In the reading The Damnation of a Canyon, the author, Edward Abbey, described his outlook on the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. Throughout his reading, he emphasized many positives the Glen Canyon Dam once had. The text revealed Abbey believing the nature that Glen Canyon used to contain and how people didn't appreciate it. He used his perspectives of when he worked as a park ranger before all the changes happened. He strongly believed in nature. He felt that he supported his argument with facts and his personal opinions. I hereby write in regards to admission into Grand Canyon University. As a matter of fact, I chose this particular university based on its Christian values as well as the excellent students it has produced from the wide variety of quality courses. The university has also shown a commitment to developing their students all-round through extra-curricular activities and other areas with the fact that it was the first ever for-profit university- and the only one too- to participate in Division One athletics for NCAA. The institution offers me with the best environment and university to pursue my education and foster the attainment of my long term ambitions and dreams.

. The Grand Canyon and its age determined by the young earth and old earth scientists will always be a controversy. Either the rock dating is the evidence of millions of years, or it is largely the evidence of Noah’s Flood. It can’t be both. If we believe what the geologists says that the earth is billions of years old and shows no sign of a worldwide Flood then that belief contradicts our belief in Noah’s Flood.
