A. The common person seems to chase moeny thoguhout their life but with all the lies, deceit and corrption portrayed by the wealthy people in The great gatsby this begs this question; is money everything\
B. The 1920’s was a spark of wealth and opritunity in America. After just finishing WW1, the economy and social life began to change. The stock market was at record highs and wall street was the real land of oppritunity. A backfire in liquior laws allowed people to obtain alcohol even easier and at a lesser cost. You can now see why people named this decade “the roaring 20’s”
C. As the economy grew, so did the people. As far as wealth goes, unless the poor somehow acquired money, they would stay poor, represented as the valley of ashes in novel. All of the higher classes just rose to greater extents of wealth. Even the middle class, in the novel represented as Nick Carraway, was gaining oppritunity to goin the upper middle class or even the upper class. The rich, upper class grew exponentially, further separating themselves with the lower economic classes. This gave the upper class a reason to belive that they were better than everyone else. In The Great Gatsby The rich separted themselves even more to the extent of east and west egg. In the novel, East egg represented new money such as Jay Gatsby, which was looked down apon
