The class was presented with the problem that a grandfather clock’s pendulum was not keeping time, and divided into three groups in an attempt to solve the issue. Each group was to test one independent variable that would most affect the swing of the pendulum, and was comprised of three smaller teams of two people. The three groups would change the mass of the bob, the length of the rod (string), and the angle from which the bob was released. It was hypothesized that if the mass of the bob were increased, then the pendulum would keep time differently because of air resistance. This was concluded because adding weights to the bob would increase the surface area and therefore cause a variation in the pendulum’s swing. The dependent variable
Education theory can either be descriptive like the sciences or normative like in philosophy. Education theory postulates what education processes are supposed to consist of; it sets the standards, norms, and goals in carrying out an education process. The scientific education theory gives a set of hypotheses, which have to be experimented and verified. The two approaches have produced two broad categories of education theories, which are the functionalist’s theory of education
After observing the achievement wall that Mrs. Rodgers had, I also noticed that part of her Behavior Management Plan consisted of not being afraid to give honor where honor was due, or not being stingy with her praise for Excellency. Instead of tearing down a student that is misbehaving in front of the whole class, she simply praises those doing well. This concept brings confidence to those doing well, but also causes those not doing well to strive for better behavior, so they can be praise next
This Ethnographic study will focus on what people do and the environment of McConn through out the week. Each time I went it was a different time of day and a different day of the week so that I was able to see different sides of McConn. I did one or two interviews per observation time. I went Saturday the 29th at 7:50-8:20pm, Monday the 31st at 3:30-4pm, Wednesday the 2nd 4:30-5pm, Wednesday the 6th 8-11pm, and. I also tried to move where I sat around so i could get all the different feelings of each space. I included the orange room and the commons along with the main McConn area in my Ethnography because I feel that even though they are different rooms, they are very similar and often when it is said “meet me at McConn” these other rooms are included.
Naturalistic observation involves recording subjects' naturally occurring behavior while they are in their natural environment. This experiment revolves around this type of observation. Specifically, it involves the observation of the various human dyads (male-female, male-male, female-female,) social interaction, within in a public environment. Focal points of observation included conversation space (distance between individuals heads,), and body language.
In order to study human development and perform naturalistic observation I went to the mall. I selected a 9-year-old white girl as the subject for my observation. I observed the subject for 30 minutes. During my observation the subject was not interrupted and was not aware of my study.
The purpose of this observation assignment was to investigate and interpret the different types of interactions between the individuals and groups present, as well as the environment in which these interactions take place. The various power relationships and sense of hierarchy in addition to the status and authority among the different individuals are also extremely pertinent to this assignment, as the dissection of such interactions and relationships may implicate certain socially constructed gender roles placed on these individuals and society as a whole. The field observation was conducted at the restaurant Pancakes on the Rocks in Sydney. The role adopted, was that of observer as participant. Group structures and
A pendulum is a bob suspended by a string from a fixed point and behaves in an oscillating manner. When released from an angle away from its equilibrium, it swings side-to-side in a periodic motion. The time it takes to complete one full swing is considered the period and the purpose of this investigation is to discover the effect of the string length on the period of the pendulum. This will be accomplished by recording and analyzing data with the use of data tables and graphs.
This paper is going to describe the behavioral and cognitive traits that can be inferred from that behavior of a two year old child that I observed in the park as she was playing with her mother. The child that I observed is a girl, has blonde hair and is physically well-developed for her age. She is around two, weighs approximately twenty (20) pounds and is about two (2) feet tall.
At station 4 participants PMm length will be measured with a Venier calliper. Participants are required to be without their shirts. The method for measuring PMm length with a Venier calliper is as follows: the participants will lie in supine with their arms stretched out at their sides, palmer surface of the hand facing downwards. The inferio-medial aspect of the coracoid process and the caudal edge of the fourth rib at the sternum will be palpated as reference points (Struyf, et al 2014:295). The length of PMm will then be measured between these reference points. Measurement will be done by one researcher; documentation of the measurements will be done by another researcher to promote the validity of these measurements. The measurements will
Observational research is type of correlational (i.e., nonexperimental) research in which a researcher observes ongoing behavior. There are a variety of types of observational research, each of which has both strengths and weaknesses. These types are organized below by the extent to which an experimenter intrudes upon or controls the environment.
At nine A.M. began my visit of Mission Dolores, I arrived to the Basilica, a light beige-peach color, looked similar to the Gothic style due to its outside ornamentation of little angel heads and repetitive floral adornment. I walked a bit further to the Mission, where I examined the simple outside exterior of white colored adobe walls and its brown simple roof, made from redwood logs. I thought both the Mission and Basilica appeared out of place beside one another. My thoughts further lingered on how the Mission appeared to have been left behind by the current times. It was located in an urban environment of cars, paved streets, apartments, a school, and shops. Entering into the Mission was a gift shop with an energetic, friendly staff member
The first educator that I observed was Mrs. Crystal Sullivan at Fox Meadow Elementary on September 14, 2017. Mrs. Sullivan is a music teacher at this school and on this particular day, Mrs. Sullivan had special needs students in her classroom in the early morning. I chose to observe Mrs. Sullivan while teaching special needs because I had a great interest in special needs students. The students came into the classroom and first went to sit on the risers in the back of the room. Accompanying them were 4 other adults who assisted the special education teacher. Mrs. Sullivan began her class with the “Hello” song which the students were receptive to. She played a small guitar while singing the song and they also began to pat the beat on their legs. The disabilities of the students ranged from severe to non-severe. There was one student who did not seem to enjoy the music because he continued to cover his ears. The teachers accommodated him by encouraging him to listen and participate. Mrs. Sullivan used many engaging techniques such as physical activity while teaching her music class with the special needs students. For example, Mrs. Sullivan played the “All Fall Down” song on the smart board and each student performed a move at various times in the song. The students would either act like they were cranking up or they would crank down and fall to the carpet. She also utilized the parachute which students held and walked around as music played. Mrs. Sullivan also used dynamics
My practicum took place on September 7,2016 from nine thirty to ten thirty. The practicum took place at Impact Early College High School in Baytown. The class I observed was Ms. Nguyen’s class of juniors and seniors that contained twenty students, seven boys and thirteen girls. The class appeared to be alert and ready to learn. Since this was their second period class they already had enough time to shake off their fatigue. The subject was Pre-Calculous and the topic was operations of functions. Students entered the classroom in a calm manner and socialized until it was time to start class. The teacher instructed the students to take their seats and take five minutes to write their assignments into their academic calendar. The teacher went
April 10, 2013 I seated myself in a booth with my back faced to the wall. It was here that I had an ominous view of the Galleria food court. With pencil in hand, and notebook ready, I began taking notes on the many observations I noticed in the three hour window that I sat and “people watched”.
A simple pendulum consists of a mass that is attached to a string of length ‘L’ that is fixed to a point, in this case, a cork suspended by a clamp stand. This allows the mass to be suspended vertically downwards and allows it to be displayed at an angle that it swings. A period ‘T’ of oscillation is the time required for one complete swing. For this to happen ideally its mass must swing from an angle that is
