Completing the Grand Final trifecta is the number one goal for rising Penrith Panthers trio Bryce Cartwright, Isaiah Yeo and Reagan Campbell-Gillard, who aim to win a NRL premiership with the Penrith Panthers. The VB NSW Cup and Under 20’s premiership victories are etched in the trio’s credentials, and they say their experience of the NSW Cup set them up for long and successful NRL careers. “I’ve been very lucky to be involved in both of those [Grand Finals],’ Yeo said. “To do it with some of my better mates Reagan Campbell Gillard and Bryce Cartwright who I was involved with in both competitions and being able to debut and play with them in first grade as well it’s been very exciting for myself personally.” Current Panthers NRL assistant coach Garth Brennan has been with them all the way, coaching the Under 20’s to premiership victory in 2013 before emulating his success with the VB NSW Cup side the very next year. …show more content…
“The number one goal in the NRL is to win a comp here out in Penrith, that will always be the number one goal for me,” Cartwright said. “I got my first taste of NSW cup when I was 18 and I think that put me in good stead to play in the NRL. Anyone coming through that system, it’s going to help them out a lot playing in the NRL,” Cartwright said. “I was playing against men for a while and played a lot of games in there and I think that matured me a lot. Garth [Brennan] was there alongside me and I got to play with a lot of NRL boys; I think that helped me out a
Kapaun has been chasing Carroll’s tail for the past several years in the City League standings, but the Crusaders feel they have what it takes to win the league in May and have a strong
The Swans victory against the Eagles in the Grand Final was unexpected when comparing the individual talent between the two sides. The Swans credited and prided themselves on a commitment to play for each other and win against the odds. This was referred to as the ‘Bloods’ culture. Paul Roos emphasised on a defensive style by drilling the Swans, including Goodes, in hard tackling skills, resulting in the team destroying their opposition. Paul Roos was a huge influence on Adam Goodes' sporting career and his belief in Goodes motivated him to reach his maximum performance. In addition to Adam Goodes’ physical and performance attributes, he contributed strong mentality and drive into the Swans as much as any other team
Training every day for 4 times a week at school, surrounded by elite state and national players at the college where soccer excellence and high standards are the norm. I felt the pressure of high expectations weighing on me. The intensity of training, combined with the talent of my teammates who were all in NPL (National Premier League) teams, left me feeling out of place and overshadowed. This was the start of my determination to earn a spot in an NPL team, relating to Michelle Payne’s childhood aspiration, “I just want to win the Melbourne
This was a great way to end the successful season. The amount of practice the girls did really showed at b-champs. " The season was hard but it was all worth it in
Mitch Cornish had an outstanding game at five-eighth, steering his team around the park with his clever kicking game, while hooker Cameron King took charge of the ruck and bagged a try and try assist.
“They picked me up on the way here, spectacular to see they wanted a youngster” he said
From before day one, all our minds were set. This was the year to win a State Championship. I can’t exactly explain it, but right from the start I knew we were going to do it. I was never so sure about anything in my life and I never doubted it once.
It was a Friday evening; our team gathered before the competition started in a couple of minutes. We all gave “good lucks” to one another and off we were to the competition. After what seemed like days, it was time for the award ceremony. We are able to see our
Thus, the purpose of this report is to analyse different aspects and contributions to a local game of Australian Rule Football, to determine areas of praise and improvement.
I personally know about all of the time that goes into learning the different plays, so it’s a great feeling when they get a close win. Whether it’s the beginning of the season or near the end, it was rewarding to see them practice as if it was the last time they will ever play together. Everyone gives their own one-hundred percent, not what others think should be their percent. Even if they face the easiest of teams, everyone puts in the same amount of effort and expects the same results. Rewarding as all of the state appearances and championships are, seeing the hard work the team puts in is the icing on the cake. Knowing that I’m there to support them and hearing the state champions announcement puts into perspective how wonderful the team
Australian Rules Football has been one of the major sports in Australia for generations and merged from the VFL into a national competition (Australian Football League) in 1990, which broadened its popularity even further. Many Australian boys, from the moment they kicked their first football have aspired to play the game at its highest level, yet only a select few get drafted into an AFL club each year due to the limited availability of positions on an AFL list each year and the high standard of competition.
“He did a lot of other things in Rugby League as well, so we see this game, as well as the game in a few weeks time as a great opportunity to represent Frank and what he did for the game and what he did for both heritage clubs.”
Starting 8th grade football, being one of the older kids, felt awesome. I knew I had advantage over most of the kids on the team. My job being one of the older one’s was to teach the younger ones their place. It was the first day of practice I was really excited to be playing the sports again. I was confident that I would be the running back because I played that position
The main stake holders involved in the event include Our Watch and Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre, Woman’s Health East as well as sponsors such as BUPA, Step onto life and Little Real Estate. The key factors that will contribute to the success of the event is the involvement of AFL and/or VFL players who hold a celebrity-like status that young people look up to and are inspired by.
Over the years, I progressed into the higher squads of the club and I was soon competing in galas and beta leagues.
