happened as a result
