When you reach the five principles of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, it means you understand human motivation and your life is fulfilled, but the truth is, it is difficult to reach these principles because most of human beings have lack of these needs due to the style of life they have, or they are not happy with themselves or with the world in general. To find some examples of these five principles, let’s do it thru songs that can be related.
First principle: Physiological
I picked was “Earth Song” by Michael Jackson. I think this song is related with this principle because the unbalance that we have on Earth; how we depend on the nature and instead of saving the environment, we are destroying it. The song is calling people to save the world

People will always need help and I think that when you do not feel secure, there is always important to call for help. My second song was “I will Survive” Gloria Gaynor because sometime after a break up, some people feel unconfident and not safety, but after a time passes, people can come along with that security that they used to have before.
Third Principle: Love/Belonging
I picked “A Thousand Year” by Christina Perri. I love this song since the first time that I heard it. This song tells you that time can fly, and we can die but even thou he/she will love you for an eternity. My second song is “Because You Love Me” by Celine Dion. She transmits a message thru this song about the person that has been with her forever and how graceful she is to be with him. The singer cannot be more clear when she sings “You were my strength when I was weak, You were my voice when I couldn't speak, You were my eyes when I couldn't see, You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach, You gave me faith 'coz you believed, I'm everything I am
Because you loved me.”
Fourth Principle:

The other song is “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera because I like how she is trying to say the world that we are beautiful either inside or outside and we have to love ourselves for who we are. We need to have acceptance, not to the people, but us.
Fifth Principle: Self-Actualization
I picked “Superwoman” by Alicia Key because the song is about how strong woman are now compare with the past. Woman always will find a way to scape and to survive; that woman are important to the world and the society needs to know that. My second song was ‘Born This Way” by Lady Gaga. It is not a secret that Lady Gaga is a woman with no prejudice in her live. She is accepted for how she is and she invites the world to do the same. She was born like that and she does not care if people do not agree with it.
The five principles are very important to our society and to be happy for the rest of our lives; and songs help to transmit the message of Maslow. Music will always connect
I chose this song because, in my opinion, it has a good thesis that backs up the song lyrics and it gives you a positive feeling. Basically, the song is telling us to always keep our faith and stay strong no matter what. It encourages people to
In reality, I was struggling to find a song that I could really relate to. It wasn’t until I asked my parents about what song I could somehow relate to and my dad was the one who pointed out “Pelo Suelto” by Gloria Trevi. After listening to the song, he suggested, I could see why he chose that song for me. I could relate to the overall meaning behind the song.
I wanted our music to convey messages of universal love and harmony without force-feeding listeners' spiritual content."
“Big, Big World”, the first time I listened this music is when I was in elementary school. A girl played the music in the classroom, and I was attracted by the sweet-sounding melody and the singer’s clean and mellow voice. I only knew a few english words and didn’t know who sang the song, but at that time, I started realizing the charm of english music. Afterwards, I learned more about english and translated its lyric by myself. I tried to sing “Big, Big World” and understand the meaning of the song.
The song I chose was “I’m Sorry” by the artist Joyner Lucas. This song has a pretty deep meaning to me. It’s about a man who commits suicide. Last year around Christmas time I met this guy. He was a friend of a close family member of mine. He was always hanging around them so naturally we started talking. I’m the type of person who cares about people a little too much. I started noticing that he got more quiet and more to himself. I never thought he wanted to hurt himself. I trusted him and he knew he could trust me too. Things at home weren’t good. He was hurting. No kid should ever go through that (he is my age).
All cultures following prehistory had a musical background, therefore everyone can connect more effectively with a music containing a message than a speech, therefore spreading the message more effectively. “The freedom songs are playing a strong and vital role in our struggle” (MLK). In the case of the Civil Rights Movement, it was the prominent method to give the group a voice, represent them, and highlight their determination for social change. When times were hard for the movement, they would also rely on songs to sustain morale:
and the reason why I picked this song is because it presents a strong message. Not only did
I chose “Trail of Tears (song)” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YP6NdCZpbbU&list=RDYP6NdCZpbbU#t=0 because everything about it would help paint a picture for those who maybe do not uderstamd how awful the Indians were treated or what the Trail of Tears actually was. The music adds detail, providing a sort of sadness. The words also played a role in painting the picture. It is about the Indians having to leave behind their traditions, their families bones buried in their land, and much more for some sort of “promise land” that whites had waiting for
The favorite song I chose is Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, which features topics of mistakes and how we can change for the better. The song begins by telling about a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold. This shows that the lady is selfish, and her purchasing of a “stairway to heaven” means that she is also rich and greedy, because she knows “If the stores are all closed/With a word she can get what she came for” (Page 4-5). Towards the end of the song, we learn that the lady has changed her ways and has let go of her old self, which shows characterization by the songwriter. This classic rock song is accompanied by a theme of hope and being able to change. If you’re going down the wrong path and you think you’re running out of time,
I believe that as we sing a song the melody affects and connects to the spirit of mankind as it is the leading tune of a musical composition and delves deep in to the heart of a person when it is
Although artists do not create certain music to cure diseases or to make scientific or technological discoveries, music is one thing society can never live without. To both artists and their listeners, music provides an indispensible beauty that helps fulfill lives, and connect to nature. Music expresses the human condition in the purest way and affects everyone at a personal level. Plato, a well-known classical Greek philosopher once said, “If you want to measure the spiritual depth of society, make sure to mark its music.” Generally performer collaborate songs to represent the popular pop culture, and social issues, and wish for their society as well as their current era. For instance, controversial issues such as sex, violence, racism
I chose “Humble and Kind,” by Tim McGraw as my theme song. “Humble and Kind” is a very good song that has very unique lyrics. The song gives advice on how to live. There are many manners in this song that are very important. The song is a parent telling their child how they should live life. It seems that the artist wrote the song on how he wishes he would have acted when he was younger. One of the main messages of this song are that everyone has something in their lives, but you still need to be nice. Some of the lyrics on the song are about the 10 Commandments. Even though we grow up, we still need to remember our manners and how to live life. “Don’t hold a grudge or a chip and here’s why Bitterness keeps you from flying.” This is an example
Music defines our culture. As Americans, we listen to music while we drive our cars, are at work, doing housework, studying, etc. We have songs for special occasions: Christmas, Hanukah, birthdays, weddings, parties, etc. We have taken songs from the various cultures that make us diverse: Arabic, German, Mexican, Native American, etc. We have many genres: country, hip-hop, rap, pop, blues, jazz, rock, heavy metal, etc. And although we may think of music as simple and easy, looking at all this makes one realize how diverse and complex our music truly is. Two things that contribute to this diversity are theme and symbolism.
I chose the famous and well known song, “I Will Survive,” because it tells me that I will survive the 7th grade and school there after! This song was sung in 1978 by Gloria Gaynor, an African American women. This catchy song was a huge hit during the disco era and has a medium to up beat tempo. “I will survive,” best represents me because I will survive homework, sports, and school work, although at this time in life it does not feel like it! My favorite part of the song is when it says that “Oh, no, not I, I will survive,” because it shows that I will never give up and keep trying new things and that I will pull through. School is like a battlefield, having your ups and your downs. This song is also about friendship, love , broken hearts,
As I always listen to variety of music all over the world, so I have many favorite songs that always dancing in my mind. However I will include these five special, meaningful songs in my mix tape.
