A total of 38.75 sq. m of surface was opened during the dig, resulting the discovery of more than 8,400 sherds. The sherds represented 723 vessel equivalents. Exquisite pieces including- but not limited to- pots, bowls, jars, pans, dishes and containers were found. Pottery is an ancient form of art created by people as early as 29,000 BC. The Gravettian "Venus" figurines (appendix A) are the earliest discovered ceramic works, dating from 29,000 BC to 25,000 BC (Carr, 2015). Since then ceramics have significantly evolved, and the pots created today can be described as interesting and unique masterpieces. According to Isaacs, pottery was introduced to Hermannsburg in the late-twentieth century by Victor Jaensch. So I switched to what my second option was, Business, which I am on my way to getting an Associate in Business. Pottery can not only tell us about the past, but it can also tell us about people’s beliefs and what people did in the past. Pottery was used for many purposes. It was made in many different shapes and sizes. Some pieces of pottery had unique pictures and designs on them. The pictures and designs expressed different types of things that went on in the daily lives of ancient Greeks. Music and entertainment, religious beliefs, death and burial traditions are a few aspects of Greek life that are pictured on many different types of ancient Greek pottery.

The invention of pottery was a tremendous step for the start of humans. Pottery has given humans the ability to store food and water. Cooking requires some kind of surface to cook. While the men were hunting, most likely the women were the first to present the idea of pottery. Women played a huge role in society, they were the major providers of food. During the Ice Age there was limited supply of plants and animals, so humans had to create pottery to help store for later. The first domestications of food sources happen even before animals were domesticated. Its benefits have been enjoyed by man for centuries, from the ancient cauldrons and old-fashioned cooking pans to more modern skillets and cooking pots. Cooking tools and implements have also evolved over the years, and “cast iron technology” followed suit. Thus, it is no wonder how cast iron cookware sets have also come into existence.
