Overcoming obstacles and becoming successful

In life, people are given obstacles so that they have the chance to overcome them and as a result learn more about themselves. The movie, “Front of the class”, is about a boy named Brad Cohen with tourette syndrome. Tourette syndrome (TS) is a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and vocalizations called tics. Inspired by his principal who told him that he is capable of being successful in life, Braid decided to become a teacher so that he could educate children about his syndrome, or what he called “ a constant companion” as well as educate the children about other disorders out there and teaching them how to accept it in society.

Throughout the movie, Brad got into plenty of trouble because of the tourette syndrome. For example, on his way to a interview for a teaching job, Brad got caught by the cops for speeding. While the cop …show more content…

He shows the children that it's ok to have a disability and people shouldn't let the disability affect their daily lives. For example, one of the students named Thomas had difficulty reading and as a result acted out in every class he was put into. However, when Brad Cohen discovered that he was only acting out because of his disability, he explained to Thomas that he is really able to read and has it much easier than his own teacher. While Thomas would read Brad would make the sounds that he normally makes to should that some people have it worse than others and people need to face their challenges in life. By the end of the movie, Brad’s family accepts him for who he is and Brad even gets an award from the Sally May’s 1st Year Teacher of the Year Award because of how well he taught his students to face life head on even with a
