In Sickness and in Health There is one undeniable fact of life; if you are human, you will get sick. This last week of college has been a trying time for me. After the first two weeks of college having gone with out a hitch, I should have guessed something bad was coming. I managed to get sick, in fact, I have never felt so terrible in my life. My throat was swollen, to the point I could not swallow, my stomach felt as if it were reenacting World War I, and I was over all physically drained. Yet, regardless of how poorly I felt, the world moves on. Everything from, extracurricular activities, classes, my study plan, and life in general, continues to march on in sickness and in health. Now, it is important to note the fact I rarely get sick. But, when I manage to catch the latest bug, it assaults me. This is true of last Monday. While, I spent the day feeling happy and healthy, around eight o’clock all of that changed. When I arrived at Evans Hall, for my first meeting as the Assistant Stage Manager of “The 39 Steps”, I felt ecstatic. The meeting went well, and the cast seemed very nice. However, by the end of the night I felt my throat burning. I knew I was sick. I tried to get a cough drop, but no one had one. As the meeting continued, I felt myself slowly decline. I knew I was in for a rough week. It is true, everyone has sick days, the important thing is how they are handled. As this is college, I understand the importance of attending class.. However, I am a
Compare the role of two complementary therapies with those of more orthodox treatments – M2
Patients become frustrated, irritable and angry that they are sick. A common response is,” Why me?”
But life, being what it is, will not allow you to have a sick day today, because you have an important meeting with a client, and you signed up months ago to be one of the parents for your kid’s field trip to the science museum. Your doctor has no appointments today and even if he did, you don’t have the time to wait in his office for a half hour or more to be seen.

At a client’s house I made homemade mince and potatoes, with all the peeling from the carrots and potatoes and put them into the kitchen bin them emptied the kitchen bin into the outside bin.
There are a lot of different definitions of health and ill health all of which are socially constructed; meaning that social issues usually influence a new theory or alter an old definition of health. In this section I will be analysing different definitions of health and ill health.
Health is dynamic and determined by the determinants of health that have factors that can both benefit and hinder our overall health (Liamputtong, Fanany, & Verrinder, 2012, p. 9). The primary health care (PHC) principles accessibility, inter-sectorial collaboration, appropriate technology, emphasis on health promotion and public participation helps all individuals at different social standings based on income levels and geographical location determined by the social determinants of health to access PHC and make an equitable health care system (McMurray & Clendon, 2011, pp. 36-44; Liamputtong, Fanany, & Verrinder, 2012, pp. 13-14).
Mortality rates: In gender men generally die earlier than women because of many aspects of their life, for instance in general women tend to take care of them self more physically. A lot of women go on diets and a lot of exercise DVDs and detunes are mainly aimed at women. Women in general do try to eat healthy and go on diets whereas men usually aren't very aware of their diet and don’t have much intention on improving it. Women also tend to go to the doctors and seek medical advice more often and have their illnesses diagnosed and treated more often than men. Because women' generally take more care of themselves and do more to keep themselves healthy.
Your GP can assess whether you have incontinence, decide which type of incontinence you have, give general advice on controlling symptoms of incontinence, provide information on pelvic floor exercises and bladder retraining, and give treatment for incontinence with prescribed medicines. If lifestyle changes and treatments don't solve the problem, your GP can refer you to a continence adviser or specialist.
What makes a healthy person? Surely it is more than just exercising and eating right. When we say healthy aren't we referring to more than just being physically fit and not having any diseases or ailments. But what else is there that makes a person truly healthy? I think that while this physical description of healthy is a good start, there is far more to the story than this. For one to be considered truly healthy I believe that every aspect of their life must be looked at and addressed with the intention of making that person the best person that they can be.
According to the NILC (National Immigration Law Center), In America “Uninsured adults are more than 25 percent more likely to die prematurely than adults with health insurance.” (“The Consequences of Being Uninsured” 2). As a result of these adults not have access to health insurance, they also didn’t have access to good quality health services or any health services at all. Health services that are both good quality and accessible is very important to people’s health. Unfortunately in America this kind of service is hard to obtain. A lack of access to good quality health services can ruin the health condition of everybody, but spreading awareness of the effects of lack of good quality health services, and support from organizations can help bring accessible good quality health services to America.

Compassion, or caring can be viewed as “nursing’s most precious asset” (Schantz, 2007), a fundamental element of nursing care (Dietze and Orb, 2000), and as one of the strengths of the profession. According to Torjuul et al (2007), it involves being close to patients and seeing their situation as more than a medical scenario and routine procedures. Compassion is to feel passion with someone, to enter sympathetically into their sorrow, suffering, pain or situation and desire and attempt to alleviate the sorrow, suffering, pain or need. Compassion knows when to be the shoulder to cry on and when to be the motivator for life changing health habits. Compassion is; treating not only the diagnosis but the person, the person with feelings, the person who is going to cry sometimes.
One day of absence can affect you and your grade if something was missed. In the entire semester I was unable to attend two sessions due to sickness, but I knew what had to be done and due the next class which is what is important. I was also try a hand full of times but never to the point where I missed something important being said or assignments being given. I hate not knowing what has to be done or how to do an assignment which is why I try my hardest to always attend every class. Up to this point attendance has not affected my education and its something I will continue doing.
