Barbara made choices with her outfits each day. In the morning, she was assisted with starting her dressing, as staff would lay the clothes out or ask what outfit she wants to wear. Barbara was monitored to avoid wearing the same clothes from the previous day. At times staff would need to motivate her to finish dressing as she had stopped or was off task. She refused to attend her day program almost every day this quarter and was encouraged to change out of her pajamas. Staff encouraged her to change her clothes each day. When she wanted to go to church, Barbara was supported with choosing and wearing a nice outfit for church. M1- Discuss how policies and procedures help children, young people and their families whilst the child is being looked after.
Unit 2 P2- Describe the basis of discrimination Family Status: Family status, is when individuals in the family, are discriminated this is because they may be gay or a lesbian where they like the same gender. An example of this is Elton John and his partner adopted 2 boys. Also I feel some single parents can be discriminated against because there is either no mother or father that is on the scene and some people believe that families should be kept together as one unit where mothers and fathers should be in the family unit altogether. Parents, who tend to be from different backgrounds and race tend to be discriminated because in their religion they may have to wear a head scarf and cover up etc. Other people, seem to be discriminated because they may follow a certain religion or their skin colour may be different from others around them.
