Starting off with Atticus Finch, I think he was one of the nicest characters in the book. He acted the same at work and at home. He did not judge people, and he did not like to harm people. When he was chosen to be Tom’s lawyer, he said to Scout “...every lawyer gets at least one case in his lifetime that affects him personally. This one’s mine, I guess.” (Page 101). He represents a mockingbird because all he did was defend a black person in court, and received hate for it.

Atticus Finch is one of the most steadfastly honest and moral characters in To Kill a Mockingbird, and his character remains- for the most part- unchanged. To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel in which readers experience being an outcast, and the rumors that come from that, the love that a father has for everyone, the cruelty that lies within, it leaves us with a better understanding of racial hatred, but also teaches us that appearances can be deceiving. As Miss Maudie quite correctly puts it in one of the best quotes from the novel that helps us understand Atticus Finch, “Atticus Finch is the same in his house as he is on the public streets” (Lee ). Atticus Finch represents the qualities that a lawyer should possess. He is un-bias, he doesn’t
