Greek Mythology
Odysseus, in Greek legend, a Greek hero, ruler of the island of Ithaca and one of the leaders of the Greek army during the Trojan War. Homer's Odyssey recounts Odysseus's adventures and ultimate return home ten years after the fall of Troy. Initially, Odysseus was mentioned as the son of Laertes, king of Ithaca, although in later tradition Sisyphus, king of Corinth, was considered his real father, his mother having later married Laertes. At first Odysseus refused to accompany the Greeks to Troy, feigning madness by sowing his fields with salt, but the Greeks placed his son Telemachus in front of the plow, and Odysseus was compelled to admit his ruse and join the invading army. Throughout the Iliad of Homer, he is

Orion then consulted an oracle, who told him he could regain his sight by going to the east and letting the rays of the rising sun fall on his eyes. His sight restored, he lived on Crete as the huntsman of the goddess Artemis. The goddess eventually killed him, however, because she was jealous of his affection for Aurora, goddess of the dawn. After Orion's death, Artemis placed him in the heavens as a constellation.

PANDORA
Pandora, in Greek mythology, first woman on earth, created by the god Hephaestus at the request of the god Zeus. Zeus wished to counteract the blessing of fire, which had been stolen from the gods by the Titan Prometheus and given to human beings. Endowed by the gods with every attribute of beauty and goodness, Pandora was sent to Epimetheus, who was happy to have her for his wife, although he had been warned by his brother Prometheus never to accept anything from Zeus. In bestowing their gifts on Pandora, the gods had given her a box, warning her never to open it. Her curiosity finally overcame her, however, and she opened the mysterious box, from which flew innumerable plagues for the body and sorrows for the mind. In terror, she tried to shut the box, but only Hope, the one good thing among many evils the box had contained, remained to comfort humanity in

He did this with the help of the gods, unlike what he would’ve done at the start of his journey. He let Athena turn him into an old beggar so that the suitors would not try to kill him. He was then able to slay all the suitors with the help of his son Telemachus. This final act in his journey helps him understand that he truly does need the gods. By enduring all the challenges he was faced with on his journey, he was able to gain knowledge and wisdom, which was how he fulfilled his
The story of Pandora is one of the main stories mentioned in Works and Days. Pandora was created as a punishment for men by Zeus because Prometheus tricked Zeus and stole back the gift of fire after Zeus deprived mankind from it. Hence, he ordered Hephaestus to craft a creature out of clay that Athena then supplied with ‘womanly skill’ of weaving while Aphrodite was in charge of ‘pouring grace’ desire and heartbreak. Hermes added ‘thievish nature’ and the ‘mind of a bitch.’ Since she was given all these gifts
Odysseus completes many of the tasks he must endure with assistance from the gods and goddesses. Odysseus returns home to Ithaca because Athena begs Zeus to allow him to. After Athena pleas with Zeus to let Odysseus see Ithaca again, Zeus bellows "Let us take up this matter of his return / he may set sail." (I.90-92). The goddess Kalypso aids Odysseus on his journey back
Short stories often develop a theme in a short time frame. Their authors must do this with limited settings and characters. The short story Killer, written by Paula Goslings, contains many themes with the main one being deception. One of the ways the author expresses this is through the narrative convention of style or mood. In this piece the convention of plot is also utilised by the author to develop this idea. Characterisation is another narrative convention successfully utilised to explore this theme. By themselves these elements are nothing, but when together, they effectively portray the theme of deception in the fantastic short story Killer.
In order to punish mankind, Zeus, the king of gods, ordered every god to help make the first woman, named Pandora. Hephaestus created the body of Pandora; Athene taught her how to weave; Aphrodite taught her how to act properly around men, and the list continues throughout the twelve major gods until Zeus gave life to her. Pandora was given to Epimetheus, Prometheus’s brother, as an apologetic gift from Zeus to let him know that there was no hard feelings because of what happened to his brother. With her new husband, Pandora was quite delighted spending time with him. When Pandora was given to Epimetheus, she was given a box that she was not to be open. Hera’s gift to Pandora was the gift of curiosity that continuously teased her about the
There was a time when people never got lost in the woods. If they felt lost they could look up at the sky and the lines of stars Zeus would make would help them get home. Thousands of people always got lost and looked for the help of Zeus. Zeus was the king of the gods. He was the god of lighting and the sky. Zeus had many children with many different goddesses. He has a wife named Hera and she did not like him flirting with the other women.
Artemis, “goddess of the hunt, the wilderness, wild animals, and the moon” (“Artemis” Index), was said to be one of the favorite goddesses of ancient Rome and Greece. Although she went by Diana in Rome, Artemis kept the same qualities. She was the daughter of Zeus and Leto and the twin sister of Apollo, god of the sun, who had strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes like Artemis (“Artemis” Index). Her powers as a goddess were immortality, master of archery, and the ability to transform the shape of beings. All gods or goddesses have weaknesses, so along with her powers came jealousy and the need to seek revenge.
"A myth is a collective term denoting a symbolic narrative in religion, as distinguished from symbolic behavior (cult, ritual) and symbolic places or objects (temples, icons)". (The New Encyclopedia Britannica. Vol. 24)Mythology is a collection of myths meant to explain the universe. Mythological stories were told in many different cultures and civilizations. What would one think if he goes back in time to a period where myths were common? Would one believe it to be true or hold his own opinion? I would say it depends on the situation and on what type of myth it is. Classical period was full of myths. There were many aspects to mythology that were held important in the classical era. One of the most significant aspects of the Greek mythology was that it was the primary concept to put humans at the midpoint of the universe. Not like the animal deities of the Egyptians and Mesopotamians, the gods of the Greeks were human in form. Not only did they have human physical character, but they symbolized the touching flaws of humans as well. Unlike the gods of other ancient
The myth of Pandora starts with two brothers, Epimetheus and Prometheus, who were Titans that tasked themselves as spokespeople for their creation from clay: mankind. Epimetheus was in charge of creating the creatures that were to roam the Earth while Prometheus was to distribute them. While most animals were armed or protected by their physical attributes, man stood alone naked and bear to all those that may attack. Thus, Prometheus, the mischevious of the two, deceived Zeus one day into giving mankind the best portion of a sacrificed bull, leaving behind bare bones and fats for the gods. Outraged and offended, Zeus then took the gift of fire away from mankind to leave them in the cold and darkness. However, Prometheus once again outwitted Zeus and stole unwearying fire for men to have the intelligence necessary to sustain their lives. As punishment, Zeus chained Prometheus to a rock in Caucasus where an eagle ripped apart and devoured his liver every day, which then regenerated each nightfall as result of his immortality. Although Prometheus caused him the most angst, Zeus believed the kind-hearted Epimetheus deserved to struggle as well in a form that would not only punish him but also the brothers’ creation of mankind. Zeus called out for Hephaestus to construct the most beautiful, intelligent, and brave women named Pandora to be the new companion of Epimetheus in place of Prometheus. However, he also graced her with one other quality: curiosity. So, Zeus delivered his
William Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright during the Elizabethan era. He was regarded as one of the greatest writers, whose plays were performed more than those of any other play writers. One of his most famous, yet shortest and bloodiest tragedies is Macbeth. Macbeth is seen to be Shakespeare’s profound vision of evil which is based on greed and ambition. The play revolves around a man’s overwhelming desire to become a king. Shakespeare’s understanding of the complexity of the human nature is shown through the character of Macbeth.

In order to best understand the three primary schools of the International Political Economic (IPE), it’s necessary to analyze the varying views intellects within each school. There are three primary schools, liberalism, Marxism, and economic nationalism, with liberalism being the most accepted in our modern day.
