The definition of a Hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Although there are many heroes in Fearless, the people that were the most heroic were Adam Brown, his wife Kelley, and Adam’s children Nathan and Savannah. According to the Author, after Adam’s death the pastor of Adam’s home church said “Adam only surrendered his life one time, and that was when he gave his life to Jesus Christ.” This statement shows a lot about his character because he was always courageous and never backed down. Being a SEAL, you have to be brave and alert at all times. Adam was truly fearless. Even when he was born they had to dislocate his shoulder and he didn’t even cry through it all. The kids were always well taken care of, Adam had everything he needed, and Kelley would drop everything and go to Adam’s location if he needed his family. She made sure that Savannah and Nathan were always well taken care of. When Adam would leave and the kids were sad, Kelley would comfort them even when she felt like breaking. That’s very hard to do, but as the mom Kelley felt like she needed to be there for them. That really showed her character as a person. Adam always had everything he needed. Nathan was born while Adam was in training. Nathan rarely got to see his dad for a while, so he was “the man of the house” when Adam was not home. Although he was young, he was brave and always helped Kelley when he got the chance. When Savannah was born, he would do all he could to help with her. Savannah is the last kid. She was around her dad a little bit, but she still had to be strong through it all. She loved Adam so much, so not seeing him often was hard on her. The night that the kids heard their mom crying and they saw the SEALs waiting by the door, they knew what had happened to Adam. Earlier that day, Nathan was having a bad feeling that whole day but instead of worrying his mother and sister, he just kept the family stable and happy for the sake of the family. Savannah handled her father’s death very well even though she was “Daddy’s Girl”. Nathan held back so many tears just to make Kelley feel better and to keep Savannah comforted. The kids went through so much trauma for a long time, but they were brave and put all their faith in God. This is one of the biggest traits of a hero because God works miracles and they let him take over the reigns of their lives. They’re very strong kids, and they’re going to carry on Adam’s
The movie basically did a metaphorical domino affect, as you see the family slowly falling down. Like I mentioned earlier when a family gains or losses a family member it is now considered a whole new group. Sadly for the Jarrett family they lost a son and were now dealing with adjustments of living, in a sense, as a new family. Calvin, the father, does a very good job staying positive but still recognizing that something horrible happened to their family and things still need to be dealt with. Beth seems to only worry about the material things as a form of a distraction. You see her focusing on setting the silver just perfectly; worrying about what clothes her husband is going to wear, and she worries more about making sure that what is happening inside the family stays between the family. Conrad is emotionally going through a lot but tries his best to keep it inside.
