Since the evolution of science, many people have become solely dependent on a variety of technologies to supply their essential needs of life. A key technology that people have a high level of dependency on is fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are a source of energy people use in their everyday life as a way to get light, electricity, and to keep warm. Fossil fuels are perceived as a nuclear energy, which has been around for decades. Initially, scientists perceived this type of energy as affordable and safe; however, in the late 20th century, danger of nuclear plants began to threat regions of United States. Due to the increase of global warning from the burning of fossil fuels, climate scientists and environmental experts are considering ways to replace nuclear energy (Ferguson). Since the world uses fossil fuels as a source of energy supply, it would be beneficial if the world considered using alternatives means of energy sources once all the present energy has been used up. The world would greatly benefit from these alternatives since the production of present energy is polluting America. Both writers' methods for organizing their major points are different, but it allows them to better explain why they are either for or against nuclear energy.

They are created from the remains of plants and animals that lived millions of years ago and are used in the form of concentrated biomass. Coal was the first widespread fuel, but eventually alternative ways of making energy without the pollution to the Earth’s atmosphere and surface were found. One of the most influential alternatives is nuclear energy. Believe it or not, one lb of nuclear fuel-enriched uranium contains the amount of energy found in 1,500 tons of coal!
Today the U.S. is still enormously dependent on fossil fuels despite the numerous advancements in alternative power sources (Solar panels, wind turbines, etc.). Fossil fuel based energy (our main energy source) is not only expensive, but it also leaves a gigantic impact on the environment. If we continue to depend on this power source, our future generations will have to bear the consequences of our neglect of the earth. The topic of discussion is important to address because it is about the future of our planet, and one way to change for the better is using another source of energy. An alternative that I believe has the potential to be a more suitable choice than fossil fuels, is nuclear energy. Although I know there are people who are apprehensive of this development because of its unpredictable and unwholesome history, I am confident that this is the best path to a healthier and greener earth. Critics of nuclear energy argue that it is too unstable; however it has also been proven that capable of a more serviceable use. This is why I propose that we build new nuclear plants and improve our existing nuclear energy facilities; because I believe this will decrease the dependence the U.S. has on fossil fuel and will reduce environment damage.
