The common theme of work is that if you work hard you will be either successful or happy and most of the time you success is in form of money. That's not always the case sometimes it can just be little experiences of life that makes someone feel a little more successful in the book Hidden America there was a chapter written by a journalist who went to see the conditions of the people who worked on coal mines and he loved to be down their he even went on to say “I kept going down into the coal mine. Explain that. I couldn't seem to quit.” in his chapter. The theme still stayed the same for all of the stories and chapters. If you work you will be happy or successful
In another chapter from Hidden America that takes place in a Migrant labor camp in Cherryfield, Maine someone had said ““I

If I have work the work, it's good. I keep busy I don't stop.””. This quote states what people who want to be successful and happy do they work. This shows a direct correlation between working hard and success. In my choice text and other readings the same thing can be said all the people work hard and achieve success. The author's overall purpose for writing these text is to show that you can achieve whatever you want in life by hard word In the book Scratch Beginnings Me $25, and the Search for the American Dream show the life of the main character named Adam Shepard how he started out with nothing and worked his way up. He went through many difficult task he even ended up breaking a toe. But he keep on working and by the end of the book he turned that 25 dollars around and was even aboul to buy a apartment that he spent 600 dollars a month on. another purpose is to show you that it is possible by showing examples of successful hard working people or there own success story. Their purpose, as a author contributed to the theme by supporting that hard work will benefit you in the future. The different stories each had an unique way of
-Others influence all stories so, in actuality, all stories branch from the same beginning story
As a matter of fact, nobody has a car repaired or has unique earrings made every day. Monthly bills, insurance, and gas have almost inflexible prices while “the business goes up and down” unpredictably (n.p). However, the writer believes that when working with passion and enthusiasm, technical jobs will make more money than paperwork and bring an interesting life. From my perspective, because of the loss of ability to afford for living expense, trades may face the enticement of money, alternatively, “charge more than a fair price” (n.p). Of course, money doesn’t bring happiness, but it is a requirement to reach that goal. Working with ambition to pursue goals may not bring expected results; it is necessary to prepare for that harsh
These stories relate to each other; those were some reasons why they were
The Vietnam war was an absolutely brutal time in American history. The war lasted for the majority of the 1960s and left many young men dead. The short story “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien and the film Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam give us just a glance into the war by giving using the three themes of fear, pressures, and blame/guilt to embody the concept of war and how it absolutely changes a person. War not only destroys countries, but it destroys people.
Many people in today’s society find themselves guilty of believing the common misconception that money can buy happiness. They go to school to become a doctor, lawyer, or other high paying job, with money and social status as their only incentives. Many will find that they have fallen into a trap, when they start earning their large salary, but still are not happy. While there were many messages present throughout Studs Terkels Working: a graphic adaptation, the most important reoccurring message seemed to be that having pride and dignity as well as working at a job that fulfills one’s life passion or is simply enjoyable are more important qualities than earning a large salary and having a high rank on the social ladder. The interaction of
The second way the theme connects to Our Town is noticed in the middle of the book, where George and Emily are hanging out. This shows a universal quality of human existence. One piece of evidence to support this claim can be found on pages 68-69, where it says:
This phrase is saying that with the monotony of the world, you can still have a good life, but you must work for it.
In the book Hidden America the theme is how no one ever realizes or understands how much work people put into their jobs. People do so much to make sure everyone is provided food in grocery stores and making sure the community is clean. Some people do not think about the work behind some things their parents just hand them or even what parents just go out and buy. As it says in the chapter Hecho en America “The fingerprints are one of some aspects of America life that escape everyday thought: the fact that there are people, actual people, who pick our food. ”(Laskas 50).
In the two different stories, it is easy to think about what these people had to go through. However, one of their main points
All three stories revolve around gender roles however each story shows a different

These are just a few ways the two stories are
Many people today find themselves in “dead-end” jobs, or they feel like work is purposeless and frustrating. At the same time, some people figured out that work is a blessing to them. People who suffer their lives in a slavery for many years in another country, think that work is a curse because they were ruled by people. They work because they are forced by other people. Work is a blessing for most people, but for some people work is a curse because of the lack of opportunity. Work is a blessing for those who understand it. To understand that work is a blessing was one of true understanding the purpose of life. It is important because not knowing the purpose of life brought people depressed. As Honore said “I'm retired from the Army, but
"Work" is a positive thing for many people. To some people, it may be described as a place to escape from the kids, or even a time consumption thing for a single or retired person, but most importantly it is what we do in order to provide for our families and ourselves. Work is something that we all will experience at one time or another during our lives.
"Winning is important to me, but what brings me real joy is the experience of being fully engaged in whatever I'm doing." says Phil Jackson, a former American professional basketball player. People always whine about how their first job experience was terrible and there’s only one reason which is not getting enough amount of money for their work. I think people need to think that job is not always about money as I discovered from my first job.
