Pray for Lexi
Last Friday morning sophomore Alexis Anderson was found not responding and was sent to the ER. Since then Lexi’s condition has gotten worse. She is now in need of a heart transplant within a week. She is currently on a heart-lung machine. Lexi has a preexisting heart condition. Everyone at CHHS is praying for her. There has been a Gofundme page for donations to help Lexi’s family. The goal for Lexi's Gofundme account is $100,000. So far people have donated $35,008. On Tuesday, February 7th Lamelo Ball dedicated his record 92-point basketball game to Lexi. Lamelo dedicating his game helped to get the news about Lexi on the national level. There was also a dance fundraiser at Dellos Dance Studio on Thursday night, and every dollar

This chapter starts with Greg Mortenson trying to type letters to sent to people with power and support in order to fund for the school. When visiting San Francisco, Greg met Vaughan who was a pulmonologist and a climber and Greg fell in love with a climber named Marina. Greg was taught about computer liberate by Syed who helped him to type his letters to ask for donations faster than a typewriter; eventually, Greg and Marina became a couple and he got to know her own children. The Golden LEAF Foundation recognizes the rural areas of North Carolina that are tobacco dependent or economically-affected. With the focuses of the Golden LEAF Foundation being agriculture, job creation and retention, and workforce preparedness, several areas of North Carolina have been able to thrive. The foundation also promotes education in rural and economically distressed areas, as well. As a future educator, I am enthralled with the remarkable work that the Golden LEAF Foundation has done and is continuing to do. Gaining an education at East Carolina University I believe that I will be able to change someone’s life through education and influence what they choose to do as a future career. My goal is to graduate with a Master’s in Music
Austin’s kindness and selflessness towards Chris has inspired me to help children in my community. In 2014, I contacted Make-A-Wish in Fresno, California to get involved. I organized a service project in conjunction with Make-A-Wish where fifteen of my peers from high school and I participated in a “send-off” of a Wish Kid to Disneyland. My peers and I made posters
By showing the audience a young girl barely a year old, telling them she was not going to be able to hear, and playing somber music in the background, it dements the viewers in a spirit and builds saddest for the family while aggravation against healthcare companies. These emotions were developed once more when Dawnelle Keyes was introduced. Her eighteenth-month old daughter, Mychelle, had a seizure and could not be treated at the nearest hospital, Martin Luther King, because Kaiser—her HMO—would not cover the tests and antibiotics to treat her daughter at the MLK hospital. When Keyes got to Kaiser, the doctors tried to revive her daughter after she went into cardic arrest. “And the doctors came in and let us know that she had expired.
At the beginning of the project my role was the social media manager, and let me tell you; it is harder than you think. So our group's main concern though was money to build the Geralds and where we were going to get it from. So it was my top priority and concern to find a credible fundraising site to use that would be credible. As it was suggested by my peers to create a GoFundMe account under my name because I have a credit card I was a little nervous about it. While reading about the site though, it seemed to be the first fundraising site to use. Even though GoFundMe website says it was “#1 fundraising platform” with people having raised more here than any other site (GoFundMe). So me being me I have no problem with that, except pretty
I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to ask you to help me shine a light during a time where there is so much darkness in our country. With so much anger, resentment and despair consuming people’s thoughts, we seem to have forgotten the positive things taking place all around us, like the miracles that take place at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Let’s shine a bright light together by helping the amazing kids at St. Jude.
In June 2004, I started a high school rugby program at Taravella High School and immediately remembered Don’s great work with organization and working with parents and asked him to join me as a coach. At the end of the second season, we decided to enter an all-star tournament in Maryland. Don volunteered to the tournament director and began organizing the trip. While I was involved the coaching aspect of the program, Don contacted parents, worked with airlines, sports companies, and t-shirt companies in order to provide transportation, uniforms and fund raising projects to raise money for the boys going on the tour. He made the hotel accommodations in Baltimore and organized food and transportation for the duration of the tour. On our day off, he arranged a tour of Annapolis. He kept the players and the parents informed so they knew everything necessary as quickly as possible. The tour was an enormous success. It was so well received by both the parents and players, the rest of Florida wanted to get
The Angel Network is a national effort to encourage viewers to make charitable contributions and to do volunteer work (Lowe 180). The Angel Network has helped educate, clothe, feed, and provide shelter for the children of Africa. During her travels to Africa, Oprah has provided the children with items such as books and clothing. Thanks to viewer’s generosity, over 16,000 children will receive the uniforms they need to go to school (Oprah.com Live Your Best Life). Also, the network has rewarded single, working mothers struggling to provide for their children. For example, due to the lack of transportation, one mother was awarded a brand new caravan for her and her children. Another accomplishment of the network has been helping the tsunami victims in Asia. After the tsunami caused mass destruction, Oprah’s Angel Network has responded by raising money to send to the people of Asia. Moreover, Oprah’s Angel Network has teamed up with three worldwide relief and development organizations that will be working in the area of Arugam Bay and the town of Pavolli, Sri Lanka and is donating $1 million to help (Oprah.com Live Your Best Life). Whether it is a continent, such as Asia or Africa, or a single mother in
We need you to donate to SickKids Hospital, it will go a long way to help create bright futures for children, just like Hugh.
2. The Boys and Girls club of Austin utilized their Facebook and Twitter accounts to advertise and promote various events. They are hosting a BGCAA night with the Spurs vs Oklahoma State coming up on February 28th. They have encouraged their audience to buy tickets in which all donations will go to the Austin based clubs. They also gave a shoutout to East 4 East, which is an organization that provides healthy meals to underprivileged children and their families. One of the Austin-based clubs posted picture of two APD officers speaking to the children. The focus for the week of February 14th - 20th was to fundraise and celebrate their community. The post about East 3 East’s donation to the clubs evoked an emotional response in me. I felt that
Harvey has made possible for me would be enough to keep a person busy for a lifetime, but I am not her only student. She affectionately calls every student in the department her “kid” and I have personally watched her distribute forks, spoons, change for snack machines, markers, hugs, or any other supply in her office (which is a supply store in and of itself) to any student who may be in need. This compassion has earned her the nickname “mom” in the by students in the department, and anyone you ask would have a response much similar to my own. Despite her bottomless gratitude, she never expects repayment. Instead, she only asks that we “pay it forward” and bring the same level of love and compassion to our own future classrooms; her emphasis is on the “ripple effect” growth; I feel this is the mark of a true
Eastern High School Rotary Interact club member. Walked weekly to the local elementary school to tutor a child in reading, writing, and math; packed lunches with donated food for impoverished students to take home. Participated in miscellaneous other individual service projects.
The most popular girl in school, and yet she’s not even a senior! Everyone may not have known her personally, yet they thought she was sweet and kind. Everyone loved her! She was voted homecoming princess, invited to all the hottest parties, and she was just an all-around nice person. But one mistake led to the downfall of it all. The downfall of her social life, her school life, her family, and her life in general. 17-year old Alexia Springer passed away on a Tuesday morning due to what police say, a drug overdose. On that sad day, friends let balloons in remembrance of her, news articles were being shared on social media like it was nobody’s business.
On August 27, 2005 only 4 days after hurricane Katrina struck in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Deamonte Love, a six year old boy, takes care of 6 young toddlers and shows the world his courageous acts. He took care of each one during Hurricane Katrina and helped them while still separated from their parents after being rescued. Even though they were all separated, he stayed positive and did the best he could for each one. He was only 6 years old and took care of each of them instead of not caring and just leaving them behind. Instead of losing sight of them, he made sure each is safe. His acts were very selfless and what he did was very brave and heroic. Soon the kids and their parents reunited
