Have you ever thought about how another culture like the Greek culture lived? There’s many cultures out there and the Greek culture seems to be a really interesting culture due to their Ancient times and they still do some of the things now that they used to do back then. Theres many cultures but i’ve always have been thinking about how they do things. I did research on their foods, clothing, and also how they live. I’ll start off with how they eat their food.
Here in America you would sometimes eat big breakfasts in the morning but in Greece they don’t eat much breakfast as we would. They usually eat foods that their ancestors did which were foods such as yogurt, rice, sweets from nuts, honey, sesame seeds, and pasta. All of those types of foods were introduced to them by the Eastern and Western side of Greece, Persians, Romans during an

These materials aren’t like the materials that we would use in our homes now but, they’re very sturdy and comfortable. Inside a Greek home you would have multiple bedrooms, a woman’s sitting area, a men’s dining room, a bathing room, and one or more storage room depending on the size of the house. The central courtyard was very demanding at the time because it had the most privacy which was good because the women could only be out for a certain time under the permission of their husbands.
I never thought that the Greeks wouldn’t eat much of a breakfast also i didn’t know that most of the food in Greece were imported from all around them. The foods they eat also don’t seem really different from what we would eat here. I knew very little about what they wore in Greece. I didn’t think that they wore modern clothes like us currently. There houses inside are partially the same way our houses would be like in the inside but, on the outside the houses aren’t much
1. The Greeks had similarities and differences compared to traditional American’s and our culture. Similar to Americans, Greeks were a very entertainment based culture. They had plays, music, and texts to pass their free time, all of which most Americans typically experience in a day. Cities and towns existed, with city-states serving almost like today’s capitals of each state. Farming played a big part in their culture, which is shared with America, as farming continues to be a trade that is necessary, no matter what age. A military existed to protect their society, like America has. Religion was relatively relaxed as a subject in Greece, where they didn’t really think care too much about which gods or goddesses you worshiped - a trait somewhat
pic. Greek life is, in many ways, different from modern day American culture. People in ancient Greek civilization thought, believed, and treated people differently than modern day Western civilization does. Although what went on in Greek culture at the time may seem very strange or different to children who have grown up in America their whole lives, that does not mean that Greek life was, by definition, strange. The Greek culture is like any culture in that it is different in its own way. It has aspects and objects that are unique to the culture that others would find interesting. Even some objects, for example: bow and arrows, swords, spears, and others, are the same objects other cultures have, yet they may look slightly different from the objects in other cultures. Ancient civilizations did not have mass manufacturing as modern day America. No weapon, item of clothing, or dish was the exact same.
When people wonder about Ancient Greece the first thing that comes to their minds is Greek mythology; gods and goddesses that have helped shape many historical events. “In ancient Greece, stories about gods and goddesses and heroes and monsters were an important part of everyday life.” (“Greek Mythology.”) The civilization showed that numerous characters and stories helped shape Greeks. The beliefs the Greeks had with mythologies was they understood the meaning behind all the characters that are known today. However, to the Greeks, they were not just characters, these were their gods and goddesses who gave them meaning and understanding of the world around them. Worshiping the gods and goddesses helped them with their religious rituals and the temperament of the weather. A famous wine-jar that was made during this time period was “Achilles killing the Amazon Queen Penthesilea, 540-530 BCE, black-figured amphora”. (Khan Academy) The civilization that they lived in grew around their worship and achievements.

The Ancient Greeks grew olives, grapes, figs and wheat and kept goats, for milk and cheese. They ate lots of bread, beans and olives. In the Summer months there were plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables to eat and in the winter they ate dried fruit and food they had stored like apples and lentils. There were many options each day, you had the choice to eat however you would like. On the other hand, people who trained in Sparta would eat one specific dish each and everyday. It was made with pork, salt, vinegar and blood. The dish was served with bread, figs and cheese (sometimes supplemented with game and fish). Sparta's everyday foods where bland and boring, there wasn’t anything extra to it. Athens offered something for everyone, trying new things was not unusual in that

Ancient Greece is not just ancient history, there is a relation between ancient Greece to modern day in several different ways. Few relations are seen in fashion, architecture, and sculpting. To see ancient Greece still have a relation in the 21st century is remarkable. The culture on Greek islands is such that it must be experienced. Everyone is incredibly laid back. Meals are enjoyed, not just eaten. Dinner is a social event that often runs into late night or morning. One thing about Greece is that everyone is very social. This is simply the culture. People go for coffee, for dinner, or just for a walk to speak together. Everyone is always out, and everyone is always talking. And when people talk, they talk about everything. Nothing is left out of the discussion, and no topic is feared.
