As medical assistance, it is our responsible to re-check all the work to make sure we have all correct information before we give out to our patient. To make a clear writing communication, it will be a lot helpful to re-check spelling error, message should be clear and to the point and negative tone should be avoided.
Written communication is said to be the same as oral but it is written down on paper instead of words being spoken out loud, which then changes it from a ‘verbal’ to ‘non-verbal’ type of communication. Written communication is seen as more reliable than spoken communication, as information can be missed out and more added in. this can cause service users and care workers to receive wrong information, therefore potentially proving the wrong type of care needed which can cause conflict and possible danger for the service user.
The main claim to this paper, is to prove, to have effective communication with patients and their
The main purpose in the correct use of grammar, punctuation and spelling is ensuring the receiver of the information reads it accurately. Addition to this when given a task to do, your employer expects you to do it perfectly. When a document has inaccuracies, readers tend to distrust everything, including the statistics, opinions, and facts. This would be relayed back to my employer who would themselves lose confidence in our ability. For progression in my company I need to ensure I carry out all tasks to a certain standard.
Communication in the healthcare field may be a little different for some people. Healthcare requires the communication to have a purpose, and that purpose is revolved around a person’s needs. A patient with good staff communication during
In this assignment, I am going to review four cases, which will require a number of different communication skills focusing primarily on; developing a therapeutic relationship, communicating assertively, communicating effectively with an individual with a disability/impairment and communicating with individuals from another culture. I will discuss building a therapeutic relationship and effective communication with each patient.
If formal communication is not used in the correct environment, misunderstanding may occur, causing danger to somebody’s health. Appropriate language must also be used; Professional references, proper English without slang and clear consistent wording.
Reducing the incidence of medical error by improving the accuracy and clarity of medical records.
During my placement, I also developed good communication skills. I learned how to communicate effectively with clients to enable the provision of health care. When addressing clients, I avoided the use of difficult medical terms and opted for simpler words that were easily understood by all. I also used a variety of efficient communication methods such as allowing clients to express themselves, providing sufficient time for discussion and maintaining eye contact with clients. And to those clients that did not understand English, I sought the assistance of a trusted
It is said that great minds think alike, but history has proven time and time again the flaw in that statement. Two men, John Locke and Thomas Hobbes, both had arguably great minds yet their opinions were vastly different in certain areas, perhaps most obviously in the political realm. Both John Locke and Thomas Hobbes advocated different beliefs on government and politics during the seventeenth century. Thomas Hobbes saw the human soul as inherently evil, and believed that an absolute government was the only way to contain and suppress its darkness, while John Locke held a positive and optimistic of the human soul, and believed in a governmental system that benefited and protected those living underneath it; these two men, although they held different ideals, were both very influential to the world in which we exist today.
Nancy Spector, whom holds a PhD, RN titles from the University of Wisconsin, distinguishes that most patient privacy violations are due to nurses not taking the time to think before posting and inadvertently putting the patient’s info out for persons not admitted to see it. Spector states “The quick and efficient technology enabling use of social media reduces not only the time it takes to post, but also the time to consider whether the post is appropriate and what ramifications may come from posting inappropriate content.” Nurses should be able to use social media to help further their relationships with patients and co-workers, with the healthy understanding of how to do so wisely.
Racial and Social equality is when people of all races are given an equal opportunity, however in The Book “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, we don't see that Racial Equality, but we do see the Injustice and racial problems people had back in the 1930’s. The author shows us and helps us learn about these problems by using different characters that had a different effect on the story. This story is told by a little girl named Scout Finch whose father is a Lawyer who represents Tom Robinson who is accused of Raping and Beating Mayella Ewell, Atticus Finch knowing that he is going to lose the Court Case still tries and doesn't give up because he is trying to change the way people think about Skin Colored People. And he teaches this to his Children who still don't understand what is happening. “Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win”.
Disclosing medical errors is considered necessary by patients and practitioners. They are advised to disclose in the form of an apology when necessary and appropriate. When a medical error causes damage to the patient, it seen as not acceptable because a patient goes for treatment in order to get better not to get worse therefore it calls for the situation to be addressed. When a medical error is not disclosed, the fellow peers who have witnessed the error must decide whether they should remain silent and keep the error to themselves or reveal the error to the higher up, although it would be in good faith to report the medical error to a higher up, unless it has caused harm or long-term damage to the patient. (Youngson. p. 69) There are many hospitals that the practitioners keep the errors made to themselves and do not disclose the medical errors to the families of patients or the patients themselves. Medical errors become a topic of conversation if the family of a patient or the patient themselves become aware about the error. Medical errors are something that should be disclosed in a good faith manner
Computers have evolved at an extremely fast pace in the past few years. We would be at an extreme disadvantage if we did not take the opportunity to use this to our benefit. With the common place of wireless networks and mobile platforms, such as the IPAD, doctors could carry out such changes fairly readily and efficiently. This would allow for the text to be easily read, and give the doctors one more tool for correcting spelling errors as well. It has already been proven that computers can greatly reduce the errors made as evidenced by an excerpt of one article "... during the study, the non-missed-dose medication error rate fell 81 percent, from 142 per 1,000
Written communication in healthcare system comprises of care plans, daily reports, handover sheets ,medication sheets in general ,(record keeping). These clinical records are essential skills of communication that a nurse should be able to write as well as extracting vital information from which to provide relevant and precise care. This makes continuity of necessary care possible and fulfils one of NMC’s (2008) core principles of the code of working with others to protect and promote the health and wellbeing of those in nurse’s care and obligation to ensure total and effective information is communicated to your colleagues concerning people in your care (NMC 2010). These records help to increase answerability to the part of the nurse if the nurse is aware of this will be more considerate knowing that any mistake will come around. In addition these records help as the basis for decision –making for nurses and multi-disciplinary team of which the nurse
or son might be doing it because they want the parents attention or has a problem at school that they don't know what to do. Because in the novel It was said in the story “He’s going to tell they’re unwinding me and then break down in tears, going on and on about how sorry sorry sorry he is about it all”. This shows they never sat down and talked about why he getting unwinding or used any communication.
