Hillary Clinton’s outspoken feminist attitude has gained her a significant amount of public support. She’s publicly backed Planned Parenthood and has been endorsed by NARAL, a pro-choice Super PAC. Hillary has strongly advocated for abortion rights and has expressed an unwavering passion for women’s rights as a whole. And she’s not alone in her views.
Feminism is something that has spread through my generation like a wildfire. It’s a noble cause at its core, however, I can’t help but feel that this third wave of feminism has gone too far. The general idea being projected is that if you care about human rights, you have to be a feminist, and if you’re not a feminist, you’re wrong. It’s become almost dangerous to voice disagreement with

Because I won’t be told that I’m being mistreated and oppressed, when I’m not.
Because this is the 21st century. Equality exists in this country, and women have taken advantage of it. I am grateful for the rights that historical feminism has granted me, but it’s run its course.
Because I won’t perpetuate gender inequality by pretending it’s still as big of an issue as it was a hundred years ago.
Because I shouldn’t have to constantly justify my decision to not identify as a feminist, and be insulted and looked down upon as a result.
Because we can’t afford to divide the fight for social justice and equality on a basis of gender.
Because injustice is something that reaches much, much further than male and female.
I base my political views off of my personal beliefs and values, as well as what I believe is in the best interest of the country. Feminism doesn’t fit into that. I know I’m among the minority here, but I firmly believe that an outdated, corrupted, gender-based ideology like modern feminism isn’t what this nation or the world needs to correct the injustices in it. We need real
Women have had a rough way to go for many years when it comes to equality. They face many negative things in today’s society and that is the way it has been for many years. History shows that women have been fighting for equality for decades, because many people believe they just can’t do the things that men can. There’s a website that has been helping women fight for that equality since 1966. That website is www.now.org. Before then women never really had any help. They had to rely on each other to show everyone what they could really do. Women have fought to try and end discrimination when it comes to jobs and economic justice. So the status of women throughout history has changed,
While Planned Parenthood offers cancer screening, pregnancy testing, sexually transmitted infection testing, contraception, and more, the safe and legal abortion service they provide is typically the highlight of conversation (Sexual Health Topics - Planned Parenthood). It is interesting to compare the Democratic candidates to the Republican candidates on this subject. Mr. Sanders and Mrs. Clinton wish to fight to continue Planned Parenthood’s government funding. In fact, Mr. Sanders hopes to find a way to expand the funding (Fighting For Women’s Rights). On the other hand, Mr. Trump, and Mr. Cruz wish to end the Planned Parenthood funding. Donald Trump has expressed some mixed thoughts regarding the funding and abortion. Mr. Trump believes that Planned Parenthood has done “very good work for millions of women," (Krieg). However, Mr. Trump has also said, “But Planned Parenthood should absolutely be defunded. I mean if you look at what’s going on with that, it’s terrible” (Donald Trump: “Planned Parenthood Should Absolutely Be De-Funded”). Quite frankly, I think Mr. Trump is confused. It is clear that he wishes to defund Planned Parenthood due to the abortion service provided even though he recognized the majority of work Planned Parenthood does for millions of women (Krieg). Jill Stein has not publicly commented on Planned Parenthood’s government funding; however, she did comment on the organization’s decision to endorse Mrs. Clinton (Sheer). Planned Parenthood has personally influenced my life. I work in the education branch of Planned Parenthood as a high school sexual health peer educator. In my opinion, the work Planned Parenthood does deserves and requires government funding which is why I would vote for the Democrat candidates when considering this
It took the United States too long to finally apply the principles of equality to women. With the country being founded on the principle that “all men are created equal,” there strictly should have never been issues that opposed basic human rights towards women. But because such issues did exist, and women weren’t allowed to advocate change because of societal conventions, it took a while for any sort of reform to occur. It was during the Reconstruction era that women in the abolitionist movement were inspired to take matters into their own hands and improve their situations on their own as a collective group. They didn’t need to rely on men or the government any longer because they knew that if it were up to them, nothing would change.
Feminism is a thriving force in today 's society; molding American culture since the 19th and early twentieth century 's by navigating politics with powerful voices from incredibly influential women such as Susan B Anthony, Mary Wollstonecraft and Betty Friedan. Feminism has created a rich history for itself and has been plagued with controversy since its conception but how much of that controversy is unwarranted; how many fallacies lie beneath the true rise of the organization and could it be that feminism is more harmful to gender relations then we actually realize? I believe the most important question we need to ask is; do we truly need feminism today; or for that matter has it ever been needed? If not, then why do we agree to let the opinions of one group dictate the way we live? I pose these questions because as a former feminist I find it hard to stand by and stomach the damage done to our society grounded solely on emotions; although I take solace in knowing these problems may be alleviated if we take immediate action. Before I continue my 'mansplanation ' of feminism and come off as an abhorrent sexist and biased misogynist I’d like to clarify that my views do not stem from a personal vendetta but from lots of research and years of deliberation.
Women have been held back for many years because of their gender and now that people see everyone more equally why are women still being held back. Major Eleanor
Clinton stated “Politicians have no business interfering with women's personal health decisions. I will oppose efforts to roll back women's access to reproductive health care, including Republican efforts to defund Planned Parenthood. As president, I'll stand up for Planned Parenthood and women’s access to critical health services, including safe, legal abortion.” This really gave me a reaction because I agree with Hillary 100%. All woman should be able to make their own personal health decisions without feeling like they have to do something illegal.
Radical feminists have paved the way for so many women to stand up for themselves. Many rights were made available to all women because of radical feminists. Their presence, their energy, their ideology was desperately needed during a difficult time of oppression. Some feminine acts of oppression are still frowned upon today as a form of oppression. “I would rather be a bad feminist then to not a feminist at all”, a quote by Roxanne Gay, but in this generation why should feminists have to choose between being a “good” or “bad” feminist?
when in fact, in today's society, females are doing the same things men are doing. We have female doctors, engineers and so on. furthermore, women of today are also owning business, buying their own houses and even today, society is filled with single mothers taking care of their kids
For many decades, even centuries women have been fighting for equal rights and opportunities men have. The Equal Rights Amendment was introduced in 1923, but wasn’t ratified until 1972. Why did it take 49 years to pass an amendment that gives women equal opportunities? Wait. Why do we even need an amendment to tell us that we have now can get a job that only men do. Our equal right should be something that’s given not something that’s has to be earned, but if women equal rights weren’t written on paper advantage would be taken. The main issue facing women is fighting for their equal rights and opportunities.
Feminism drives for equality and fights for women 's rights based on the belief that if women are treated fairly and have equal access to power then a fair, equal and just society will follow. This belief and drive for equality can stimulate fear that the that the uplift and empowerment of women will somehow steal power and prestige from men. I have talked to a number of male and females at the ages of 15-17 that think that make feminism out to be a negative belief, and maintain strong anti feminism ethos’. They use the derogatory term “Feminazi” which is often used in a disparaging manner to describe an “extreme” or “Militant” feminist. However this belief is only held by a small percentage of extremists that every belief and culture has… No movement should be defined by the rants of the extreme element as it is not necessarily the common belief within that movement.
Why does society believe that it is so atrocious to be a feminist? What is wrong with the fact that women are emerging from the era in which they were constantly below men in the workforce and into the era in which women are taking leadership roles and protesting things that they are unjust? Why does everyone feel the need to comment on everything that a woman does, from how she does her hair or how she behaves? Feminism means that women are empowering other women. Feminism means that women are being encouraged to break the glass ceiling. Feminism means that both genders should be afforded the same opportunities. Strong women need to be in the world, and I would love to research the fact as to why so many people seem to believe
Many people’s first reaction when they hear the word, “feminism,” is not a positive one. This is because it is often perceived, based on how it has been portrayed in the mass media, that feminism consists of unshaven, bra-burning, outspoken, radical women (often lesbians) who hate men and think of women to be the superior gender. These misconceptions have caused the idea of feminism to be completely misconstrued by people who could, in fact, benefit from the vision. When one begins to learn about and understand true feministic ideologies, they can see that there is actually nothing negative about concept at all. An idea that is based around eliminating oppression of all groups of people and individuals, feminism is actually focused on changing the social structures that we abide by which negatively impact many groups in our society. This eliminates the preconceived notion that convinces people that feminism is merely a concept surrounded by man-hating women because men, women, and children can all be diminished by oppression in some way or another. Despite what people might think, feminism is simply about changing the way that our patriarchal dominated society currently operates by doing things like advocating for continually improved rights, such as reproductive rights, promoting self-love and equality, and opening a world of opportunities in self-sufficiency by breaking gender stereotypes and leveling the playing ground, particularly in the work force, through equal opportunities.
When a vote was released in the united states regarding gender equality among women, 41% voted yes and 59% voted no. However, the backlash of this vote stated that it was ‘Unfair’ and simply filled with ‘feminists’ and ‘Gender Snobs’. Any woman who openly states that she is a feminist is automatically judged and labelled as ‘Man hater and a radical female’. The real definition of a feminist is “the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes”. So why is our society discriminating and judging any person who openly admits to wanting equal rights for women?
To admit or to label oneself as a feminist is to accept a whirlwind of judgment from those around you. It is without a doubt that the word “Feminism” or “Feminist” turns heads, and not necessarily for the right reasons. Many have resorted to mocking, disagreeing, and/or hating Feminism without even having a good grasp of what it is. The stigmas that feminists face are that they are radical, extremist, liberal, lesbians who hate men, refuse to shave and enjoy burning bras (Lee).Conversely, feminists are principally advocates for social justice and equality as well as aim for the establishment of equally divided power between the sexes. It is obvious that many are unaware of and uneducated on the misogynistic injustices plaguing our world and the toxic environment we all live in- both women and men. Feminism is a positive concept that works to eliminate injustices between both sexes and to establish the value of women, thus should be treated as such a concept instead of being a forbidden idea.
This is because they do not have a voice in society, and they do not want to cause problems. Women are required to do things that men are not because of their gender and this is an injustice.
