Households with children and guns can be an extremely dangerous situation. If the child is told simply to not touch the gun then his/her first reaction will be curiosity about it. Teach children about firearms and always practice gun safety rules. The National Rifle Association gives tips on proper safe gun handling, "always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction, always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot, and always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use" (Connors 1). In today’s society, there is plenty to talk about. Whether it be about the President, the weather change, there is always something to talk about. One of the major issues that has been talked about for an extended period of time is gun control and the issues that follow it. In 2015, 13,367 people lost their lives due to gun violence according to Gun Violence Archive. The Archive also states that out of that number, 693 were children from ages 0-11. We can all agree that there is indeed a problem that we have to address. The solution to that problem, however, has been debated by many. I believe the solution to this problem exists in three parts: Mandatory training and licensing along with more heavily secure gun storage, stricter regulations on the purchasing of a firearm—disabilities and criminal records should be more deeply looked into before transaction—and finally, equipping teachers at highs schools with the right kind of weaponry to prevent mass shootings.

In the article “Guns and the Role of Protective Parenting”, Chris Sacco explains that there should be more safety laws employed to keep children, and everyone else safe. There are many cases where parents and children are injured and in some cases killed. In the article, Sacco provides solutions as a way to help protect families. Sacco supports that guns are not the problem, but adults can decrease the number of accidents that happen just by being educated and taking precautions.

Since I was a little girl, I remember hunting season; Dad and Katlyn, my sister, would come home to say they killed a deer. Even though I did not enjoy hunting, I still see how much they love to go; hunting great bonding time for them. My dad taught my sister and me how important gun safety is. In every year that passes away at least 100,000 people are shot each year in the U.S and 72% shows that the deaths were caused by the use of guns. Many people die from starvation, or for other natural causes but a life shouldn't be taken by a gun or a bullet. There shouldn't be no use of guns in any place, no where in the world not even at war. Everyone deserves to live happily in a place of just peace, love and respect. In other countries kids brothers and sister take care of themselves because their parents can be at work or because they don't have parents, but still a parent always leaves with the fear of coming back and finding out that there was a war or a shooting and their son had died in it. In 2015 alone, there have been an overwhelming 10,409 deaths due to gun violence ("Gun Violence Archive 2015 Toll of Gun Violence"). Every year thousands of people are killed due to people misusing guns, but there are no laws that prevent children and young teenagers from getting a hold of guns themselves. However, the government has banned other items to protect the children of America including items like Kinder chocolate eggs and “Little Red Riding Hood.”

Nothing is more terrifying to most parents than the idea of their child being harmed. In August of 2007 a black based radio station named Choice FM in the UK plays on this fear with the use of a television ad focusing on public interest calling for gun control with the slogan “Stop the bullets. Kill the gun”.
