Granados: A Case Study

On 03-14-16 at approximately 1354 hours, Officer Saunders #7720 and I were dispatched to 1157 N Fair Oaks Avenue for a criminal threats investigation. Officer Torres #8500 also responded to assist with translating Victim Parra’s statement. Dispatch advised that Parra only speaks Spanish.

Luis Adolfo Gomez Zacarias was a local businessman engaged in retail sales of food and household items. For an extended period, prior to September 20, 2013, he was being extorted under death threats by an organized criminal gang, and when no longer able to pay the 500 Quetzal per month extortion demand, he was murdered. The day prior to his murder, he implored his spouse to take measures to protect herself and their child, prompting lead respondent to seek police assistance and protection when her spouse failed to arrive home from work. The police, ignored her multiple requests for help, and the following morning Luis Adolfo Gomez Zacarias was found murdered by gunshot to the head (see Tab G and Tab L). While enroute I received updated information from dispatch that the suspect vehicle was south on Washington St. The defendant was then observed at the intersection Washington St and Lorenzen Rd by officer Zabetka and a Felony traffic stop was conducted. Shortly after Det. Russo and myself arrived on scene and detained the driver who was later identified as Sergio Mercado Flores from a Florida driver license, of the white Ford Expedition and placed him into the rear of Officer Zabetka patrol car.

On 05-31-17 at 0144 hours, I was dispatched to 99 E. Colorado Boulevard regarding a vandalism investigation. Upon my arrival, I met with Witness Pasadena Guide Sergio Solorio who told me the following information in summary:

For the community engagement part of my project, I had reached out to the Des Moines Latino Center where I met Joe Gonzalez. Joe works with many Latinos and does a lot of community outreach to help people and help them get their stories shared with the right people. On April 12, 2017, Detective Alvanerga contacted the alleged suspect Mr. Daniel Chavez on his cellular phone 202-422-7750. Detective Alvanerga explained to Mr. Chavez about the pending investigation regarding his 11 year old niece Karina Chavez-Ulloa. Mr. Chavez stated that he's out of town and unavailable to meet up with the undersigned detective. Mr. Chavez stated that he is coming back home on April 14. 2017, and agreed to meet up with the undersigned detective by approximately 1400 hours.

Upon arrival, I made contact with Ms. Maria Gizanados (Involved Person) who advised in a sworn recorded statement her son, Mr. Antonio Gizanados (Victim), and daughter were staying at her parents’ house, when she received a phone call from her daughter. During phone conversation, Ms. Gizanados was advised her son was having a “bi-polar episode,” so she responded to the location. Upon arrival, she made contact with her son (Mr. Gizanados) and he stated he wished to kill himself with a knife. He had a knife present in his bedroom, but was not threating himself with it. Mr. Gizanados also made statements to her that he was planning to go to the The Avenues with a gun and shoot people as well as myself.

It was a cold October night when I first heard of Fortunato’s case, I was very amused at the thought of someone doing something so unhuman to a person. I guess some people can’t control their actions, but then again those people belong in a mental institution. This case in particular was very peculiar because it had gone five years without being solved. In the summer of 1994 an Illinois woman’s buzzer rang at her apartment complex in Waukegan. She went downstairs to check after nobody went upstairs to her apartment. As soon as she reached the door downstairs, two men forced her into a dark colored sedan, kidnapped her, and raped her. Distraught after her attack, the victim wandered until she ultimately found a Seven Eleven close by and the police were called. When the police arrived, the victim said she was attacked by two Hispanic men that looked to be in their mid-twenties and a bit taller than her height of five feet and seven inches. The car that she was forced into was described as dark colored, older, having four doors and tinted windows. The victim’s boyfriend saw Angel Gonzalez’s car in the apartment complex parking lot and it matched the characteristics that the woman used to describe the assailant’s car. Police later stopped Gonzalez’s car and the victim acknowledged that the car was the one she described. She was then asked if Gonzalez was one of her attackers, and she was certain that he was, despite her being in the backseat of the police car while he was in front of it. Not only was he not close enough for her to get a clear view, but he also had facial hair and a birthmark, both characteristics that she did not use to describe her attackers. Upon arrival I made contact with a male subject with a pair of crutches in yard of the residence sitting on a staircase. The male subject was identified as (Regalado, Daniel DOB 07/23/93), who is a known Latin King gang member. Daniel related he was recently involved in a car accident and injured his foot. He further related while he was attempting to walk down the stairs located in his yard he fall down. Cicero FD (F15) on the scene to render aid and transport to MacNeal ER for further evaluation.

In this paper, I am going to present a case study of how a firm use management information system to increase its competitive advantage and become more efficient than others in the market place. I will use an Italian food company—Granarolo as an example. This company operates fresh milk, dry pasta and diary sector, and it aims at improving zoo techniques in Italy. Granarolo has become a successful multinational enterprise that distributed in twelve different countries. What makes it so prosperous is that Granarolo uses a special management information system to create economic value. Moreover, this company focuses on three dimensions of sustainability, which is social, economic and environmental. Therefore, Granarolo becomes popular among diary market, and it takes the full advantage of management information system to promote the profits, as well as undertaking the social responsibility.
