A four day weekend sound just about wonder, the best thing that could happen to anyone! Especially younger people that are in school, knowing the fact that they have to stress out because of homework, essays, and worst of all, waking up early. All these these things we have to keep up with can be really stressful for young people.
Yes, many parents and adults will say that kids should go to school five days a week to get as much education they should, but some really don’t think about the amount of stress they get from school. Studies show that teenagers should sleep for nine hours everyday, but studies also show that only 9% get eight hours of sleep. Can you imagine the rest of the 91% that get less just because of school! Knowing the fact
Over 87% of teenagers don’t get enough sleep and go to school tired. Teenagers have constant expectations to live up to, but with the amount of sleep they’re getting it can be seemingly impossible. The question has been brought up time and time again, should the school day start later? Because of the risks of not getting enough sleep, trying to keep up with their their busy schedules, and being in their adolescent years, having the school day start later would help teenagers around the world immensely.
At least seventy-five percent of middle school students are sleep deprived. These same students do slightly worse in school because they are not focused. Later school start times can help a school enroll and improve a student and their grades. The start time for middle schools should be later than it is now because later start times affect students lives positively.
On Monday, we continue to do the floor stretches which it helps me a lot because I feel that I am stretched well enough to do anything. After the stretches we all went to the side to practice pique turns. I kept spotting the whole time, so I won’t get dizzy when I was turning. We also tried our right and left leaps across the room. Then we tried the open side leap in which I master, but I still have to bring it higher like the rest of my classmates.
Two-fifth of all students get less than six hours of sleep! That is very bad for your body. A fit body needs sleep. Kids whose brains and bodies are developing, need more sleep than kids normally get today. Most people believe that students get enough sleep, and that it's better because they get out of school earlier.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, teenagers need 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep. However, only 34% of teens report getting 8 hours of sleep on a school night (Ming, Koransky, Kang, Buchman, Sarris, and Wagner). If we started schools later student's health would improve. It could also potentially help prevent some bad conditions that the CDC associates with prolonged sleep deprivation. People who do not get enough sleep are at a higher risk of diabetes, problems with obesity and poor mental health.
School days should start later so that kids and teens could get more sleep. It is a fact that teens on average get about 5-6 hours of sleep. Teens should get about 7-9. If we gave kids another hour or hour and a half then kids would do better with grades and not fall asleep in class. "Everybody learns better when they’re awake.”
As we all know education is a very important thing among all children in America, it's understandable why a child must meet so many hours of schooling in a year. I believe to make children want to actually go to school we should make starting time ten every morning, and let out at four. That's still seven hours of schooling each day for five days a week. It is proven that our brains work more properly with more sleep. Children dread school because waking up at six or five is very
Tears running down my rosy cheeks, sobbing and not being able to catch my breath. Shaking my head, “why, why, why,” I thought to myself. I had waited three days before the due date, to start my project, which was not the best idea. A lesson I would share with elementary schoolers would be, not to wait until the last minute to start something. Starting on things earlier, allows you to ask questions, there will be more time to perfect it and you will be less stressed.
Its 3:15 PM It’s Monday Where are your kids? Are they outside playing, in their rooms still sleeping, playing games or is he or she just getting off school. Across the nation schools are debating about whether schools should have a four day school week. Some schools have tried a three day weekend and it turned out well for students and teachers. Students have more time to do homework and projects, and afterwords students would be able to go outside to play. Other schools tried it, and it didn’t help some students that much because they would take advantage of the fact they had a three day week and put off homework. Evidence shows students should attend school four day a week to improve productivity.
A four day school week, an interesting thought for many. Some believe it will be a good thing with benefits and others think there will be more negative affects than positive. I believe that four day school weeks will be very beneficial. Even if getting a three day weekend means spending an extra hour or two at school for the four days that school will be attended. I believe that a four-day school week will be beneficial because it will give students and teachers a day to rest and get caught up with things that seem to be thrown at you during work and school time. Teachers will also be given a great opportunity to construct well-planned lesson plans with worth-while content. Not only this, but students will be given time to do homework and retain
RING! RING! The clock reads 7:00 a.m., and Suzie is late for school. She has 20 minutes to get to school, eat breakfast, and manage to stay awake during first period. Teenagers’ body clocks are set for them to begin falling asleep around 11 p.m. As a result of teens sleeping late at night, they do not receive enough sleep to keep them going all day. Although many people believe early school start times are working now, many other people strongly believe a later start time would be more effective.
In more than 40 states, over 75% of public schools start earlier than 8:30 am, which often prevents adolescents from getting recommended 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep, as a result it keeps students from learning well in schools, so the American public school system should move the starting time to between 10 and 11 am.
Students like having occasional days off for holidays or teacher days, and they don't complain about breaks either. It shows that when students go back after these days off that they seem unfocused. Since the school days would become longer for the students, then a big concern for parents and others would be the elementary children and the effect it will have on them. With the short attention span of children, people, especially parents, worry that the longer days may drain the children of their energy throughout the day which results in tired, unfocused children. Miss Jennifer Davis, Founder and President of the National Center on Time and Learning, recommends schools to not switch over to a four day school week because it is “ a move in the wrong direction” for learning considering the “reduction in total instructional hours and school time is of great concern” (8). With the cuts in school time and instructional hours, this causes students to have less time to try and focus on one subject and understand it. Other than unfocused children, schools may speed up the learning process for
Four day school weeks have been discussed by many schools, and some schools already have them. Many say that the four day school week is good for students. It is also good for teachers and the whole school. There are improvements in the school financially. Financial problems is was most of a four day school week is about.
Schools are so much a part of our society, so the accurate length of school days is extremely important. Public opinions on the length of the school days are different. There are a lot of parents and professors concerned that it is hard for children to go to school early in the morning and stay there the whole day. On the other side, some professors try to force students into a nine hour school day. Not so many years ago, school was a main part of my life, and the school days’ structure and length affected my social life and ability to study. From my own experience and some studies that I have seen, students benefit if school days are long.
