Once every four years Americans vote for president of the Unites States. The candidates must be a U.S. citizen and the people generally choose from one of two parties the Republicans or Democrats. The election takes place during November but the winner isn’t sworn in until January. Some presidents do a better job at governing the country than others. President George H.W. Bush was elected the 41st president of the United States in 1989 (“George H.W. Bush”). According to the biography (“George H.W. Bush”) he was the Vice President and had many domestic responsibilities. He was also the youngest piolet in the Nave to receive his wings (“George H.W Bush”). This event lead legislators and the American people to be in more favorable moods. For anybody who had seen or heard of the millions of gallons of oil that spilled into the ocean off the Alaskan coast in 1989. As all of these events made President Bush a great president but his actions with health care made him a successful president. His policies regarding Health care made President George H.W. Bush a successful President. As he didn’t really touch health care. Though to some it could be seen as a good thing he didn’t. According to “peters, Gerhard and John T. Whooley” he had made many plans for health care as he had a radio address to the people (“Peters, Gerhard and John T. Whooley”). Though he may not have directly worked on health care, but he tried to help some people with the “radiation exposure compensation act”. People who lived near the Nevada and the Atlantic bomb test sites during the cold war, were exposed to radiation that effected many. Many lives were put to ruin due to cancer and birth defects from radiation. President George H.W. Bush tried to help compensate for the lives lost or ruined by the
