“Well, this is not good.” Syd was blunt, head turning as he noticed more Grimm approaching the scene. The two beowolves that he had injured earlier struggled to get back up on their feet, but their anger was apparent. Just staring at them brought a sense of urgency to the second year, a gut feeling that he should slink back into the darkness—away from threatening eyes and sharp fangs. “Messy situation.” He stepped back, readying his shield. His eyes followed theirs. Why did he even attend Beacon Academy again? “Sometimes this place can just be downright cruel.” He reminded himself, recalling the strife of his very first year at the academy. Syd noticed a beowolf that inched closer towards him. Looks like it was ready for its meal. The first strike caught Syd off-guard. The beast intended a quick finish, though, the claw was barely deflected with his shield. “Close one.” He wiped blood from his cheek. A minor scratch. Syd was just glad the beast hadn’t been seconds faster. …show more content…
It was another attempt at his head, but this time he knew what was coming. The claw was a heck of a shot. Unfortunately for it, the Enochi was created to survive attacks far stronger than a beowolf could deal. The Grimm’s attack connected to the shield, producing an audible clang. “Try…something…else…you…” Syd took giant steps forward with each breath—gaining momentum for his counterattack. On the fifth word, he swung the Enochi to the side: “FOOL!” His swing caught the beowolf off-balance. Syd brought the shield back in front of him once again. He lurched, hiding behind the shield as he knees bent. This time he dashed towards the monster, covering the distance set between them. Colliding into the beowolf with his shield, Syd let out a mix of a laugh and a roar. The second year had a spry smile on his face, pace
Right away he starts to swing at me before I get a chance to so I start dodging his punches but then he throws a real swing at me right to the ribs that’s when I got mad he’s still swinging got me again in the ribs but the other side side at this point
This shows that Beowulf is brave enough to go and save his people from being attacked again by the dragon. Beowulf’s change throughout the epic story is one that’s very important to finishing the story. An editor writes “He risks his life for a group of relative strangers, demonstrating a generous bravery” (Joyce). Beowulf not only does it for the glory, but to also save his people or strangers from being killed by the dragon terrorizing them. Beowulf’s attitude between the beginning and the end of the story is very similar but the minor things can make a big difference.
Beowulf’s triumphs are short lived due to another attack on Herot. This time, Grendel’s mother comes to the great mead hall to avenge her son. The battle between Grendel’s mother and Beowulf differs greatly from the previous battle with the beast’s son. After another attack, Beowulf now must seek out his new enemy, and fight her on her own turf. As it stood, the scores were even between the monsters and the Danes, but Beowulf now looked for victory over the monsters, not revenge. Beowulf also had to regain his reputation. He had just won a trophy, when the bigger, badder bully came up to him and took it straight from his grasp. Now Beowulf traveled to the burning lake, which proved a test of its own. He then swam to the bottom of the lake where the monster resided. All of this just to get to the monster shows that this brave hero would do anything to set the scores right for his people and for the glory that came with it.
During this time Beowulf is old of age and does not possess the same strength he did in his younger days. Beowulf knows he could not face the dragon like his last to opponents with his bare hands because of the hot poison the dragon will breathe. He chooses to go into battle with a sword and shield. Beowulf goes into this fight knowing that it would be his last so he will fight until he dies. Beowulf has matured into a man fighting for glory for his people not fame as in his younger days.
Prideful steps came to a halt as soon as Beowulf stopped and slowly turned to face us, a crowd of young warriors willing to give our all to fight alongside such a hero. I could feel my heart quench as he told his story, of his brothers and father, of his glory and fame, and watched in awe with every movement he made. Alas, Beowulf made his final boast and ended with what only the best heroes could, “If the dragon in this tower dares to face me!” he screamed. We cheered and felt our adrenaline go up as we became more prepared for the battle just around the corner, our swords in hand, shields already up; however, nothing could have prepared us for what lie ahead.
We-neg slaps him. Sen-head staggers, motions to wave his hand. An outraged, wizard slaps him again. He becomes breathless.
This particular gang and the members in it protect each other like family. That being said, one of the female gang members had spent two days looking for the two teenagers. She ended up finding them in the City for Palm Springs in a vacant lot. Upon her arrival she took out a firearm and fired multiple rounds at the two teenagers. One of the boys was hit in the shoulder while the other was struck in the throat.
This wasn’t what I wanted but I had to be brave, I had to protect my clan. Asger gave me a hopeful look and hit my shoulder with power as I ran past, nodding and sending me forward. I put on a brave face and bared my teeth and then bit down on my shield- sword raised up and swinging around my head wildly. I roared as I came within a famne of the first row of our enemies.
Throughout the entire passage of Beowulf there has been an overarching theme of Beowulf’s fate of life which in this passage is shown through the strong imagery of gain and loss and with the diction of sadness.
Here he has an internal battle of what might happen to him in the future as well. Then there is the final battle. This is where Beowulf and the dragon fight. Beowulf’s now significantly older now than he was in the previous two battles. He is also physically weaker now too, along with his declining

Paragraph 1: Anne is a character that demonstrates loyalty, this is also a trait Beowolf shows very clearly. Anne’s past as an orphan has meant that very few people wanted her. She finally finds a friend, Dianna that won’t leave her or make fun of her. Anne quickly becomes loyal and they quickly become the best of friends with Anne making sure that no one makes fun or hurts Dianna. Beowolf is a person who is very loyal. He treats his team of warriors like family as each risk their lives to protect so many others. He is also loyal to his people by going out to defeat Grendel so they wont die if Grendel decided to attack and eat them.
My first reaction was to fight, and I sprinted, pain forgotten, over to the creature, my hands already in fists, a fierce look on my pale face.
Last of all, Beowulf is not scared when his weapons break or they do not work on the monster. “The shining blade/ refused to bite. It spared her and failed/ the man in his need”(1523-1525). Even though the blade failed him he instanly throws it away continues to fight. Beowulf continuing to fight is showing that he has the courage not to give up.
Soon coming from behind the trees and foliage was a large black werewolf-like creature with outer bone white spikes, armor, and mask adorned with blood red designs and eyes. It was a Beowolf, one of the many variations of the “Creatures of Grimm”. The Beowolf held its head high followed by a load roar and charged him on all fours.
