The Opioid epidemic is not new, but one thing is different now, and that is how the mainstream media is calling the large drug company’s out on how they have knowingly created this epidemic. These big drug companies with the help of the FDA, have created pill mills that could distribute over 9 million OxyContin pills in a 6-month period. And did so while it, and the FDA, knew it was causing people to become addicted to these drugs.
In April of 2009, Halo 3 players finally achieved the staggering milestone of 10 billion kills that had taken them over 565 days to accomplish. Halo is one of the first virtual games that was massively multiplayer; which, helped it foster an online community greater than any game before it. Jane McGonigal uses the game as a case study in her book Reality is Broken: Why Games Makes Us Better and How They Can Change the World. McGonigal’s Halo study is but one of the many tools that help her identify the communal capabilities of virtual gaming, as well as the many other ways gaming can improve the interaction between humans and reality. Another tool that McGonigal implements is the digital image on the front cover of her book.

Portal 2 Dylan Long and Hayley Gabbard Portal is a mind bending game of puzzles that perplexes some of the smartest people. That is why I (Hayley) like this game so much. Portal 2 is an open world puzzle game where you are a test subject with a Portal Ray Gun. You are once again in the same testing facility and you must escape. GLaDOS (Genetic Life and Disk Operating System)was defeated in Portal 1 as of saying that she is shut down so it’s a little safer.
As an avid video game enthusiast it is always fascinating to witness the gaming world evolve as modern technology seems to continually outpace expectations of what can be reproduced in a virtual medium. Gone are the days when a fraction of the entertainment world included lazily playing pong or pac-man on a cumbersome arcade console. Today, with the technological boom, the video game industry has evolved to include a plethora of gaming genres, bent on maximizing entertainment and profit. However, despite such exponential growth, this particular form of entertainment has remained in the shadow of traditional forms of amusement, such as television broadcasting or the movie industry. Yet, with the release of the game Call of Duty: Modern
Throughout the decades, the gaming community evolved as technology progressed and was able to create new technology. Due to the advancement of the gaming community, it allowed video games to grow and become advance. Even though some of the advancement may include better source engines, better coding but that doesn't mean a good or an outstanding game will be produced. Recently a new product has been introduced to PC and the new gen console, a video game called Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege by Ubisoft. But this game is a unique, promoting to give a real world and realistic point of view of a counter terrorism unit; but in the outcome of the game it was able to separate itself from the other FPS (Firs Person Shooting) game, it was able to

This action packed game has not been for sale for very long but has already made a big name for it-self. It broke several world records, such as most money made from pre-orders, most copies sold in the first week and most money earned on the first day. This groundbreaking game has unfortunately had a few problems since its release date but it has pulled through and is ready to take the world by storm. This phenomenal game will be the topic of conversation for all gamers across the world for a very long time. This sensational game was feared by many parents as they presumed it would make their children corrupt.
As a child, I grew up playing video games. In 2005 I received a Playstation 2 for Christmas, but it wasn’t the first time I played a video game.Though, that same Christmas was when my cousins received their Christmas presents, an Original Xbox, which introduced my childhood favorite series, Halo. Ever since then, when I would go to their house that was what we would play, Halo, whether it was split-screen multiplayer or split-screen co-op. That was the beginning of my love for video games, and would soon be evolved come 2007.
Sometimes it seems like the computer game industry is dying, crushed to death by its own bulk. Every year more and more gaming companies get gobbled up into huge conglomerates like Electronic Arts, companies that mostly put out trash that is technically and visually impressive, but devoid of concept and content. However, there are some small gaming companies that buck the trend. While mostly just small groups of programmers and artists, some are huge unions of fans who, irritated with the dropping quality of computer games, have decided to use the power of the internet to get together and to produce games tailor-made to their personal preferences.
This book changed me in a major way that I would have never even imagined. Yes the book was small but it carried so much meaning. This changed my perspective on all that I do in my daily life. It has made me more grateful for everything around me good and bad. I have learned that everyday counts.
Video games are an ever-growing franchise that is constantly undergoing change. Ever since the dawn of video games, new consoles, games, developers, and teams have come together, fallen apart, triumphed, and failed. What is it that has allowed some to thrive where others failed? Several different factors have changed and influenced the world of gaming, including the history that is continuously being written, the people who have built the games behind the scenes, and, of course, the actual video games themselves. Numerous video games have been more successful than others, but identifying what components set the successful apart from the unsuccessful is something definitely worth observing.
