First grade, after a long day of school and learning what the deal was with shapes, I come home and get to watch TV, no homework or worries (first graders with homework? Yeah right) then I eat dinner, and get ready for bed. My parents tuck me in and begin to read me a story from my favorite author at the time. Dr. Seuss. The rhyming and the pictures and the one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish. How does he come up with this stuff? Pure genius. Even after my parents turn off my room light, I sneak some light from my game boy and read more because I just can’t wait for the next night to read again. Growing up you could not find a bigger bookworm then myself. I read small books to big books, books on the study of animals, plants, or just plain old novels. I have always had a passion for learning new things from educational books or just reading a new exciting story in every novel I picked up. I have a multitude of fond memories of books I read and lessons I learned, but one instance I consider more impactful than the others. This moment came when my 6th grade English teacher helped me write my own book.
I probably read more books in a week than people I talked to in those 5 years.
When I was in second grade everyone in my class was taught how to read and write in cursive. It was a new experience, we had all just mastered writing in print and then this was thrown upon us.
