I never had a desire to have a car since I always had friends who were able to pick me up. I also had my mother who loved me and would take me to the movies, mall, and restaurants so I could hang out with my friends. As I got older, I started to notice that I was in need of a car; I didn’t want to ask for rides anymore or ask my mom too take me to places. Little by little the access of me having friends to take me places was diminishing, and my mom was coming home from work extremely tired. It was time for me to step up and have more responsibilities and stop depending on others. At last, my time came to get my first ever car.
Ever since I turned 16 years old I had an urge to have my own car. Sadly at the moment my mother wasn’t financially

On our way to the dealer I started to ask God to let this be the car please. A few minutes later we get there and the first thing I see is a red Hyundai Genesis Coupe. We go inside and ask how many miles, rebuilt, and what is the price they are selling it for. It was a clean title, with 24,631 miles on it, and asking price was $18,600. I looked at my mom with a desperate face and she looked at me with a smile on her face , she told the guy ok , and asked if I could drive it and they let me. When I come back from driving my dream car, I see my mom with a very serious face, i’m like in my head “Uh Oh! This can not be good.”. I ask her what’s wrong, she says that the price is way too much for her, that she is trying to reduce the price but they don't want to. In that event I try to convince my mother that it’s a good price in other places they are asking for more than $20,000, but she wouldn’t budge. After the fail of convincing my mom, I’m there talking to the salesmen and trying to find out what good deal they could help me out with. To hook me up in a view of it’s my first car. The salesmen
The day my parents drove into the driveway with a Jeep was one of the most exciting days in my life. Although it would be six long months before I actually had a driver's license, the Jeep represented freedom. Still to this day, I am grateful for the privilege to roll down the top and blast my music. But, I’m still a kid with a desire to one day go from zero to sixty in less than three seconds. The Jeep is enjoyable but I hope one day earn enough money to buy a Dodge Hellcat for many reasons.
Also, I would make my mom understand that me knowing how to cook, clean, and babysit is something good, and if I could cook like her then I would be able to handle having my own car, although having your own car may be a lot of responsibility I think I can handle all the duties, and I would do just fine. Another good reason why I think I should have a car is because, it wouldn’t be safe to walk to school or walk out anywhere else alone, and they wouldn't want my life to be at
After I got my permits my mom and dad started to let me drive the car more and take them places when they aren’t feeling like driving. When I got my license they began to send me to places alone to go get stuff for them that they needed. The first place they sent me was to Bogalusa to go meet up with my sister at her job at citi trends. I knew where and how to get to Bogalusa because I been there so many times, but the only thing I couldn’t remember sometimes is where my sister job was at. So every time I was to make it to Bogalusa I would call my mom or my sister to give me directions. The next day the whole family wanted to go out to eat somewhere at a restaurants to celebrate me for passing my driver’s license test, but the only thing about was that I had to drive the whole time and it was supposed to be a surprised for me. I had to drive all the way to Hattiesburg to some restaurant I never been to before. The food there was good and I had really enjoyed myself. That was one of the best things to happen to me in my life. All I got to say about driving is that it was the best of the best thing to ever happen to
I sat there nervous , thinking this is it I have to do this ,It's now or never . I can feel the sweat coming down my forehead ,my hands also sweaty as I gripped the steering wheel. My shot at getting my drivers license was finally here . I can feel the driving instructor watch my every move . But let's go back a couple of weeks to the one day I decided I was ready to get behind the wheel . My 15th birthday , in my culture when a girl turns 15 they are coming into adult hood and there is a big celebration called Quinceañera. I was not to happy with the celebration all I really wished for was to have my own car . My parents on the other and it being tradition they didn't really ask for my opinion . After all what teenage girl didn't want to have
For a while I always had my parents or friends give me rides to places. But after I turned 15 I started to think and I decided that I wanted to get my permit. The first try I didn’t get it. At that time it made me not want to get my permit because I didn’t want to fail over and over again and again.
I wanted a car so I wouldn’t have to rely on my dad for taking me to work, school, and other places. I had money saved up from previous summers, but it wasn’t enough to buy a car. I worked at Safeway during this time as a courtesy clerk. I hated this job because I would have to go outside and push carts during the hot summer and rainy days. I dreaded going to work when I saw how hot it was going to be, but I stuck with it. After some very long months at a job I didn’t like, I had saved up enough money to buy my own car. I was very proud of myself that day.
Mom or Dad are constantly to-and-fro places such as driving to their son’s soccer game and getting groceries, but with the advantage of another driver in the home, they don’t have to work as hard. Teens can get where they need to go without being bothersome and just an overall convenience. In addition, they can create new opportunities and improve their social life. The biggest plus for students when owning a car is “They can go hang out with friends and meet new ones which will help their socials skills which are needed…” (www.teenink.com). This gives not only the parents’ relaxation, but also the students’ freedom and
The Beginning - When I was sixteen years I did not expect a car from my parents. Both my parents never got a car from their parents. I expected to have me drive the minivan until Mom didn’t want it anymore and it’d become mine. And it was mine, for a while. I hated every minute of it. I worked two jobs during that year of high school to get my own car; one as a lifeguard and the other with a landscaping company. I saved my money until had a couple thousand dollars in my bank account. I started looking online for a set of wheels that didn’t have giant sliding doors on the side.
I bought my first car when I was 17 years old. The first thing I remember was taking it to my uncle who was an Auto Mechanic to get his opinion. His words were “ son, you just bought yourself a lemon”. Later that day I learned what he meant by a “lemon”. I was on the freeway driving and as I looked into my rear view mirror there was a trail on white smoke coming from the tale pipe. The car I had just bought had a bad engine and needed to be replaced.
At the age of 17 all I could think about was having a car. However, I understood that owning a car, I would be required to have a job. This would allow me to pay for insurance, gas and maintenance issues. I also understood buying a car required me to have a driver license. After taking all the necessary steps to purchase my first car. The very first car I bought was a “lemon”.
For my first reason that you should let me get a car is because I help out around the house all the time. Everyday I clean at the house for at least an hour and take care of the dog. I think that I am plenty responsible to have a car because of me doing things around the house.
I remember getting my first Vehicle like it was yesterday. I remember as soon as I turned six-teen wanting to go get my permit so I could drive. Every teenagers goal is to get there license and be able to drive them selfs around at least that was mine. I remember when I went and looked at trucks with my dad and it seemed like nothing was good enough for my dad ,months went by and still had no Vehicle. I remember driving down 144 in Mooresville and seeing a small car lot on the side of the road. When we stopped at the small car I seen a truck I fell in love with it as soon as I seen it my dad looked at the truck and acted like he wasn't going to get it. A few days later my dad came home and we talked about the truck at
The first time I drove a true car was two years ago. I begged my friend so many time to teach me how to drive. Fortunately, my roommate his left his car to me when I came to ASU. Every day when I got out of class, I would drive the car around Tempe. But every thing got change after that Friday. It became a nightmare for me.
My journey began on a spring day, when my boyfriend at that time-now my husband said that is the right time to buy a car. Even though I was 23 at that moment, I had a feeling like I will be so independent despite the fact that from the age of 18 years old I didn’t live with my parents ,I traveled in Europe by myself and I was already an independent person. In contrast with the US, in Russia,my homeland country, the minimum age to drive a car is 18 years old, but there is no much need in a car because the public transportation is cheaper and more convenient, the bus stations are close to every location that you may need as well as if you drive a personal vehicle there is always an issue with the lack of parking spots that make parking seem endless. On the top of disadvantages, is the stereotype that the worst drivers in Russia are females. These were my reasons why I started to drive only at 23, a perfect age, when I just moved to US. The thought that I will have a car, my own car, made me feel very confident in myself. Thinking about my future first car made me so happy like I was a child expecting for Christmas gifts, unwrapping the presents without any idea about what is inside of the box.
My 2005 gray Chevy Malibu didn't have insurance on it yet, therefore I shouldn't have been driving, but I had been aching to drive it since my 16th Birthday in mid September. I begged to my mom and dad if I could just this once drive it and they agreed, but said I have to be extra careful since I would be driving without insurance, and I assured them I would be. Little did we know what would soon happen.
