Forgiveness What is most important in life? Is it the people that encourage, specific items, or is it the life lessons? Mitch Albom’s book “Tuesdays With Morrie”, Morrie is an old man who is diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease and also used to be Mitch’s college professor and Mitch is an old college student. In the book, it explains about how every Tuesday they talk about a new life lesson. Morrie taught Mitch very valuable things throughout all the years that he was teaching Morrie and when Morrie was sick, Mitch would go over every Tuesday and they would talk about things that life would or has thrown at them and how to deal with it. Let it go. Freely and wholeheartedly grant freedom. It has very little to do with feelings or even trust. Forgiveness is simply a decision to let go of our regrets and our own view of justice. If we are able to forgive others, we also learn to forgive ourselves in situations of self-guilt. Forgiveness helps us feel light and helps us get rid of hard feelings that occupy our mind and heart and eat away our peace of mind. Forgiveness is a way to self-fulfillment. People who can readily forgive others are much more responsible and satisfied inside than those who keep grudges against others and develop feelings of enmity. Those who forgive help create positive energy on this planet. In the article “Forgiveness Towards Others” by Charu B shae states “Our grudges will only affect the relationship with the person and not hurt the other person in any way.” She says that holding grudges against the other person won’t insult them or hurt them in any way but will affect the relationship between you whether you plan to make up with them or not. Charu also brings up forgiveness on a spiritual level. She brings up a situation of a terrorist. She says that if the terrorist killed hundreds of innocent people, would he or she deserve forgiveness? She states that such criminals kill common man in the name of religion and consider it a way to please or reach their God. “ What makes the power of forgiveness comparable to God? The very nature of humans is to get angry and feel resentful towards those who have hurt us or did some harm to us in any way.”
